dude this was the beta testing model with the tesla battery which is why it
was so expensive, the new ones cost $25,000 with $7,500 tax rebate so
around $18,000 or more with options, and the new one is faster, has more
range and is overall 1000x better than this one, the new one has the
facelift which looks so much better than this one
@Herik77 I don't think you understood my comment. My point was to show how
pathetic the Smart's performance is on the road. Car companies usually post
0-60 mph, or 0-100 kmph. Looks like someone at Smart is embarrassed to post
their 0-100 mph time, which would be like 20-25 seconds or something. LOL
I bet this is a bit late to tell you now, but the 2011 Smart EV was nothing
more than a science experiment. They brought out a new one, being
manufactured and sold for $23-25,000 before various federal and state
reductions.
Who in the hell thought that a 30KW motor was a good idea? And what were
they smoking/drinking/shooting/snorting? The gas Fortwo has a 55KW engine
so why in the f*** did they not give it a motor in the area of 50KW
45 K ?????!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!! You can get a volt or a nissan leaf
much cheaper than that. and those cars have higher miles per charge plus it
can go more than 60 MPH
@tfbekkProductions I'm guessting 60mph as he said "all out"
Electric Drive Smart Car Review
We test drive one of the first Electric Drive Smart Cars in the USA. Please give a thumbs up if you liked the video, thx. Thanks to The Smart Car Center in Fairfield ...
We’ve got a Smart fortwo Electric Drive Smart Car under test for a year,
here at greentravelguides.tv. It became evident that the diesel car sitting
on our drive simply wasn’t being used from one week to the next. It made me
realise how often I need to travel more than 85 miles in one day, which is
only about once in two months. So now we’ve got rid of the big car and hire
one when needed.
If memory serves, electric vehicles have been around 50 years longer than
petrol powered vehicles. The only reason petrol powered vehicles really
took off is because of the electric starter motor. So in essence, petrol
powered vehicles owe their existance to electric vehicles. Without the
electric vehicle, we wouldn't have petrol powered ones (more or less).
Yes the electricity they use is often from fossil fuels,,,BUT,,,how much
power and fossil fuels are burnt?,,,,30Kw motor in this light weight car
verses say a 90kw(guess) in a corolla is much better. Simply the fact the
whole car is lite and efficient means great savings.
There's just something about the sound of that electric motor!! Man it
sounds lovely!! 10 times better than any stinkin V8! I wish Australia would
get out of the stone age and import electric cars. I'm getting an electric
motorbike this weekend.
@pcarlson1979 Electric cars unfortunately don't solve the problem. It takes
something, usually a fossil fuel, to create the energy. Plus I'm not sure I
would trust how long the batteries will last being constantly recharged
daily.
I'm always thinking like if one night you come home and forget to charge
your car then what are you going to do you can't just go and get gas and
fill up your car you have to ride the bus your something else so yea your
screwed
At the time, July 2010, you could only lease the car and it was $599/month.
On their website, Smart Car shows an MSRP $25,000 for the Electric Drive
Smart. I guess that means you can buy or lease it.
the 2013 smart ed is faster, has the facelift which looks way better, gets
longer range, and everything about it is a big improvement over this 2010
version, have one on order right now cant wait
power wheels for adults , that's what my buddy said and i thank its funny

Guter und wirklich objektiver Test. Alles in Allem ein gutes E-Auto für

Nice video I don't understand German but I like the images is this the gen
2 or 3 smart ED it doesn't have the LED daytime running lights so I assume
that it is a gen 2 with the Tesla battery pack.

//www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/smart/fortwo/2015See for yourself. The car actually is safer for side impacts compared to most cars on the market (side impact tests are done across vehicles of all sizes), and most categories are at the top of IIHS ratings with a few Acceptable categories here and there. The electric smart has extremely little rollover risk due to a very low center of gravity (thanks battery packs!), but if you do rollover, the smart's roof/safety cage can sustain more pressure than most any vehicle on the road.
