Facial recognition is glitchy and vary easy for a thief to bypass. As for L
alarm what prevents them from shutting the machine down? Lojack for PC is
garbage that is vary easy to bypass. basicly disable wifi, uninstall
lojack, reboot and enter bios, than flash it. poof no more lojack (lojack
for pc's has a terrible recovery rate). Pray is vary similar in function
but still vary easy to detect and easier to disable becuse its not
reinstalled from the BIOS memory..
Using Luxand face recognition or any sort of face recognition is a BAD
IDEA. All you are doing is adding vulnerabilities to whatever security you
already have. You think passwords are not secure? Maybe not. But the
password protection doesnt disappear, it is still there and can be hacked
just the same. Add to that the face recognition software, which has its own
vulnerabilities and reputations.
This is nice but what if the thief doesn't care about the data & system and
the only thing he wants is the laptop for using with his own fresh OS (HDD
previously formatted)?, or even if he's interested in the data he may just
remove the hdd from the laptop and plug it in his own computer as a
removable device?
why would somebody steal macbook? lolol (overpriced proprietary junk)
Seriously though...you take a screw driver...take the screws out...pop it
open...pull the battery. And you do it away from your safehouse....then
bring it home. For the record I never done this before.... NSA/FBI looking
at this :)
lol this is SO DUMB. An alarm?? hahahaha. omg.... Best is keep SSH on
there, so you have total remote access. Work from there. And if you're
good, install a cheap GPS tracker. And always always record Serial #'s and
keep some proof that you bought it. This will be for the police later...
@polocatfan276 dunno... maybe you keep your wallet in the laptop bag. or
maybe you have an ass hole colleague or "acquaintance" ... they may have
access to a photo of you. anyway who gives a shit, if all it takes to get
past the login is a photo of you, isn't that pretty shitty?
You're overlooking the fact that most common thieves aren't the best
password crackers, so the first thing they'd do is boot from a WIPEDRIVE
disk- all those fancy anti-theft programs are gone but your DATA can still
be recovered. Physical security is what you should look into.
as long it's a conventional bios with CMOS battery support the notebook can
be opened and CMOS battery removed and then the password is gone. Just as I
do it on my desktop after I made some wrong overclock settings to let my
system start again in factory reset mode :-)
That is so lame. Thief can always re-install OS or simply long-press
power-off button so OS does not even know that computer was turned off, so
no software have a chance to ring an alarm or whatever. After that all your
stupid tricks wont worth a anything.
FULL VERSION OF LUXAND BLINK !! SIMPLY INSTALL THE SOFTWARE NORMALLY , THEN
OPEN IT UP AND CLICK " ENTER KEY " AND PUT THIS : Name: Luxand Blink Pro
Code: 8F74-CEB6-7BF7 Plz Thumbs Up And check out my channel ! ^.^
@ChocolatersPancake this video isn't stupid... you are... sorry. but the
truth hurts.. you don't even know how to spell "thief" and you spell it as
"theft" :)) sorry, but you, sir, are a fucking moron :))
wine is better overall, no "boot time", and it can run most windows
programs much faster and better than virtualbox since it is part of the
main OS and not a second thread bogging down to proccesor
And if someone snips the cord (from usb stick) and takes it with it or just
removes the battery together with power cord (no power = no alerts anymore)
your "alarm security" is fucked lol :-)
The alarm thing is pretty cool. The tracker too. But honestly, if you leave
your laptop on a table in a public place to go to the bathroom or
something, you deserve to have it stolen.
@GrudgyDiablo depends on how bad they want your data. Using enough GPGPU's
you can bruteforce a AES encrypted HHD in anywhere from 30 to 90 days of
computing time.
how about not keeping your laptop in sight in your home, or don't let it
leave your side when in public
How to Restore HP Laptop to Clean Windows Install without Disks
You can easily do a fresh Windows install on HP laptops and cut out the bloatware simply by using a built-in HP Recovery utility. This video demonstrates how to ...
Thank you for discussing all the obvious steps except for the most
important one. Where do I find "system restore". My search engine doesn't
have any results
I was given a Dell Precision M4700 at work.
It so old school, unappealing, and not user-friendly for typing.
I feel I am working with a computer from the 90s.
Had to bring my personal computer 'cause it makes me go 1 step ahead and 2
steps back.
The third connection is of course the mSata port and not the external one.
You can put 3 of them in the machine. It's nice they added the second fan
the machine runs pretty smoothly now compared to the older ones.
