Car heater keeps cutting out Videos

Cool video Brian! I had a similar problem with my 1999 Pontiac Grand Am. The blower would only work on the 4 or 5 switch positions. The resistor block is screwed to the blower motor in that car as well. It's a simple unplug, unscrew, remove, replace, re-screw, re-plug operation. If I remember correctly, I didn't even have to remove any trim panels. Keep up the good work!

Wunderbar !! I did one a while back and surprisingly it was manufactured in Hungary, my first part from that country. The parts guy at GM told me he sees a lot of these and they overheat because the in-cab air filters cools the resistor and if you don't change them on time you will overheat it again. Seems logical to me, makes sense to you ?

another symptom on my old mans 04 duramax was that the motor will run full time with the key off. happened to him right at xmas when all you want is heat. and at buddy there, maybe would rust from condensation when you use the AC in the summer? could maybe pot it in with some epoxy or silicone, or smear DC4 on it, might collect dirt that way.

I've had problems losing the high speed fan on my 84 Cimarron for years. The resistor assembly and plug are fine, and I'd just spray contact cleaner on the plug and contacts and it would be fine for awhile. Now I use a little dielectric grease on connectors like this and haven't had any more trouble for a very long time now.

My wife's 06 GMC Envoy v8 had the same symptoms. The fan speed was low or off, if you could get it to come on. It would even stay on when the key was off and out of the ignition for a minute or two. It used ACDelco 15-80567 Control Module rather than the resistor type in this video. It's located in the same place.

I have '06 silverado and GM sent me a letter saying under higher blower speeds that smoke and or burning smell may be present. GM will warranty part or cover cost if replaced else where if i had such a problem. This may happen before failure.

Thanks for the video Brian, my fan does not kick in at all and I am about ready to take it apart (2010 Yukon xl) Is it still possible to be the blower motor resistor or is that more a symptom of the blower motor itself. 

so im going to assume this will be my problem on my 01 ram i worked fine thin a month ago it wouldnt turn on thin a week later it worked for a few weeks thin today it doesnt work again

$50- $60 for a blower motor resistor in an 05 Sierra, I have an 06 Ranger and it costs $20-$30. I quess that shows that parts differ in price for make and model

That advice regarding how to remove stupid plastic clips is great, ha ha. Considering you do this all in one take, these videos are surprisingly informative.

Question? Wouldn't it be wise to determine the cause of the short before installing such an expensive part? Just askin my friend All I own is Chevrolet

another symptom is that it only blows on high speed and most models with that problem are under special policy through gm and might be warrantied

I was wondering if the rear ac control switch on a 2002 Yukon could be removed and just have one control switch for both front and rear ac.

Did this job last year on the front blower, did the same type job on my rear A/C heater blower, GMC Envoy XL little more involved.

thats what happened on mine, the resistor was so corroded and so rusted that the mechanic had to cut most of the resistor off.

A lack of air flow due to a blocked up plugged up filter sounds about right.

Same resistor as in the toyota tacoma 05 + it fails in the same manner.

So how do you configure the new pigtail since it is not color coded

This one was likely from AC condensation and low fan speed.

+AceCustomz hmm...in most close range situations you have to aim carefully at the turret/ring or the machingun port - and you have to move immediately and hope that the player is to confused to rotate with his tracks...the T-34 dont need this carefull aiming - roughly in the center...booom.....At long range the advantage is much more greater.It s like a scalpel vs. a good, old fashioned sledgehammer...^^But anyway...it is much more satisfying to kill a T-34 in a Pz III, than vice versa...

+AceCustomz i agree with +mike C the panzer 3 just can't compair to the t-34 in game... the tank can pen you anywhere on the front in a head on fight with its gun, but the pz 3 has to flank it for a side shot...

+AceCustomz I feel that the panzer 3 lost alot of its effectiveness with the slope changes, It could easily kill the t-34's and m4's from the front but the the stupid sloping mechanics it will bounce alot more often especially with apcr ( yeah that ammo that was recommended to take out T-34's with the 50mm...Gaijin)

how? the gun only pens 50mm, which is fine for bt-50's and such, but due to the crappy BR system you'll be versing shermans and t-34's which will make the pz3 a much harder tank. especially when you consider that the thickest armour on the pz3 is a slightly slanted piece of 50mm armor which is crap compared to fully sloped 45mm of russian steel (which is effectively like 60 mm.

+AAPelaaja Pnz 3 and 4 are fucking horrible until you get to the Pz 3 J1 and the Pz 4 F2, then you get amazing guns and decent(ish) armor. and then soon you get tigers and panther and you'll be stomping for sure. Everything russian is fucking OP, but i'd go for the Kv-1 as its amazing but the Kv-2 can be a little hard as its basically a fucking barn door on tank. So if you want continuously good tanks, go for the T-34's.

I'm not looking to pick a fight and I realize your comment is old, but he clearly was doing way more than just driving a tank around. He was smashing through cars, property, and even tried to knock out support beams to a bridge. It's clear that his rampage escalated as he did increasingly more dangerous and destructive things, and he clearly tried to drive that tank into the incoming traffic on the other lane. He's far from harmless and he ignored the police's warning when they opened up the hatch, trying to shake them off. I'm glad it ended where it did, before any deaths were caused.
