Cornrow Tutorial (Dutch Braid): A how-to, step by step tutorial on how to do cornrow, also known as a Dutch Braid, or Canerow, on natural hair. Come join us on ...
@biscuit166 Hi! The answer can be both; depending on hair type and hair
length. When their hair was shorter I could do it on wet hair easily and it
would last a lot longer than on dry hair. Now their hair is longer, I find
it difficult to cornrow when wet. You should try it with wet, damp and dry
hair to see which one works best for your hair length and type. As for
moisturizer, I sometimes use a little Giovanni’s leave in conditioner or
just Shea butter. Hope this helps!
OMG!! This is exactly what I needed. I never realized that with cornrows
the braid is reversed! I used to know how to do these when I was really
little, like 5/6, but I stopped for whatever reason. And since I was young,
it wasn't like I knew what I was doing as far as the internal workings of
the braid so naturally after stopping I forgot. I alway ask my mom and she
just says "practice" -__- O mom, It's kind of hard to practice when you
don't know what to be practicing lol
As a student stylist for Empire Beauty School who hasn't learned any
braiding techniques yet, I decided to take it upon myself to learn braiding
outside of school. Today, I have watched about 7 videos (no lie) on
cornrows. I've been trying and trying and I get a mess! I watched this
video ONCE and I wish you could see my mannequin right now!! All I have to
say is WOW! & THANK YOU!! Thank you sooo much, I feel very confident
cornrowing hair. You guys are great! =D
Thank you for your video. Your video helped alot. If it wasn't for your
video I won't be able to do it coz other videos I've watched I mess up. I
watch your video 2 times and I try it on my daughter and wow it looked good
and my daughter loves it. I did half so nexts time I will do from top to
bottom. You made it look easy by using your yarns. So thank you so much:-)
I just watched your tutorial about 5 times and tried it on my doll (Im
really trying to learn this lol). I think I may have it. The yarn was very
helpful. Im a visual person also so seeing it on the yarn helped me. Now I
have to learn how to do it on my hair. Just wanted to say thanks for the
informative vid. This was the most helpful one yet.
@MzMuChi3 Ha! Ahh, sorry to hear that :). Are you able to cornrow on
someone else's hair? If not, that would be my advice. Definitely learn to
braid on someone other than yourself first. If you can practice on a friend
or even a doll, you'll find it so much easier to do it on yourself. That's
what I did and it worked like a charm :).
OMG I DID IT!!!! I DID IT!!!!! YAAAAAY!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!! Oh you just
don't know how LONG I've been wanting to learn how to cornrow AND I DID IT
watching your video!!!!! I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!! LMBO!!!! HAAAA!!!!!
Thank you so much!!! ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^!!!! I KNOW HOW TO CORNROW!!!! :D
I have watched at least 40 different videos on how to learn to cornrow. I
even tried to watch them turning my laptop upside down. You video is the
FIRST and ONLY video that made it simple to understand and learn how to
cornrow! Thank you soooooo much!! :)
omg! this is amazing. ive been trying to learn how to cornrow for days! ive
seen every video of it on youtube and nothing... but this one did it! i
only watched it twice and i did my 1st cornrow. thanx so much and i am soo
subscribing!!!
This video is amazing and really helped me understand what I was doing
wrong. I always make French braids instead of Dutch when trying to cornrow,
now I understand that the middle part goes over, not under. Thanks so much.
Thank you so much for posting this under WhoisSugar's video. I just
recently mastered plaiting my hair, and now I'm going to give cornrowing a
try. I'm going to get four colors of yarn and everything! :-) Thanks again!
My friend does hair and she wanted to know how to cornrow and it was hard
for me to explain it and I love that you use different yarn colors, so I
think she'll be able to learn how to cornrow hair.
@MrSoCo100 That's so awesome!!! I'm glad you found the video easy to
follow. You must be a visual person like me. Thanks for taking to time to
comment with great feedback. Always good to hear :) x
@GirlsLoveYourCurls it looks very complicated! lol. but the next day i
learned i did my lil sister some cornrows half way so it would look like a
headband. she loved them! lol. thanks a lot!
Great tutorial! I have watched several of your videos tonight! I'm going to
buy some weave thread tomorrow so that I can try the African threading
method on my daughter's hair this weekend.
Yes!!! Finally after looking at videos all afternoon, here is one that I
get. Nobody showed hand movement but when you crossed the yarn it totally
clicked. Thank you!
@Gutimt Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I really do
appreciate when people give me feedback on a video. I am so glad they
helped you!!! Take care xx

After watching multiple videos of this same subject I had to come back to
say how much I love yours the most because your styling doesn't include
lots of hairbands or pins to snag braids. GREAT JOB!!!
Hello YouTube Fam, since Iv been back in Lagos, I have been obsessed with crochet braids. I went to the hair shop to check out all the types of hair I can use for ...
Wow if you hitched that's because you are highly allergic. That's why I
have only stick to expression. I had a bad experience too once to hair
extension. 2 weeks of massive itching.
Are you serious? I find that when I soak them in apple cider vinegar and rinse it out, it doesn't itch as much. It actually didn't itch at all. You can try that and see if it works for you.
Nice video +MemsNaij . I had to catch up on your videos. Haven't watched
you in a while. Wow to me you still look fabulous in that up do afro. For
real you do.
Woow u make me soo proud of where I come from. Unlike the 'akatas' in my
school, especially the african ones. Thanks sooo much nd I kno watchu mean
by it hurts, I used to cry wen I wuz lyk 6 bt by 8 or 9 yu get used to it.
And they r surprised because everyone uses weave now, sad bt true(
including miself)
lol Titi you r such a dork and I mean that in the nicest possible way :)
The way you were twirlling your head at the end reminds me of the first
time I got "attachment" in my hair when I was five years old :)
She meant real hair because African American or African women usually use
synthetic hair to braid into their natural hair to made it longer. Most
don't have naturally long hair.
