greenbeanery-- LOL! You're an idiot! If everyone in New York was going to
ride bicycles just to keep from using gasoline, they'd B doing already--
and even if ALL the electricity used by an EV were coming from a coal
plant, it would still create less pollution than a gasoline car. EVs R far
more efficient, needing far less fuel of any kind than a gasoline car that
needs a tanker truck 2 deliver its fuel 2 the gas station-- & it's much
easier 2 clean the emissions from a non-moving coal plant.
jaspermets: sorry, I applaud your enthusiasm, but for any EV to be charged
in 25 seconds, you'd need a charge cable as thick as your leg, or the
charge cord would melt! The only way we would ever get to the point we
could charge an EV that fast is when ultra-low resistance conductors are
developed, probably with carbon nanotubes or similar nanotechnology. But
we're no where close to doing that now-- but so what? Anyone would prefer
driving an EV today if it only costs $5- $10 a week 2 charge!
jmotuck-- I understand your pessimism, my friend, but there is no way to
stop EVs from being used-- all you need to do is what I have already done--
see my You Tube video, "BMW EV conversion burns rubber" or any other EV
conversion video on You Tube-- there are hundreds of them-- just yank out
the inefficient, noisy, smelly gasoline drive train, and install a powerful
electric motor, batteries and control system, and never have to stop at a
gas station ever again. Anyone can drive electric!!!
if you want to know about the Subaru model, call Subaru-- the more people
that call, the more Subaru will be encouraged to sell one to you-- but
there are already several other smaller EVs being sold in Europe now, and
soon you should be seeing mid-size models such as the Fisker and Tesla
model S, which will be a tad expensive at first but will drop in price
significantly as economies of scale kick in and they are produced more
efficiently with modern assembly lines. EVs are INEVITABLE!!!
Even when an electric car uses coal for it's electricity it emits less CO2
due to the efficiency of the motor. Combustion engines turn about 85% of
the energy produced into waste heat. Not to mention you even get a choice
to use a renewable clean energy source, you don't even get that choice with
a combustion car. An electric car can also be run off completely clean
energy if you want and never use coal.
Who else is frustrated as hell how we keep seeing all of these awesome cars
that never go on sale!!! Always 2 years away...two years later...only 2
more years. I'll believe it when I see them on dealers' lots.
How will you know when it comes on the market? I have heard of Mitsubishi,
Nissan, Smart, and Volvo are looking at breaking into this market, starting
in 2010 and I want one! Give me now, I pay!!!
I can't wait till we see dealers selling electric cars for the about the
same price as a gas car, if you can even find one, it costs 3 times as much
as a gas car......
Knee Sawn ? Its pronounced Nih San you dumbass colonial! You don't say Knee

NYC's First Electric Car Charging Station
Mayor Bloomberg unveils New York Citys first electric charging station for nhybrid cars at a Edison ParkFast location.
I think there is no need for charging stations. Automobile Manufacturers
have discovered how to build an Electric Car that charges itself while you
drive.
