Lincoln's Journey - Autoline Daily 858
Subaru announced it will introduce the 2013 Legacy and Outback models at the New York Auto Show next week. A new study from J.D. Power says a customer's ...
That was a great Audi commercial! No not really. You basically told us how
great a car was and not much else. Sales pitch has been sent! IDK maybe I'm
too young to get this but I would have rather seen how great the car is
instead of only verbiage about how great it is. But how much can you fit in
8 min right? And the new Lincoln designs are downright TRAGIC, old, &
BORING. As it's targeted audience? I desired something sharp and bold from
them. Gas prices are worrisome, I might buy a motorbike
It is all subjective no matter how different your eyes are. I.e. model A is
better than Model B. Model A has stunning blue LED eyes, an extremely
traditional yet classy outfit that has hardly changed in the last 10
years. While Model B is showing too much skin. Her voluptuous fit body looks
strange even wrong. Model A might be your ideal, traditional, timeless
beauty. Model B might be your flame of youth, rebellious, complex just
keeps on burning. Apples to oranges or whatever. Preference L to R
Not true. I like Lincoln and I tend to root for American brands. Lincoln
has decent interiors. I think they're an underrated brand, but they have
shitty exteriors. And I don't know what they're trying to compete with.
Their style appears to be, leftover ford parts. They're not athletic like
bmw or audi. They're not full of gadgets like merc. They're not big and
bold like Rolls. Not really luxury. They're a mess. The MKT is the ugliest
car since the Tribeca. There are nicer looking minivans.
Aside for the MKZ concept those were the current Lincolns, developed and
deployed before the plans to turn Lincoln were penned.. Also I would not
characterize the cars as "ugly", as that are actually quite good looking,
but unattractive, you just don't want one. If Ford drags its feet turning
Lincoln around, I would wholly agree that FORD is throwing away money if
they don't make really good to great product ASAP. They also need to stop
be cheap with the brand, their biggest problem.
"Different eyes see differently." That said, BMWs look strange even wrong,
Audis odd/doughy, and Mercs gaudy. Caddys look bold and solid. Lincolns
look good, but are unattractive, not ugly or offensive. I'm NOT flatly
defending them. I'm not given to absolutes I don't believe are true. The
MKT, like the Aztek Concept, was a gorgeous concept, then allowed bean
counters too much of a say. FORD/Lincoln needs to stop being so cheap and
end this practice of "Aztek'ing".
If I were them, I'd go back and bring some of their darth vader type
designs back. There's an article called "college student upstages lincoln"
or something like that, about a concept for a 2025 lincolcn continental.
That is kinda close to the direction I think they should go. I'm not a huge
fan of the way old lincolns ride to be honest, or the big couch front seat,
but I think there's a market for that type of car. I don't know why they
don't pursue that either.
Yeah I get that, but you can appeal to more eyes if you design better. And
yes BMWs can be strange, but the M series tends to look good and the lower
models try to reference the M line. Audi is modeled after the R8, Mercs,
the SLS. Caddy only has the CTS. So everything follows that. Lincoln has
none of that. The problem with Lincoln is that they're modeled on fords
which look better but are cheaper and come with similar gadgets. There's no
reason to buy them.
I agree with you Lincoln is not doing much right now to make themselves
special. Just glorified fords. This new MKZ is supposed to be a new era in
which Lincoln will become its own. Hopefully they can do something similar
to Cadillac, and really become their own. Love the brand, and wish them the
best, but if Lincoln does not start producing product people actually want,
their future does not look so good. PS Lincoln bring back the suicide doors
Maybe because Ford has more efficient power trains. Maybe it's because Ford
has superior cabin tech. Maybe it's because Ford has better ride quality,
which is important in a luxury car. Maybe it's because of Fords unique
styling. Maybe because of interior noise levels, or lack thereof. You don't
think period.
I can't wait to see the 'rejuvenation' of the Lincoln brand, I have a 2003
LS and it's a fantastic car, but I haven't seen anything since that car
coming from Lincoln that didn't make me want to yawn. I'd also like to give
kudos to the fill in host, good commentary!
Yeah I love Lincoln especially the older styles. I hope they get something
cool in the works. And they have cadillac as a model for success so I know
they can do it. It's just a matter of getting some cool ideas out that
people like. Anyway good talking to you man.
yeah I think they should make a new Town Car, with a modern body and an
optional package to have the ride and interior be more like the classic
ones. Also stop naming thins MK, that's ridiculous, they should call the
MKZ the Zephyr again.
