It is hardly news that there are anachronisms in the Bible. The one that has always struck me, involving the name of Ishmael, is in the story of Joseph. When Joseph has been thrown into the pit, who is it that buys him and takes him to Egypt as a slave? A "band of Ishmaelite traders". But Ishmael was Jacob's uncle, and the great uncle of Joseph and his brothers. How could there be an anonymous "band of Ishmaelites" ready to buy and sell their cousin? This story seems to displace Ishmael in time in the opposite direction than the story Rabbi Mizrachi discusses; rather than being too young, Ishmael here seems to be pushed generations into the past.

this is the second time I watched this along with reading Genesis. still all is not clear, something is still odd and doesnt make sense. ok Ishmael is 16, hardly a baby and no way Hagar is going to lay him under a bush. ok if this story is absurd which I believe it is then so is Abraham sacrificing Ishmael. what 16 year old boy is going to let dad tie him up and put him on the alter.. none of it makes sense and I sish it did

You can see everywhere Hagar is a servant. According to God's command Abraham sent Hagar and Ishmael along with food and water ( Gen 21:14 ), Hagar went beer-shebaa first ( Gen 21:14 ), after some years Hagar brought an Egyptian woman as wife to Ishmael when they living at wilderness of PARAN ( Gen 21:21). Here is a question, How old are Ishmael at his marriage? I guess approximately 40, because Issac married at the age of 40 ( Gen 25:20 ). So, Ishmael around 40 years ( not exactly ) later he settled at Havilah to Shur ( before Egypt ) ( Gen 25:18 ). If Ishmael married at the age of around 40, Issac age 27 ( not exactly ), God called to Abraham after 25 years ( not exactly) to scarify his only son Issac. God can say Only son because Hagar and Ishmael were not in God's will as wife and son, and 25 years passed from Hagar and Ishmael separated from Abraham. ( from Hagar and Ishmael went from Abraham.). Because Abraham and Sarah living since 25 years with their ONLY SON ISSAC ( from the date of Hagar and Ishmael went.). Issac only Covenent son. GOD CALLED ABRAHAM ....... HIS ONLY SON for SACRIFICE. It's 100% truth.

read the verse care fully it's not a story book.
