3:07 Sankta (swedish spelling for santa) Lucia is the Bride of Christmas or
the bride of Swedish Jul (the swedish world for christmas) or the bride of
swedish Jultomten (the swedish name for the fat old hubby with the red
clothes and the long, white beard AKA Santa Claus!) Assimilated catholic
saints. See "Festa di Santa Lucia" and "Festa di San Nicola":

+Anonymoussomeonenr1 And with assimilated catholic saints I mean these figures got assimilated into the swedish christmas traditions! (Which happened some hundreds of years ago, so these are relatively old swedish traditions now!)
Christmas fact #11: Christmas is a pagan holiday and has nothing to do with
Jesus . Christmas fact #12 : Jesus wasn't actually born on December 25th .
Christmas fact #13 : decorating a Christmas tree has nothing to do with
Jesus and everything to do with fake pagan gods . There are some meaningful
facts you should know about Christmas my dear and unknowing reader of this
comment .
+ray ray Didn't say you did, the original comment was stating how they believe it was not about Jesus, therefore your comment "really puts people in the Christmas spirit", which I'm assuming was sarcasm led me to leave a valid response. So my comment still stands, Jesus =/= Christmas Spirit.
+Nathaniel C only fact#12 is true..ehich i learnt from The big bang theorybut it is celebrated for Jesus

Ok... That drinking tune is mostly sung by people about the age of 55+ or
even older. It's the kind of embarrassing thing your parents and
grandparents do on the occasional family party gathering, and that as a
young person, you want no part of.
Otherwise, yes our main xmas celebration is on Christmas Eve, not Christmas
day. The lye soaked cod fish is called "lutfisk", (translated into "lye
fish", and is a old traditional xmas dish. It's dried cod fish that is put
in a lye to soak about one or two weeks before ingesting. By that time it's
gone from a flat, batwing-looking dry husk to a thick white gelatinous
blob. It looks and smells absolutely gross, and very few Swedish people
except for maybe the occasional senior citizen have at the xmas table
anymore. (I can't account for the flavor because I've always refused to try
it.)
+My2Cents I'm 19 and I still sing along. I don't mind it, because it's just a fun thing that people do for the hell of it.I think it's a bit more individual and nuanced than that. Of course, I could see why you'd be reluctant to sing "Helan Går" (or any other drinking song for that matter).
Really nice to see that you was in Sweden and had a nice time there, I am
also had my first Christmas in Sweden, I am Chinese. I just started a small
