What is a CHOP Aquaponics System?
CHOP stands for, Constant Height One Pump and it is a popular system for using aquaponics. This system uses the fish tank overflow to fill the grow beds.
I got so distracted by how he looks like a lesbian. I was laughing the
entire time, and missed what he was talking about. I even watched it twice
and still laughed. *sigh* Black lesbians.
Good start but after a few weeks your ammonia is going to go off the charts
because of the solids (fish poop) going straight into your grow beds. Not
good. ( good way to start up but not good long term ). Add a settlement
tank between the fish and the grow bed to collect solids. Put the solids in
your garden or on your lawn. Also add a venturi valve on the down spout of
the water line to the fish and eliminate the need for an air pump.
+JT Bear I love your video, particularly your ideas in the second half about what is aquaponics system. Something I also found helpfull for aquaponics plans pdf was Panlarko Expert Aquaponics Planner - if anyone wants to know more search on google

@SurfMonkeyCoconut wow i had no idea..in part because i just buy on ebay
and have yet to try and sell anything...on that note i completely
understand..do you guys have a blog or something that you guys can utilize
for a more direct means of selling your items? instead of having to be
pressured by ebay to make a potential nothing on your already low prices?
if so you can message me here or we can find other means of communication,
but i feel that for the items you offer and the info you give
@vewdew3 Awesome! We plan to introduce hydroponic stuff, but we need to
grow the business just a little before doing so! but thanks for the
recommendation! Ebay has made it really difficult for sellers lately
especially those who sell large heavy items such as us! Ebay puts a lot of
pressure on offering free shipping, but with low overhead items it is
impossible to cover $10-$20 parcel charges. As of April, (seemingly as a
penalty) ebay is now charging additional selling fees on the...
cool! Thx for the rating! When the plant was a seedling I set the timer to
go on for 1 hour, 4x during the daylight hours, so: 6am, 10am, 2pm & 6pm.
Basically enough to keep the medium moist through the day. Night time was
cool enough where no evaporation took place. Once the plant got larger, it
began to consume more water, dried up the rock wool much quicker and wilted
if it was without water for too long. So I eventually adjusted the timer to
go on for 30mins and off for 30mins.
@FlashGameReviews True! I guess if you don't have an aquarium, you will
need to go and purchase these items. I was under the assumption that most
people have an unused aquarium from the 80's somewhere in the house or at
your parent's/grandma's house. I think the 10 gal pumps are about $7-10 at
walmart. But ghetto indeed, however i think thats the beauty of this
system, instead of spending hundreds on a commercial system and even more
cash for proprietary replacement components.
@SurfMonkeyCoconut inded if you guys start a blog let me know i would be
more than willing to buy direct and support a fellow enthusiast ..rather
than worrying about the conclusions people at our local shops concoct in
there heads..they reported my purchases 2 times and the cops showed up and
all they found was a legit vegetable garden...probably because i moved here
a year ago and have a bald head and wear baggy clothes..lmao
@marito001 It should work, the only issue I can foresee is perhaps not
enough pressure due to the large container size. I used an air pump rated
for a 10 gallon aquarium, if it doesn't work you may need to purhcase a
larger pump. As for staying sealed, yes it will work becasue the air
pressures we are dealing with are actually very small, especially since
there is a relief for the pressure as the liquid is pushed downwards
I like your video that shows how to use plastic bottles. I added your video
to my playlist on my channel. My playlist has over 100 videos about reusing
plastic bottles like yours and is titled - How to reuse and recycle plastic
PET Bottles. Thanks for sharing your video. I think it will encourage many
people to start reusing items we normally discard and to be more creative
like you.
Thats only a guideline, observe your plant to figure out its needs. In this
video you can see I had a timer that uses the plastic pins to turn the
timer on and off, it only comes with 4 pins. I had to buy a better timer
(about $6) at home depot that had tabs instead of pins that you can pop in
and out. This timer allows it to go on and off every 15 minutes if you want.
You can find air tube kits at petco or petsmart in the fish supplies. The
valve you are looking for is the plastic one with the screw type (knob) air
adjustment. Just unscrew that adjustment a tad to allow air through during
the ebbing stage without impeding air flow during the flood stage...play
around with it to find the correct adjustment! :D
i always thought of hydropnics as warehouse projects but this totally
changed my train of thought :) really nice idea 5/5 the only part i didn't
get was the timing, i've watched all 4 parts and read some comments and
noticed that you mentioned something about 4h. so is it on for 4h and off
4h or on 4h and off 15 min? thx for an awesome idea :)
@SurfMonkeyCoconut well I have a 10 gallon pump and just purchased a 40
gallon in case it needs more then I will use the 40 gallon pump. I used the
10 gallon pump yesterday just tip see how it worked and it was bubbling
pretty well, just need to make the hole at the bottom and drill a smaller
hole and see how that works.
