I thought I have heard almost all the famous well known spoken languages in
our present time (being a fan of linguistics!) but this is my first time
knowing about the Irish language and LISTENING to it, and I LOVE it!! It's
so beautifully strange! It sounds like Turkish and German .. a softer tone
of German, and it has a similarity to a Scandinavian language (I don't know
any of these languages, but that what it sounds to me)
I just downloaded it upon your recommendation, and it automatically chose English as a language to learn! Do I have to have an account to choose another language?
+Corey Duolingo is better than a lot of school instruction is in my experience, but there are much more efficient free tools on the internet. For example, Memrise is probably the single fastest way to amass a base vocabulary (or an advanced vocabulary for those that are already fluent) in a language.
I dont care about programs about the Irish langage. They can make those
programs all the time as if I care but when they actualy start to speak
like that ''jjdhgdf hwggwy hjeh ehhw jwj k wwwwk......'' ectcetera I just
want them to swich off themselves.
Go rabh maigh agat for the video! Ireland must speak Irish! You have been
invaded by the English so many times, Americanised, globalised etc, but the
native tongue is such a BIG deal at least in my country, which has been
under foreign rulers too and still today suffers from russification, but I
can't imagine how I would call myself Latvian if I didn't speak the
language, so Eirinn go brach!
+John SmithIt is very good that Latvian people prefer their native language. I am from Kazakhstan and here we have the opposite situation. Lots of kazakhs do not know kazakh language at all. They speak russian, think in russian. They are attracted by russian culture.Of course, russians also do not want to learn kazakh language.I hope this trend will change in future.I wish all the best to Latvian people and Latvia state. Keep your language and culture.
+Arman Januzak yes, I personally can, I speak it as a foreign language, but I hate when it's imposed upon me in my own country, and it is a problem for younger Latvians who can't find a job in Latvia, because almost everywhere the employers demand the knowledge of Russian.
