Eat Less Move More (ELMM) sounds like simple plan for success. The problem
is it doesn't work for many (most) people. It takes nothing into account
WHAT you are eating and how that might affect you. I have tried it, strict
calorie restriction (1500 Cal/day) , and even low fat. Nothing worked for
me. I never had energy and every workout session was exercise in will
power. Doing Atkins, I was able to eat more (3000-4000 Calories per day)
and I had energy to exercise like never before.
I ate more, felt better, listened to my own body for when I was hungry or
not, and was able to do things I never imagined like bike 20-30 miles or
eventually run marathons. I also lost 211 pounds and have kept it off 8
years. As for heart problems, my own heart risk factors are near nil, my
cholesterol is great, my arteries are clear, and hypertension is absolutely
gone. Check out my Atkins Diet Misconception series to clear up your
ignorance and for links to relevant studies.
I lost 60 lbs in one summer on this diet. This diet is the best diet i've
ever tried. Unfortunately going back to school there was a lot of
temptation and I gained it back. Now i'm older, going on 20, and your
channel is really really inspiring me to get back into it. It's is a
wonderful diet and I am so glad your doing so well and making these videos.
You are a real inspiration! And @VENOM10299, why watch the video if they
fail... *rolls eyes*
I think that is a problem that is sometimes common amongst those who think
Atkins is an all meat diet and don't go looking at alternative recipes or
how to prepare interesting meals on Atkins. You get out of it what you put
into it in terms of work. For me it was the easiest way I have ever lost or
maintained my weight.
Thank you for the very kind words. I can feel for you having to eat in
school and live with their less than healthy choices. I am glad I can
return the favor to inspire you just as I was inspired when I first
started. That is one thing that makes this low carb community work.
lovely :S I tried this atkins diet, and the result was it put me off meat
for a very long time... the end result being I actually gained more weight
than I lost, as protein stops you feeling hungry for longer, and I wasn't
eating much of that after I went on this diet -_-
I think you are right Ken. I was diagnosed recently and have went to low
carb and have lost weight already. Even though I love meat I am sick of all
the meat recipes already and feel I need other things as well. I enjoy
watching your videos and getting lots of ideas.
@Sassymarkrep The first couple batches I made were with almond flour
instead or in addition to the pork rinds, but I made these without that
flour as I wanted to make them Induction Friendly, which some of my viewers
mark as a good vs. bad video. :-)
@VENOM10299 you mean like I failed to lose more than 211 pounds, or failed
to keep it off for over 8 years, or failed to have more energy than ever
before and consequently ran multiple marathons? I guess not because all
those things happened to me.
Honestly, that doesn't work for most people and it gives the greatest
chance for screwing up with binges. Atkins works because you're forced to
burn your fat reserves on your body for fuel. It's not about calorie
restriction at all.
reading the book is key. None of the media scrutiny I've seen, or the
hateful attacks, have been based on the actual diet. They've all been about
"eating tons of meat" or eating no veggies". That's NOT what Atkins is.
Low Carb Atkins Bacon & Cheese Soup
This low carb bacon & cheese soup was taken from the Atkins Diet. My husband really like this soup but I was not as fond of it. If you like bacon and cheese you ...

There should be one this week -- at the moment I don't have any overnight trips and I think my teenage kids don't have any evening activities after Monday. I hear the desire too.
Dear Kent, I have a question regarding flax seed. Is there a limitation for
the portion of flax seed during induction? I have read somewhere that two
tps daily is the recommended.
Dr. Atkins recommended to start with 1 tbsp. per day, and then re-evaluate from there. "I recommend that you take one tablespoon of psyllium husks daily. Be sure to select a sugar-free product. You can also take one tablespoon of coarse wheat bran or flaxseed meal." That is the reason I caution about the MIM recipes that are 4 tbsp. (1/4 cup) of flax meal. That can actually be counter-productive for their constipation if any.
