hi dimitriyes u are correct , when a red light comes on the power is cut . no there is a race controller that starts the race with a green light and cuts the power when a car de-slot. when a blue light comes on it is the last lap of the race. the race controller also has to follow the race leader . we also have a 'COC' that controls the race and says who is 1 , 2 , 3, 4 . there is some more video clips so check it outregards

The gearbox control unit will have to be replaced. Costst smt. like $1000. If your car is really a 2004, it will be out of warranty and good will as well. But Audi need to be sued for this problem, because almost anyone I know who has a 2003-2005 A4 with multi gearbox has a problem with multitronic.

@7thwilliams If you take the surround off you should see a circuit board underneath with the magnets attached. Unfortunately I no longer own this vehicle, so can't even go and take it apart to help you with pictures. Good luck! If all else fails, perhaps as your local Audi Centre to assist?

@avatajo Yep! You're right. It is not flashing, that is something else. I had almost any kind of problem with the multitronic and again I can easily say anyone who has a 2003-2005 car with a multi gearbox has problems with the multitronic gearbox...

@S2M22CM: Not true... Read the video description - my fix didn't cost me a cent this time round. (I did however have the "flash of death" a few years back and had to replace the Controller Unit that time around, which cost me an arm and a leg)

cool! I got the same problem, will try asap.. thanks for the reassurance :) So I'm guessing the "static warning" where the PRNDS background is Red and the characters are black, went away and changed to normal after you fixed the magnets?

I also have a 2004 Audi A4 Multitronic. Light also flashing. Every other person I know driving a 2004 model multitronic audi has the same problem - just way too expensive to repair. Audi should be sued for this problem

Sounds about right... If you've opened the trim before, it may be easiest to start fault finding by checking the alignment and cleaning the magnets. If that doesn't work, you may need to replace that circuit board.

@noor811 pls may I know what magnet needed to be fixed and how can I get over this problem. The PRNDS light in my a4 audi always comes on sometimes. Am happy to know that this is not the famous "flash of death"

@avatajo How can I get to the magnets, am finding it difficult to remove the PRNDS +- panel.....even though the surround panel came out easily but I still need access to the magnets...pls help

@7thwilliams To fix the issue, just read the description of the video ;) Remove the suround around the gear selector lever and clean / re-align the magnets.

Sorry dude - I've sold the car years ago and an Audi Centre did the repair for me...

+nfs3fan2  Matter of fact I already order it 3 months ago and I get a lot of USED out of it. And it is perfect for my BX1860 Kubota with front end loader. And I have used it during the day and YES few of my neighbors and friends have seen me with it on going down the road and can see me within 3,000 feet. Which good to see it! :) And the cord is long enough to reach to the cig outlet by the seat.  I spend $75.00 and its worth it for me. My next door neighbor order it off Ebay for me. It came from New Jersey..

Yeah, but there is no memory so you have to select the pattern you like every time. Also this light is almost useless during the day, the LEDs don't last long, and the cord is WAY too short. Spend the extra money and buy a name brand.

The worst bit is when the textured plastics get a bit sticky. That is really difficult to clean! I like the magnetic number plate idea, I wish I'd thought of that before I stuck 3M tape all over my bumper! :( 

+Acme It was manky when it was new to be honest haha :) Though it hasn't been cleaned inside since August so I've dedicated this weekend to clean it. It is not a dog car. The hairs stick to everything. It's hell.
