@zero1991 The battery life seems to be the same as when I first got the phone. If you don't use the phone much, the battery lasts a day or 2. Once I start playing games and watching movies, I have to recharge the phone by night fall. I haven't re-calibrated the battery as some suggest...

Why didn't you fun Quadrant and Smartbench on 1Ghz at the same time (back to back) then run them back to back at 1.2 Ghz instead of going back and forth between 1 &1.2Ghz for each test?

Hello QBKing, first of all thank you for all of your videos! Awesome job in what you do for all of us Epic users. My question is, in your experience, which Rom you think is best between this one and the Syndicate Frozen? I've got the Syndicate Frozen Rom installed and it is great. Love the features and speed. Only problem I have with it is that sometimes my phone shuts off while in the middle of doing something such as during a call, Wifi Teathering or so forth. What should I do? Thank you!

Hi, I have really liked watching your videos. Everyone i have watched has helped me out a lot. I have been running this Rom on my Epic for about a week now. It runs great. But I have a question about running OC Kernels on this Rom. I have tried 4 different Kernels on this Rom(3 from ACS) and none of them let my phone reboot, it stays on the Samsung screen. How do I get a working Kernel for is Rom? Thank you for taking time to read this and once again, thanks for making such helpful videos.

@qbking77 Yes I'm using tethering correctly. After a while though while tethering, phone get hot and shuts off. So I just sit it on top of my AC unit and that takes care of that part. As for the phone shutting off while on a call, it usually happens while I'm browsing on-line via 4G during a call, on the Market, Facebook, etc.. Don't know why this happens. I will upgrade to Frozen 1.2 hoping all works out for the better. Thank you for your response and again thank you for all that you do!

Hey qbking - So after all the ???s on the EC 22 leak, I installed this rom, again thanks SO much for your vid's, piece of cake. One ? though, and this may be the dumbest ? ever, but I backed up all apps using Titanium Pro (before doing this), and now that I'm on this rom, how do I get my stuff back? Do I have to download another version of Titanium Pro (from market), then restore? And will I have to buy it again? Thanks for all your help (as always). Thanks - Rick

@qbking77 Hello again. Well...after a couple of weeks of installing Frozen 1.2, phone sometimes freezes up requiring me to pull the battery. Tethering makes the phone hot and shuts off. Rarely but sometimes happens, phone reboots after a crash. Will continue to test it out hoping I find a fix. If not, I will have to try another rom or just go back to stock.

@qbking77 Just tried...backed up sdcard, formatted as FAT32 on my mac, restored, tried to wipe and same error. Didn't find much help by "Googling" either. What would happen if I deleted or replaced "mmcblk0p2"? Any other Ideas? Sorry to hassle you with this, I'm just getting pretty desperate. Thanks again for everything.

Let me say I've watched and LOVED practically all your vids. Keep up the great work! However, I have a problem that I am getting nowehere with. After flashing this ROM I get "E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2" when attempting to wipe. I've tried UNrooting and RErooting with no success. Ideas?

qbking77 is the most helpful individual I have come across yet, the videos are descriptive and easy to follow, I've successfully rooted my epic and I am using bamboozle as my first rom and I am over impressed. ACS is awesome and qbking, keep up the excellent work sir!

@PhreshDaBoss What did you use metamorph to do? I don't think its compatible. You might have to re wipe data and reflsh the rom.... You mean internet everywhere on your pc? Then use the app wifi tether... if you're on bamboozle download the app barnacle.

Tried ROM and loved it!(props to Marcusant et al)- BUT; couldn't get Epic Dark Horse 2.3.2 (EF02 version) to work. Kept hanging at Sammy splash screen, so had to rfemove battery, reflash, etc. Anyone else reporting issues with themes on this ROM?

Na i meant internet as in wifi wherever i go. Like if im outside & wanna go on facebook without being connected to a router cuz i know exactly what wifi tether is. And metamorph doesnt work on syndicate? Or is it just something im doing?

@aflores140 I'd say reflash the rom and kernel.. and then turn journaling on.. check teh frozen 1.2 thread for the zip to turn it on.. I also have a video shoing you how to get native wifi tethering on syndicate.. check it out.

It keeps restoring from a backup my phone must've made when I ussed rfs2ext4 a few weeks ago. Is there anyway I can stop that? Also, that CRT animation isn't showing up at all for me, probbly becaue of the restore it does.

I'm wondering something...if I'm on RFS Stock EC05 rooted and I make a backup of the entire system, may I go back incase I get a bad flash since this is EXT4 right? Would it go back to RFS if I restore the backup?

@djjroc007 I'm not sure, I doubt it. What I would recommend is making a nandroid backup... flashing the rom without wiping... and then if it doesn't work just wipe everything 3X each and flash the rom.

What themes work for the ROM? I have tried the Stock NO BATTERY theme that is a add on with the ROM and other ECO2 based themes with no luck and i also tried ECO5 based themes as well.

i went ahad and put it on my phone through 3.0.2.5 and i love it quite a few force closes though...how do i upgrade cwm? i actually thought 3.0.2.5 was the highest you could go

@aflores140 Are you sure you are using wifi tethering properly? It shouldn't be shutting off during calls though... I prefer Syndicate rom, but this rom is great as well.

@PhreshDaBoss metamorph only works when installing custom transition animations. I have a video for that. If you want to use 3g? Just turn off your wifi.

Hey qb I recently put me phone to stock eco5. My modem is on eg22. Tried to update to ei22 but won't allow assuming cause of the modem being eg22. Can put the modem back to stock without root?

@randyshear.....HELP! I went to the XDA link you provided. When I tried to download the Odin,ViperROM, Clockwork Mod, I am not getting anything. THIS IS AMAZING! I HAVE TO HAVE THIS SETUP! I did the Froyo update and my benchmark scores barely break 1000. My Linpack is almost the same though. if I sound ignorant, I apologise. I cant wait for Sprint anymore and your setup is SICK!!!

@timmyisageek Just follow the link on here, and it will take you to the page with all necessary downloads, and instructions.. You need to use ODIN to flash the DK17 PIT and MODEM files only. You will copy your new ROM to your SD card root, then flash it with CWM. Thanks!

@JohnCorleone23 If you are already on DK28 2.2, then go in to CWM (Camera, Vol down, Power) wipe cache 3x, wipe system data / reset 3x, and flash your new ROM. I have a how to video using ODIN and flashing a ROM.. Please see my channel and watch it.

@nebster7652 The wallpaper is Nexus Revamped in Android Market. It's free. As far as apps to install, it really comes with everything you'd need. Advanced Task Killer is the only other app i'd recommend. Glad to hear it's working for you!

@JohnCorleone23 You must download / install the USB drivers. Now power off the phone. Next hold the #1 key, and power buttons until you get the yellow android shoveling screen. Now run ODIN, and plug the Epic in to your USB.

@savior02 I have been using custom ROMs and setcpu for well over a month, and have not noticed any extra battery drains, and it is almost impossible to brick these.. ODIN3 can usually restore anything back to stock, Thanks!

@jsammy44 4G everything seems to work fine. I don't have 4G here, so unsure of that. GPS is working very well now. As far as cons, occasionally I get a force close, but it is rare. The ROM is very stable.

@sockaplaya dont worry about it, the lagfix just increases i/o slightly, it is not a real world gain, it is just exploiting quadrant. The 2d and 3d scores are no any faster than anybody else.

@GeomighTNYC Before you flash this ROM, use clockworkmod to backup your current settings. If you want to go back later, just enter CWM, and restore. That's it! You'll be back to factory ROM.

Make sure you use a powered USB port. In some cases windows will fail to see the phone if the port is not powered.

Because some people clearly have problems adapting to minor changes when they used to an overlay/launcher. these are typically not the type of people watching videos on youtube on how to root/rom phones. i'm sure the average or novice smart phone user will problably have enough trouble with the minor changes like locations of different menus and launcher changes from gb to ics. I feel like this is samsung's failsauce attempt at trying to the merge from GB into ics and make "easy" for a novice.

I think all the major companies dumb down their version of Ice cream sandwich. If you take the time to talk to a non technical person who has limited knowledge they know nothing about the android phone they own. It kind of pisses me off they are wasting a great phone by not trying all android offer. And it seems like the companies are pandering to the lowest common person who is less tech savy. And thinking their enough out there for the rest of us. Sad day when dummies run android!

Have you tried combined inboxes? I usually take email notifications off of the stock Gmail app, and instead use the standard email app for my gmail and other email. And whenever I click on combined inboxes, it force closed. Really, that was the only problem I had. I tested the GPS traveling to visit some family in NYC. At first, couldn't get a lock. Then when I updated PRL and profile, it seemed to fix it. Great ROM. The combined inboxes isn't too big of a deal

Thanks for the quick reply, how long do you think its going to take to get this for root users? I used your videos to root and obtain cmw+rogue and I'm not running any custom roms! my main reason why I rooted was that I got tired of waiting on OTA's, I also wanted the free wifi hotspots to connect my tablet, which is not working btw, any tips? You are the man, and you make it so easy for noobs like me, your efforts are much appreciated!

played just fine before. Ive read its a common problem but still. I cant convert and sort 4,000 + songs all over again. And imhaving to use poweramp but the integration that I loved about the native player is lost and I want to go back. Is there any possible fix for this. Aside from keeping poweramp and/or converting everything? Any help is greatly appreciated. This has got me at wits end

Hey men o install today just like you say from stock EL29 and works great!! But i have a problem whit the stock browser dosent work i open the browser and freese all my fone for 3 min just open a white page! And after that the browser close! @ pouncdog I totally agree and they do it becauae they want to compete with the iphone. Lots of smart people dont want to waste time with phone awesomeness... They just dont care like we do. And Android is the plateform for those who give a ripe. People that buy iphones (in general) just like the simplicity (even though i think touchwiz is easy as ios).

What really bothers me about samsung is that they could not come up with their own newer version of touchwiz for ICS along with a different themeing. Its the same gingerbread theme from galaxy 2. Very disappointing and lazy. HTC at least had the decency to come out with a new sense for ICS. Lol. Either way good review and I will stay on CM9 alpha 3.

battery life seems pretty bad to me, went from 80% to dead from in a little over 6 hours with wifi, bluetooth, and gps turned off and sitting in my pocket most of the time. Swipe also breaks on me saying "Open of EnglishUS failed!". Seems to stutter and freeze for a couple seconds every now and again when doing stuff in the settings as well.

how often does an os update change a phones UI as much as GB>ICS?? froyo>gb wasn't even in ballpark as a change of this magnitude. neither was any 2.X.X update. the only phones i've seen major changes with ICS updates are the google phones. NS4g, nexusone, anything that runs pure android saw a significant theme/ui change.

Well I didn't do This method but installed calkulins rooted stock fd24. I love the smoothness and data speed boost that I've gotten,Alot. Not to mention Truly epic battery life. But my one major gripe is that my phone will no longer play wma files. Most of my collection is wma.

i installed this update and it worked well for a day but today the battery died in like 2 hrs and it wont hold a charge, also the battery status shows that android system is taking up 84% of the battery. how can i fix this? or if anything how do i get back to EL29? plzz help

The font is Roboto which is the new default font with ICS. It's not blurry or shitty to me but that's your subjective view. You can change it in System Settings, Display, Font Style 4:47. Or you can root and use Font Changer in the Play Store.

YES THERE IS!!! its not an over the air update, you have to download the samsung kies program on a computer and connect your device and open the program and it will say you have a firmware update. Just did this last night.

I had installed a fd05 ROM that is rooted. I went back to el29 to install this one and it shows the superuser icon, but it denies root access to all my apps. Any ideas what's going on? Is there a way to root fd24? jeff

ok so i did this and if you have the stock rooted el29 gingerbread it works perfectly. flawless. if you follow the steps as they are in this video it will work. thanks qb i am now running this rom. very nice so far.

go to his latest unroot video, download odin and the el29 tar file, run as if you were unrooting then BOOM back to el29, you may need a factory reset though after your back on el29

Been running this for a couple days. Very smooth. My only problem is the battery life. Even with everything turned off ( GPS, Bluetooth ect.) it still seems to waste pretty quick.

Scrolling is very Buggy with this build! Sometimes pages scroll slow other times they speed up! Whyyyyyyy??? Did you notice scrolling being an issue on this build qbking?

when i do this, it looks different from the start (different color words and different choices, but same format) and when i choose the package to install, it starts and then says signature verification failed. can you help me? also, if this helps for anything, a few differences are that my home key is the enter key and the image in the background is different and when i select the file, there is no "yes or no" option, it just automatically starts.
