Great video, really interesting. I have a suspicion that it's not necessarily sunlight/uv that causes wrinkles/ageing marks directly, but the fact that so many people go from tanned in the summer to pale in the winter, then back to tanned the next summer and so on. That initial burst of sunlight which hits the skin at the start of summer when it's pale from the winter may cause permanent damage and wrinkling to the skin. So I've been thinking it's best to try and keep a constant level of tan to the skin. Do you know if there is any truth in this? You also say you don't need the lotions but do they help with your intake of UV?

+fruitandstrength Yeah it makes sense. I still feel more research has to be done on the effects of UV, as though you state rightly that it's important for the intake of vitamin D the science also seems to suggest it damages the skin. Thanks for the response.

+joss l yeah, I would say that's a very good hypothesis and I think it would be a good idea to get some UV exposure year round. Going from one extreme to another extreme is not a good thing without giving the body time adapt. Its the same concept with weightlifting, you wouldn't want to start lifting crazy heavy weights right off the bad, but build up to it over time and keep up with it or you'll be in a ton of pain with lack of frequency. Richard Hawthorne, a famous deadlifter once said he took a considerable amount time from his lifts only to come back to it and not be able to walk for a few days after his first session back. Also, its common for people to go to tanning salon to build up a base tan before going on vacation to a place that is really sunny. I once burnt the top of my head so bad the very first day I went to Mexico it blistered (the worst) and had to go to a doctor, I really feel now if I had built a good base up before I went I wouldn't have been that bad. To add, even more it's recommended by the manufacture of the beds to slowly increase the exposure over time to a decent amount to reduce damage. As with the lotions, they help increase the reflective surface area of the skin and you absorb even more UV light. So, if you use them, you don't have to go in as long.
