in this tutorial i show you how to open your psp and remove the umd door cover :) NOTE: on the left bottom side of the display holder, there you can see 3 ...
Found this video very useful in conceptualizing a case mod I'm working on.
So, I'm about done with affixing the pieces pertaining to my project, but
haven't yet constructed the finished product. After doing some
messy/dangerous work- basically removing everything pertaining to the UMD
drive, I was left with a pretty large space to work with. Running a bendy
tube under/through the faceplate, next to the PSP logo. Metal mouth piece
for aesthetics. The UMD now houses a pipe. I call it, the PS-Pipe.
hypotheticly, if youve already got the psp back together, but you dont have
the metal umd tray, or the plastic cover for it on. its possible to put the
metal tray back without opening up the psp. it snaps in easy enough. but is
it possible to snap in the drive door cover or would i need the back off
for it. picked up a psp for parts which works, just that the drive door
cover is cracked, just wondered if i needed to actualy dissasemble to snap
a new replacement in, or if i can do it w/o it apart
Also, I know it sounds silly, basically ruining the disk capabilities in
exchange for such a petty perk such as a smoking device- but before
considering flaming me, keep in mind- custom firmware, homebrews, ISO's vs
physical UMDs. Odds are, I'll never have another UMD again, due to the
hacked PSPs ability to play any game directly from the card in eboot or
ISO/CSO format. Classic retro games and consoles, yeah, that's one thing. I
wouldn't dare risk it, but the PSP? Go nuts, they're not rare.
Great video, just walked me through the process. My tips: Only the black
screws need to removed from the back of the PSP to take off the faceplate
(Leave the two silver ones under the battery alone). Also, it'd be better
to not risk it with the ribbons, you can just move them out of the way, no
need to disconnect them, no need for unnecessary risk. Plus, have a micro
fiber cleaning cloth on hand. Don't want to leave any dust or finger prints
under your screen.
Video was great, very helpful, had to turn the volume down so I could
concentrate on it though, Some looney was screaming his head off in the
back ground, some freaks might call this music. unfortunately it's not.
it's just shit noise. What a shame it spoils an otherwise very informative
video. Maybe you should save your weird taste in "music" for you ipod, it
would make your videos alot more watchable
Quick question, if the metal hinge that's inside the door comes out, any
way to put it back in without having to take the whole thing apart? If at
all? lol. The games will work to a degree without it being there, just
sometimes takes forever past tomorrow to load @_@, Still tihnking of ways i
could rig something else up to make it work,...
@PrezZinho Im sorry to bother but.... Are you saying instead of going into
the PSP and unscrewing the door from the inside that I can just simply take
off the Plastic Door Cover to the UMD door without opening the PSP up?
Because thats all Im really going to replace on it.
hi silly question I know BUT :o) my sons PSP does not have a separate
battery cover his has the door for the game coverthe whole back of the PSP.
It has the black screen of death and I need to take the battery out but
damded if I can ,any advice please ?
My baby just recently busted off the door. I've read all the comments of
others on this video..i just can't get it. If the door is already busted
off and I've ordered a replacement, can it just be snapped back on or do I
need to take apart the psp?
okay i got a question my umd door broke and now it off im ordering a new
on, when i put the new one on do i have to unscrew all that stuff that u
show on the vid. or can i just put the umd door on my psp. please please
reply onthis question. :)
it means that he tried to get it out, but it was so tight that his
screwdriver kept slipping and scraped peices off the screw, and now the
phillips "X" is more of a circle now and he cant turn it with a screwdriver
sorry but youtube's audioswap only had like...20songs at that time as
youtube blocked my sound and they all sucked so i choosed a random song and
i know- it sucks. i'm sorry for it but it's not my fault.
This is the only safe way. you just need to do this once, then, after you
removed the screws from the inside, you can take out the umd door and put
it back on everytime you want without opening the psp
AHHHHHHHHH i just saht myself. i'd just been listening to this REAALLY
quiet video, and i flick this on with the 5.1 surround sound on full blast.
i think my cat left pellets on the floor :0
Top left behind the battery. Black screw for getting the faceplate off.
Stripped to hell where I can't remove it. My PSP is no longer a virgin as
I've taken the sticker off.
Nice tutorial but I ended up stripping one of the screws behind the battery
so I never got that far. Any idea on how to fix that because I have tried
about everything.
Do you have PSP 3000? Could you make a tutorial of how to assemble and
reassemble it? I want to change my black PSP 3000 with white housing. But I
don't know how. D:
ok i understand, I was just having a bad day when I slagged off the
"music", probably cos my PSP was broke, Sorted now tho. And as I said
before,,,great vid, thanks
yea it will brake if you're not careful ;) well there IS another way, and
it doesn't even take 5 seconds ;) its fast and stupid, if u know what i
mean ;)
If you do all that once and leave out the black screw then you can just pop
off the UMD door with out having to open the PSP up again?
How to replace UMD door on PSP 1000
This is my first youtube video. This video shows you how to replace a UMD door on a PSP 1000. I tried to make the video under 10 minutes. I work slow, so I ...
Here is the PSP 1000 UMD door removal process. Yes, this will void the warentee. The Artist and Title of the song is: The Cardigans - My Favorite Game.
This is a great video. I am new to console repair but not hardware repair.
The few places that fix PSPs charge a fortune. I'm thinking of getting out
of the PC/Laptop/PDA repair & into console repair. I am practicing on my
PSP-1000. I have a broken UMD case cover. One of the plastic hinges is
broken. It will hold together fine, but if you are not careful opening the
tray, parts fly everywhere, so I can just take the door out anytime. Do I
still have to take the PSP apart to get a new door in?
When my old door with the hinge broken on the left side is off, I can get
the new door to seat fine on the left side. But, when I try the same thing
starting on the right side, I can never get that end in. I don't know if
its 1 of the 2 screws you got to take off or a piece of the old door stuck
in there.Anyway,I'm definitely going to use your method to try and get the
door in.Would you happen to know how to get a new headphone piece in the
gaping hole where it used to be?
@hydrolisk1792 i deal with these everyday too and the two screws have
nothing to do with the back cover on a phat model. You dont have to take the
whole thing apart thats just a huge waste of time and psp's are easy to
damage inside. Its all easy if you know what your doing! but seriously go to
a pro!!!
@hydrolisk1792 hey i bought 2 brand new umd doors to fix my scratched umd
doors one went in beautifull the second one that was brand new was fucken
warped brand new man , it doesnt close flush all the way its a bit open in
the corner , this pisses me off lol ,
@MrSargeHawk If it is off the track, you can try to snap it back in place,
but you risk breaking the clips that the door rides on. It is recommended
that you do this in the video to makesure that you don't breake anything.
In order to remove the UMD Door, you don't have to remove the two SILVER
screws (From the back of the PSP, The left side of the Battery compartment
closest to the UMD door) on the left side of the battery compartment.
I'm having a bit of trouble getting the cover to sit back correctly at the
bottom, there's a bit of a gap. Do I just push it in some more? I'm
reluctant though as it could break the little tiny bits on either side
Be very carefull on taking off the LCD. You need to pry between the metal
bracket and the screen itself to get it off. Remember, there are some
cables behind the screen, so use caution when removing it.
lol i have trouble doing this with two hands , how the hell you do it with
one hand . so is putting the door back on a reversal of what you just did ?
cos my umd door is warped and doesnt close flush
Oh lol, well anyways, I got my brother to get them off, he had a really
tough time too, now I'm basically just stuck on removing the LCD screen,
I'm not exactly sure on how I should get it off
Oh, your PSP bricked after? WOW, okay, it is a bit hard to explain here
about how to unbrick, but there are loads of vids here on youtube on how to
unbrick the PSP, some of it involves CFW.
Got it done!! Painted it Red just for looks, it was a bit of a pain to get
the door back on, but all well it ends well, and now my PSP is somewhat
red. I appreciate your help! =D
@MrFrozar Hey ass wipe, I am a pro :) thanks and have a nice day. I learned
this the hardway by trying to take the door off the "MrFrozar" way and
fucked up a door, so yeah.
hey when removing the umd door is it nessesary to really remove the two
bottom screws under the lcd screen ? what happens if you dont , and try
removing the umd door ?
hi there.. i have a psp 1000 and u no the switch to open the tray?.. well
myne is broken and i need a new one.. the clip is bent so i cant close the
tray. i need help
I'm really getting pissed off, I'm trying to remove two more of the screws
where the battery goes, and I CAN NOT GET THEM OFF!! Any tips? They won't
budge.
:D And, if you play PS3, I'd be delighted to add you. I play modern warfare
2, World At War, Modern Warfare, NFS Shift, and Lair. My ID is neutronicnic
To purchase PSP repair parts or get your PSP fixed by the pros go to: //www.ConsoleZombie.com/store/ This video walks you through opening up your PSP ...
I have a different issue and I don't want to void the warranty. My UMD
brace has come off the tracks on the side or the door, but is still
attached on to the main part of the system. How do I reattach it to the
door without taking the entire console apart? Thanks for the help!
+Jonathan Larrimore Mate same problem i just don't open it i just cracked my psp and play games downloaded from comp with iso.. ik its 2015 and i still play psp because its a old and good reminder of old times..
psp not reading umd (how to fix it)
It would look like this if your UMD door was off. You should open the UMD door and carefully manually move the laser to the right side of the assembly.
i had this problemn on a red psp i had got actuallly u can test to see if
ur psp's lazer is good if u cant see the red lazer u may need a new one, I
bought a psp one "faulty" and one that was fine and the one faulty had the
same issue as mentioned above i was amazed xD
