My hood does not go up high enough to take the old one's off. what do i do.

+Patsy Day If you have a Dodge Ram truck like me, this is an annoying problem...what i had to do is fully open the hood. To remove old wiper gently pull the arm as far as you can (the hood won't let it stand up) and then gently-slowly turn the wiper like a right angle to the windshield. It will do this just be gentle and firm...then press the button detail he showed in close up and pull the old wiper towards you and as you pull it off REMEMBER what it looks like now..how its facing etc. Now grab the new wiper and orient it the same way the old one was that you just pulled. hook it through the arm and making sure the squarish end of the detail is towards you and hook the round detail into the metal arm and snap in. Done.

I've worked with wiper blade companies since 1980, and the demo you did was correct for about 60 to 70% of the wiper arms. This is what the industry calls a 9x3 hook arm, the most popular. Right now there are over 30 types of arms and replacement is different for most. They all are not that easy but many wiper manufacturers have videos on line to help with replacement (Bosch and Trico to name a couple). One word of caution... DON'T replace standard frame blades (steel frame with refill) with the new style "beam" or "flat" blades. The new blades have a natural curve to their profile and many wiper arms do not have enough arm pressure to make the beam blades lie flat. Wiper systems are designed for a certain style blade, don't think you are improving by changing the style of wiper.

Hi Chris, the wipers of my 2000 grand marquis always stuck at their upright position when switched to off. Any solution to this problem? Thanks in advance.

+pee cee If the wipers stop at the position they're in when the switch is turned off (fail to park), disconnect the multi-function switch electrical connector. This is located on the firewall next to the steering column.To gain access: remove the drivers' knee bolster and lower steering column cover and follow the turn signal and multi-function switch wiring harness down the steering column to locate the connectors.The wiper/washer switch connector looks to be the 6th connector down from the left side top of the box.If the wipers now park, replace the multi-function switch.If the wipers still don't park, check the wiring from the wiper motor to the switch for a short circuit.If the circuits are good, replace the wiper motor.
