+TheMikeSwitch actually many societies have survived completely without taxes. Native American societies, early American societies, and so on. "Taxes" are the result of an imbalance of power between communities and authoritarian governments. There is no service that cannot be done more efficiently and better by private industry/enterprise. That includes security-related services.
+Samuel BrownHmmm. Ok. Not sure how you're supposed to have civilization without taxes. It's only how every country in the history of the world has operated.
+TheMikeSwitch What else would you call it? If I hire you, you and I sit down and agree upon a wage, how much you expect to be paid for how much labor. Correct? If you were to come to me and tell me that I needed to pay you x amount of money or you would imprison me or seize my property in exchange for a service I may or may not have asked for, then that would be extortion, i.e. theft.
+Nicole K socialists are the scum of the earth. Proponents of state sponsored theft. Also, the mask worn by homicidal psychopath authoritarians in their rise to power.
+Samuel BrownHang on a sec ... you use the word "socialist" as it were a slur. What's wrong with being a socialist? There are a very great many of them in the world (of which the USA is only a small part). It seems to that being socialist beats being a dog in the manger.
+Dominic do I smell a socialist? Last time I checked corporations don't waste terrible sums of money because they have to answer to stockholders. I'm not a fan of oil companies but I'm pretty sure governments make more money off every gallon of gas than the oil companies without any investment or risk.
+JEAN LOCKWOOD BONNIE Because oil company CEO's need new private jets every year and gold toilet bowls and they just can't bare to eat common hamburgers, they need Swiss raised lamb burgers mixed with the tears of virgin german milkmaids. In short...because they are selfish pricks who take advantage of a captive consumer base.
+JEAN LOCKWOOD BONNIE In the USA it's extremely cheap, but no-one, anywhere in the world pays anything like the true environmental cost of burning hydrocarbons.
+JEAN LOCKWOOD BONNIE If you knew how much work went into gasoline... the cost to build a fleet of Drilling rigs, a network of Pipelines and refineries, and deal with the everyday legal/environmental issues that govern the entire industry, you'd wonder why gasoline is so Cheap! Last time I looked I could buy a litre of gasoline for less than a litre of drinking water.
we use this form of energy more than we ever have.....so what happens when
its all gone? Problem is, most people don't care b/c they won't be alive to
see that day.

Hi RangerDodd - Thanks for your comments. Gas prices move in both
directions–up and down-in response to market forces, primarily the cost of
crude oil, the raw material from which gas is made. Crude oil prices are
set by global markets, not by oil companies. Crude oil costs & gas prices
do come down–sometimes rapidly. In Jul 2008, crude oil was $140/barrel. On
Dec 26, 2008, crude was trading at $33/barrel. In that same period, gas
prices went from $4.58/gal on Jun 23, 2008 to $1.81/gal in Dec.
Since you're on the subject of supply and demand. Why is diesel the highest
priced product at the pumps since historically it's cheaper to produce than
gas? The increased cost of nearly everything on the shelves is a direct
result of diesel via shipping. Plus I noted that as the cars gas thanks
grew smaller the $20.00 fill up was being reduced to $12.00. It was then
you guys began mind conditioning America by bumping up the prices and then
lowering them to the next level. $6 diesel = $6 milk?
What really causes our prices to keep going up? All of the opec nations are
in together and withholding production to keep prices up. Crooked futures
traders are doing a pump and dump scheme making millions. First they lied
and said we had an oil shortage then they say no shortage but not enough
refinery capacity. Then they say colder winter caused heating oil shortage
& raised prices. I wish they would tell me the truth that they raise prices
because they want to and quit all the f???in lies.
free energy is over 100 years old with the work of tesla and others, the
first internal combustion engine ran on hydrogen, the model t was flex
fuel. Ethanol and other alcohol fuels were in use before prohibition but
not after. I have tried to buy hydrogen storage via metal hydride storage
which is safer than a tank of gasoline and I can produce it in my yard for
free with no pollution. Gasoline exhaust contains benzene which is a proven
carcenogen. Congrats on limiting the world for profit
Do you all feel that if take so many zeros that at least the America
Companies would not be exploring away from fossil fuels . . . Come Chevron
. . . Support The Lady Pink With Her Sea Legs ON . . . The Vessel has all
the technology to stop the addiction to fossil fuel . . .you could have
your fingers in clean energy : zero emissions zero reliance . . I have been
on station at Chevron Richmond Calif., I know you like Co-gen technology .
. YOU WILL LOVE .. . ZERO EMISSIONS ZERO RELIANCE . .
Is that right? So how did the threatening of a refinery in Texas (which
obviously has nothing to so with the price of crude) skyrocket gas prices
before Hurricane Katrina? When the price of crude remained stable, why did
gas prices spike over Labor Day weekend? I guess our holidays and
refinement facilities have a huge impact on the world oil market. Scam
someone else because America isn't buying it. Speculation on energy
commodities drives the price of crude, not the price at the source.
Cheers Chevron! Thanks for an informative video that helps to dispell some
of the ani-energy, "big oil" propaganda that is being soaked up by the
kool-aid drinkers. Anyone with half a brain cell can look up the oil price
structure and see that the big profiteers are the government who take an
average of 47 cents profit from every gallon without lifting a finger to do
the work or take the risks associated with production and sale. Oil Co's
and retailers make only a few cents per gallon.
I remember years ago when saddam defied opec and flooded the world with
cheap oil and drove the prices down to 90 cents a gallon, because he was
angry at saudi arabia and us for driving him out of kuwait and he intended
to bankrupt the 2 countries. This is the reason bush sent our troops to
overthrow him because saddam pissed off the big oil guys.Sadly thousands of
soldiers on both sides were killed. If Saddam were still in power we would
have 90 cent per gallon gasoline or cheaper.
Don't let oil companies trick you with BS like this film! There is enough
crude oil to last one thousand years in Texas alone. In the Island of Cuba
in province of Oriente (where Guitmo is for those non-Cubans) there is so
much crude oil that it leaks out from underwater caves. You can actually
see the oil bubble out. Please Chevron tell this story to a 2 year old
maybe he/she may believe it you know this film is to prepare us to accept
$10.00 a gallon gas prices in the near future!
Nice sponsored Video however if your really interested look at Chevron's
Revenue increase over the last year. However much it is costing them to
maintain these plants, they are still in the revenue streams of the
billions of dollars. and there profit margins are still increasing and in
some cases doubling from previous years. people around the world are paying
4-10 dollars a gallon and these companies are profiting billions of dollars
from this 3-4 year price hike.
THEY DIDNT MENTION SPECULATION? which is investors place a bet(futures) in
oil. in large amounts of money. speculation is a bet in futures of what
they think will happen to prices. A speculator purchasing vast futures at
higher than the current market price can cause oil producers to horde their
commodity in the hopes they'll be able to sell it later on at the future
price. (this is a big part of gas price increases) I did like the video.
very optimistic view!
sooooo...i understand having to be profitable. i understand supply and
demand. i understand capitalism. i am in business also. that being said,
how come if i live close to the refinery, i still pay a higher price than
someone a few hundred miles away or more? i'll tell you why, because you
are greedy. you're record profits over the last few years show that. you're
prices are not fair to the motoring public. you are taking advantage of the
american citizens!!
This is a very well produced and informative presentation! The primary
business of my company is alternative energy (greenEVsystems on Twitter and
Facebook), yet I can appreciate how the straight forward and concise sound
bites and visuals in this video really drive home the technological
complexity and precious nature of the fossil fuel business. Though not
depicted here, I am glad Chevron has also made investments in alternative
energy solutions.
The number of misinformed people on this page is depressing. Electric cars
need electricity which is generated by coal and natural gas. So fossil
fuels power your planet saving electrical cars. Oil is used to create
plastics which is used to manufacture keyboards so you can spew your
ignorance on the Internet. The Internet is made possible because of oil.
The machines that made your home, oil. The monitor you're reading this on,
oil.
Sorry but the main reason the fuel prices went from the $140 a barrel to
$33 a barrel was the fact that the sharp increse in fuel prices at that
time sent the consumers into a conservation mode. People just weren't
buying fuel at $4.00 a gallon. The fact of the matter is it's the consumer
who controls the fuel prices. Or the price of any product for that matter.
It's all about how much you are willing to pay for it.
This is all BULL !!! We are being suppressed by our governments to keep us
as DEPENDENT as possible.... Face it, it affects there bottom line...
Otherwise, the cost of solar panels and electric cars would be more
affordable so the average American could have panels on there roof and an
electric car in there garage... Think of the look on the Oil Guru's faces
when the price of oil goes back down to $25 a barrel..
What is Gasoline?
Gasoline is made from crude oil. But it's the not the only thing that comes from crude oil. Next time you sit on the toilet, chew bubble gum, or surf in the ocean, you ...

Green Gasoline Made From Wood Chips. Bio-mass Converted To Bio-fuel. Gas of the future.
Where one might just see a tall pile of wood chips, researcher George Huber sees something else--stored energy, and plenty of it.
Hello, I am very interested in this tech. A company here will set up forest
farming that can produce wood chip around 0.5 to 1M tons per year. How /Who
can I contact the Wood chip to Ethanol tech company to set up one in the
forest farming here? Please suggest/help.
Dear Momheng,I just check your post on green fuel from wood chip. It sounds interesting and unfortunately I am not into google + and frequently using what's app. Stay intouch and we can explore further business opportunities. Add my contact in your phone book so we can communicate further. Atif (Atlantic) +971506362699
Folks who are interested in this kind of technology might want to look into
"woodgas".
Just look for it on YT, and you'll see people running cars and generators
on wood.
No, it's not steam power, but explosive gas extracted from wood to run
spark ignition engines.
I use it here on my little farm for all of my electric power production
during winter.
What's really cool is that anyone with reasonable skills can build a
Gasifier - and power an engine with it :) .
+jeff davis Yes, you are quite right. When I saw the wood going into the hopper, and thought about how its energy content would eventually run an engine, I began comparing it with woodgas systems - without considering the differences. The coffee can and wood chips method that you described was my very first step in the woodgas game. When I saw the results, I was hooked! Now, I have a cute little gasifier that runs a 13HP engine. It delivers all of the power I need during the winter. It uses 1.7KG of wood to deliver 2HP of shaft power for one hour. What's cool is that the engine exhaust has virtually no smell to it, unlike when I run it on petrol.Naturally, after running this for a few hours, I can raid the fridge and grab a can of woodgas cooled beer :) .I would love to have a go at storing woodgas, or converting it into liquid fuel some time soon.
Wood gas or SynGas is NOT the same thing, wood gas is actually the smoke from a fire that has not been allowed to combust.Super easy to make all you need is a disposable metal container, like a used cookie tin with a lid or metal beer bottles (good reason to have a beer, too) after you've consumed the contents, poke a hole in the lid with an ice pick or small knife, rinse and dry the inside and put some twigs, wood pieces or pieces of paper in the bottle and put it on your grill or in a fire, hot plate or stove if you want your house to smell like smoke, after smoke starts to come out of the hole light the smoke! It will burn pretty high, so be careful and don't knock it over, cause it will still burn. You can also put a bag over the top and trap the smoke and save it to burn latter! You can also make a type of diesel from plastic bottles and tires the same way!Wood alcohol or the stuff they make in the video is pretty much the same as rubbing alcohol and completely different from wood gas.
