Potassium Permanganate(KMnO4) is a very strong oxidizing agent, this can be demonstrated by placing certain organics in contact with the dark purple oxidizer.
In this video, a few drops of glycerine are placed into a pile of potassium permanganate. Potassium permanganate is a strong oxidizing agent and glycerin is a ...
Thank you for your question. I have also tried that yesterday using the
glycerine bottle, the fire can still be observed inside the bottle and the
bottle burst finally, so I think the reaction can still occur in sealed
condition. Though as that video was not very good I did not put it here.
I did not make the glycerine, it is often sold as emollient. It should
available at most drug stores. Potassium permanganate is just a water
cleaning agent, I also buy that from drug stores. For your question, I am
sorry to say that I really don't know, but I may try that..
I used nearly 1 hr to clean up the mess, LOL! KMnO4 is potassium
permaganate while glycerine (also called as glycerin, glycerol) is
1,2,3-propanol. These two stuff undergo vigorous exothermic reaction to
give out the fire.
potassium permanganate is hard to find in america, our government cracks
down on stuff like that and ammounim nitrate. Because all one would have to
do is mix them with fuel and they have a bomb.
Might want to explain more so you can keep our attention. Unless you often
watch or look at things you have no idea what they are. Then keep it as it
is. By all means
It should be from my camera. I have that sound in all of my videos, and I
don't know why(no, that's not image stabilizer, my camera is not that
up-to-date).
Elementary Productions: Oxidation of Glycerol by KMnO4
Potassium Permanganate is a very powerful oxidising agent, and will even oxidise a triol. After the reactants has reached the necessary activation energy, the ...
Hi, Potassium Permanganate is not dangerous, per se, but will stain your
skin if exposed. I dispose of the waste product by dissolving it in water,
and adding sodium metabisulfite to reduce it to manganese 2+ ions
(colorless). This I flush down the drain with plenty of water.
I made it once, and it scared me...really. The energy realeased during
detonation is simply too much for me to handle. I do not have the necessary
protective equipment either. I'm gonna have to say sorry on this one :)
If a large amount of KMnO4 is added to a small amount of Glycerin, it will
probably work, but ignition is more "guaranteed" if the Glycerin is added
to the KMnO4 :)
Hello Chemists. Today I will be showing you some reactions involving Potassium Permanganate. This compound is a powerful oxidizing agent and this propriety ...
no one even listening to the poor guy and he doesnt seem to care
Glycerin - Permanganate Torch
Oxidation of Glycerin by Potassium Permanganate
A few drops of glycerin are placed into a hollow in a pile of potassium permanganate. Potassium permanganate is a strong oxidizing agent and glycerin is an ...
Permanganate and Glycerin = FIRE!
Use Glycerin to make FIRE... 1. Put approximately two heaping tablespoons potassium permanganate in a fire proof container or outdoor surface. 2. Add several ...
What would happen if someone used this camping, to start a fire, especially
in a survival situation. A great ideal of course. But what if everything
was soaking wet. Would the hygroscopic nature of glycerin still work????
Soak the Potassium permangante in water THEN drop in glycerin. Would it
work?????
What if someone use this in a survival situation but the Potassium
permangante was wet. Would the hygroscopic nature of the glycerin prevent
the reaction?????
