Yes, that was so annoying. People should know what they doing before uploading videos on youtube :-/. But still, tnx BlenderWiz for uploading tutorial, we need those, very useful.
Ok I have to say this is by far a very hard project for a beginner like me.
I've messed around with blender off and on since 07' and could never really
sit down and learn it. Until I found this video I have been determined to
learn again and so far my car is kinda shaping up. Looks similar to yours
but lol not great like yours. I spent 3 days trying to perfect the hood and
now im at the point of your video of trying to figure out how to do the
bumper and I'm stumped now. But anyways, Thank you for for posting your
videos they are fun to follow along with but I have one request. Could you
please move your extrude region over so we could see what buttons you are
pressing, Please? Keep the videos coming :)
It's been a long time since your comment, but for others in your position, I recommend learning about edge control and edge flow, as those concepts are essential for modeling organic hard surfaces.
Well, for the first few years, I sat down and just made stuff. It wasn't anything real, nor did it actually look good. Actually, most of it was pretty terrible and should be forgotten. That was all in and before blender 2.43. For a while, I was pretty frustrated with it since the same button seemed to do 3 different things and I didn't know why. I let it all sink in for a few months. Then I found BlenderGuru and did a few, and suddenly the buttons started making sense. Then I started experimenting with stuff again, but this time without trying to stay comfortable or making anything real. I'd end up with these multi-million poly objects that would crash the computer every few minutes, but I kept going. Eventually, I started figuring out that one, there are ways of faking geometry if I need it, and two, I don't necessarily need as much geometry as I was putting down. In fact, the simpler my geometry became, the better the render turned out since everything was much smoother. So basically, I learned from smashing my head against the desk for a few years, then from BlenderGuru.
When I recorded the second video, some of the video data had been corrupted resulting in some glitches. I went back over the original data and found that really the entire file folder had been damaged and major parts were lost. I finally got around to re-recording it without the glitches so people can see what is going on.
