there is a way to get out the disk without pulling the ps3 apart. 1) turn
off ur ps3 from the switch on the back 2) hold the eject button 3) while
holding down the eject button turn on the ps3 from the back (if this doesnt
work try it again coz it doesnt always work the first time) 4) ur disk
should just slide out like normal but ur ps3 will b making a very loud
noise. CAUTION turn of the ps3 straight after u have taken out the disk coz
the loud noise can make ur ps3 even worse. hope this helped
Ugh.. 4 days ago on sunday 1 p.m I get the light.. -.- 18 months and then
bam wow. Im gonna try the blow dryer trick one more time... Total cost
132.68 This sucks.. Its not even a new one.. I lose all my status for
single player games, especially the games that are meant for solo as in
gta4 , sr2. i could care less about the solo cod series becuase u could
beat those anydays. Just wow... Un fuckin real. HOpefully they just fix the
one I send in, instead of another used one. I have a 80gb
this is kinda of bad for sony since they still have YLOD but the xbox found
out what caused the RROD so now only old consoles can get it and if youu
send it in its fixed :D but sony dont have money to research what causes
the YLOD so lol sony players carnt say you get the RROD were better than
you now we can say FUCK U we fixed it but you still have the YLOD so FUCK
YOU and your shitty mortherfuckin crapy gayass broken console u homo FOR
THE XBOX 360 AND FUCK WII TO HELL and PS3
@snkyaznchopstx There is nothing you can do. I've gotten it twice; once the
system was standing, another time it was sitting. The first time it was
after the system had been left on overnight (I was hosting a room in GRAW 2
and didn't want to close it), and the second time was when it had only been
on for 10 minutes. The first time was in February in the morning, the
second time was in November in the evening. I've concluded there is nothing
you can do to prevent it.
Dude i Got my ps3 April 20 2006. i got my first yellow light of death on
april 30 2009. and even i got ylod i try to turn it on after 2 hours and
its still work. and now i just got Ylod on the same PS3 this january 29 and
i just fix it by my own i reapplied a thermal compound on it and use a blow
dryer to heat it up. and its perfectly working. i would like to show u a
video how i did it but i didnt took a video..
@snkyaznchopstx You can sort of prevent it, keep it out in the open, not in
a enclosed entertainment system, not on a floor with a rug, and If you can
keep the temperature of the room your plaing in under 70 degrees. Just try
to put it on a small end table infront of your T.V. Thats what mines on and
i've had it since launch, its a 80GB aswell, with the 4 USB ports. :) hope
it helps.
Hey sorry about your PS3, happened to me too, sucks that it happened right
before a game came out. (Mine broke recently and Assassin's Creed
Brotherhood is about to come out! DAMN) But I have a question since you
already sent one of your PS3s to Sony before, Do they allow you to remove
your Hard Drive before you send in the PS3? Like so that you can keep your
data?
yes there is somthing to do to avoid the ylod to help ur ps3 out u should
put a fan in front of the ps3 NOT in the back and anopther ub should only
play ur ps3 for about an hour and shut it off give it a break....and
actually i fix ps3,i fix the fat ones and i do fix the slims as well sooo
yea...
@snkyaznchopstx You really shouldn't have to worry unless u play it
allllllllll day like for more than 20 hours at one sitting. If you do this
you will find that u get the ylod very soon. The YLOD means overheating so
all you have to do is not play it alot.
ha i just got the YLOD for the 2nd time!!! && you can get your disk out by
turning off the main power hold the eject button then turn on the main
power(while still holding eject button)!! my sister is a marine she is at
Parris Island now in south carolina
@snkyaznchopstx well wut u can do that helps ( i have had mine for 2.5
years and no problems... ) Keep it in a space with at least 2 inches on
each side for ventelation, dust it every 2 weeks about and dont play like a
mad man for like 14 hrs lol
Hey I'm about to send my 80gb ps3 in to Sony, i bought it in late 2007, and
it gave me the YLOD about 3 weeks ago. And now, when i receive the
replacement ps3 later on, im freaking out about it breaking again. What
should i do to avoid the YLOD?
Hey just plug ur ps3 in turn of the switch In the back put ur finger on the
eject button turn the system on and the fan will go on full blast when it's
doing that just touch the eject button and ill come out :) trust me my cod4
got stuck to
you knw what i thik.? I think sony planned this like think about it.... y
wouldd all of a sudden most ps3's breakdown. nd sony is asking u 2 pay the
150 dollars to fix it.! What the hell man?!?!?!....... seriously just think
about it......
im getting a new one this Christmas if u know Ur email and everything can u
get Ur saved things back because im 5 pretigsed for both mw2 and mw1 and it

Playstation 3 Yellow Light of Death
The infamous ylod. It'll be about 2 weeks before I come back on. My PSN is EDJET787 just incase if your on my friend list. The cause of the my ps3's ylod was ...
I hate to say it, but I got you beat. I had the 60gb PS3 for a couple of
years. Mine YLOD and I sent it to Sony earlier this month. They sent it
back a week after I sent it to them. From that alone I could tell they
didn't bother trying to repair it. I lost every save I had for the last 8
months... anyway, I hooked it up and after 5 1/2 - 6 days YLOD AGAIN! Right
now I'm just waiting for the coffin(box) to send it back. I have also
decided to buy the slim because of it. How is your referb doing?
Well I'll tell you one thing, if you do get it. Don't bother sending it
into Sony they'll only tell what the problem was instead of even fixing it
or not even looking for the problem at all, they'll just send you a newly
refurbished one. The main cause for the YLOD is overheating. If you want to
prepare for it, I suggest you remember your PSN password so that you can
get your account back. If you can't remember it, you can call Sony and
maybe they can help you.
The PS3 Slim does heat up a little more than the fat models but the cooling
system on it is so much better. The fat model had 3 vents, one in the
front, the back, and one on the right side of it. The slim only has one
vent and it's located in the back of the system and is bigger than the vent
you would find on the back of a ps3 fat. So this way with a bigger vent
more heat gets out of the system. The fat model had a very poor vent and
cooling system.
Thanks for replying. I am waiting for my slim to arrive. I just have one
more question for you. I have been hearing conflicting reports that the
slims heat up like crazy. Sony says they use less energy so they heat up
less, but several people on YouTube say that its compact size heats up more
and they fear it will break. Since you already have one, does your slim
heat up less or more than your fat one? I don't know if I can handle
another YOLD!!!
@ROCKY98787 Yeah definitely, you don't want to send it into Sony because
you have a rare chance of them fixing it. I sent mine in for $150 because
my warranty was up, and they didn't fix it, well mainly because the
motherboard was busted, and without a motherboard it's almost unrepairable
and I'm not sure if it could've even been replaced. My best suggestion but
I'm not too sure of it, would be to send your PS3 to the Geek Squad at Best
Buy.
Yeah pretty much all 60 gigs and 80 gigs are dieing now, it's best to just
go out and get a slim. My refurbished is fine thank you, but I got a slim
instead, I keep my refurbished one stored in my closet cause I don't use
it. I just figured why not have a second ps3 just incase if something
happens to my slim which I highly doubt anything will happen, but still we
won't know if slims will get the ylod for about a year or year in a half.
I think it's good that you will get an 80gig. but when you do, try to look
for the ones with bc or the mgs4 bundle version. thats what I have, it has
some hot air and a loud fan but it is the most reliable I believe. it has
all the features (sd card slots, 4 usb ports, chrome, etc) i've had my ps3
for a year and the worst that 's happened is it froze 1 or 2 times. but
after a restart it worked perfect :)
It's most common with the 60 gigs. I highly recommend slims. I don't think
slims do get the ylod, but we won't know that officially for about a year
or year in a half or so. Because that's when most PS3's malfunction. In my
opinion don't even buy the fat models because they all eventually die even
the 80 gigs, I'm not sure about the the 160 gigs though.
The exact same thing happened to me, i was playing mw2 then i go to the
lobby nd then i went down coz some guests came, was there for like 15 mins
come back up, i tried to play but then in the middle of a game it shuts
down, im lyk wtf? try to turn it bak on nd the exact same thing happened,
GUNNA GET SLIM THO EVERY1 ADVISIN 2 :)
@Aviator178 Yours lasted almost 3 years .. that is actually pretty good for
a early 60Gb... well I hope you get the slim... I have the 80Gb model... I
will not buy the slim until this one breaks.. which wont be for a long
time... Imagine if you had a 360 .. you would have gone through 3 or 4 of
them by now.. LOL
I don't know what the cause probably was. I took very good care of this
thing. Maybe overheating idk. But it is a first 60 GB model, that's
probably the reason why it broke, cause almost all PS3's that get the ylod
are 60 GB. I'll switch to an 80 gig if they don't fix it, cause they're
more reliable.
Sony used a poor quality of thermal paste on your model, you will need to
strip it downand replace the thermal paste so the cooling system can begin
wicking away heat from the processors once again. (when th termal paste
dries up completely the unit overheats causing yellow light of death)
I know it is good for a 60 gig. But heres something weird. One of my
friends on PSN had an 80 gig at least less than a half of a year and he got
the ylod just about a week or two ago, and yet mine outlasted his, weird
huh. Oh and I've had the slim since the end of September and it rocks.
this sucks :P i got the ylod 1 or 2 weeks ago and i cant play
lbp,killzone,mw2 ec... my dad whants to just buy a new ps3 and i can pull
out the hardrive and keep is so when i get a new ps3 or...do you know
anybody (besides sony :P) that can fix it good without clearing of the data?
Okay first of all, the PC had nothing to do with it, but that could be a
good point. But if that was the cause, it would've broken earlier. I had
this thing for 2 and a half years. Second the room temperature was low. And
I don't think the calling me a fool was really necessary.
PS3 SLIM Yellow Light Of Death or what ?
Hi guys i just installed cfw 4.46 rebug rex on my ps3 slim 320G and when i wanted to play tombraider and fifa13 i see black screen so i update to rebug 4.46 lite ...
did you ever figure out what the problem was? I am curious to hear.
PlayStation 3 Yellow Light of Death 100%,Permanent Fix Complete Tear down
Hard to say exactly the reason why your system has decided to die. Usually it is because the system is very old or you play a lot which equals years of abuse.
PS3 Yellow Light of Death
Check out my new website: //perfectionalist.com My 60GB PS3 recently got what is known as the Yellow Light of Death (YLOD). The story: After finishing ...
That is maybe caused by the power supply cause you played for a little
time, that usually happens when people play for too many hours. I'm maybe
wrong but it doesn't make sense if the system got over heated that fast
I got this.... and my ps3 works OK. I just turn it off (back side), than
turn it on and it works :D
