Think of it as more of an NFL-Europe replacement rather than a challenger
to the NFL. When NFL makes it's cuts during preseason, that will fill the
rosters. Some players are cut for salary cap reasons and not talent. UFL is
8 games to get back to the NFL dream. Also games will be on Thursday &
Friday nights. Names are coming in the next few weeks. Spiders, Bandits,
Tribe, & Bulldogs are my guesses.
go to ulf-football. com and yes it does begin in October and the team names
have been leaked but not confirmed. San Fransisco Rockfish Las Vegas
Locomotives Orlando Tuskers and New York Sentinels. J.P. Losman has signed
with the Las Vegas franchise and many other NFL caliber players are joining
the fray, Teams logos colors unis will be out in August,
The 2010 UFL QB may come from NFL teams that have had Head coaching
changes. The third string QB is often a developmental project of the Head
Coach. A new coach wants his project not someone's project. Also NFL QBs
have only a limited number of years that they can stay on a practice squad,
before they are bared from consideration.
@17blackvampire Please remember this was posted before 2009 season. Vick
had just been released from prision and was not in shape (NFL level). It
was speculated that the St. Louis Rams would sign him, and then the Eagles
signed him as their third string QB behind McNabb, & Kevin Kolb. Outside
the NFL was UFL or Canada.
ok so wtf? if "UFL" is supposed to "begin" in October than why do teams not
even have team names? No logos or colors or anything. not only that each
team has like maybe 20 players each. how are you supposed to play like
that? someone help me out here i dont get this UFL thing. i just learned
about it today.
If the Lock out extends into the Regular season, The UFL could re-schedule
games to Sunday afternoon to fill the void. They only have 5 teams in 2011.
Maybe if an NFLPA team came in as a travel team, then the UFL could get in
three games a week.
Why the fuck can't any of these teams sign Jeff George, who's been ready
for years to join a league & belongs in the NFL?!?! ENOUGH of the
BLACKBALLING of this dude; he certainly has a better arm than any of THESE
SCRUBS & HALF THE NFL!!
Sorry but that sounds like a bad soccer league. Las Vegas has had alot of
short lived sports teams, Bandits fits and hasn't been used. Also you want
names that don't make viewers cringe if the ever get mentioned on ESPN's
sport center.
Yes JP LOSMAN played for the Las Vegas Locomotives, but at the end of the
09 season, he signed with the Raiders. We'll see for Michael Vick ( if he
stays with the Eagles with his role of a wildcat QB ).
Thanks for the information. but man I hope those aren't the team names. how
about San Fransisco Slammers, Las Vegas Explosion, Orlando Pirates, New
York Impact? haha just what I would suggest
the nfl needs a developmental league, nfl europa brought us jake delhome,
kurt warner, brad johnson, brain waters, LaRoi Glover, david akers, so many
great playersn now ufl can do the same
hah yeah i was just throwing names out there. I like to keep it simple.
rockfish, sentinals, locomotives and tuskers sound very un appetizing but I
guess they were going for originality
With 6 teams in 2010, I see 1 or 2 first rounders trying to re establish
themselves. Cut journey men, and Arena veterans who are viable to move up
as prospects for the UFL in 2010.0
Question, If your satellite dish jams up and the only channels watchable
have a UFL game and the movie "Any Given Sunday" with Jamie Foxx. Which do
you watch?
that was the worst call ive ever seen. Im not sayin the illini wuld have
scored any way but both the referee and replay official completely missed
the call...to say the least. Northwestern did play pretty well and the
Illini's defense was atrocious as it has been for most of the season, but
to me the only thing that I will remember from this game was that blown
call, which is up there with the worst calls ive seen
@NUBears That is just it. If he has possession when his elbow hit the
ground, he should be ruled down regardless if the ball came out after his
elbow hit. Any part of the body on the ground besides a foot or hand rules
a player down in college. Terrible, terrible call.
No, the rule clearly states that the ground cannot cause a fumble. A
receiver has to have control of the ball all the way through the ground in
order to establish possession if he hasn't already done so with his feet.
@NUBears If you have the footage of the angles, please post them. I get the
feeling that you purposefully left them out because you know that the call
was wrong and don't want to supply the evidence that proves it.
It was pretty clearly the right call. Two replay angles showed that the
receiver lost control of the ball immediately once his left elbow hit the
ground. He never had possession.
The ref knew he fucked up. The NCAA is that there must be indisputable
evidence that the replay proves the call wrong. Apparently the evidence was
strong enough. (bull shit)
They were left off because of the 10 minute limit. If you want to see it,
watch it on ESPN360 and jump to 3:10:15 and 3:10:50. Possession was never
established.
