Very nice Paul and Tina. I studied ASL for quite a while myself. I also did
quite a bit of interpreting for the Deaf/Blind in my area which is
extremely rewarding. Anyway, nice job. The concepts are right on.
I don't care and I'm going to say this anyway: I have a crush on your wife.
She is a ray of sunshine and her smile seems like it would light up an
entire room! You are one lucky man to have found this woman! But I do have
a question- is she is nice like she she seems in the videos or does she
beat you with a baseball bat as soon as the camera goes off? People want to
know :)
Ok, I've gotta ask. I don't know ASL, so I'm curious. What is that sign
when they're tapping up their arm. It looks like they're chopping it, but I
haven't a clue
"Man in the mirror" in Sign Language with Paul and Tina
We received some special requests to do this song. Considering a month ago Paul barely knew any sign language, I am so proud of him! We hope you all enjoy!
Thanks. I've been doing that. Now I'm trying to get my daughter to learn it. We use to know alittle and we'd sign to each other so people wouldn't know what we was talking about. But since she moved in with her father, she's rusty.
I would have put imagine and dream together as one. Beautiful as always!
Keep it up. I have Central Audio Processing Disorder, a form of deafness.
And am becoming more reliable on ASL. Still need to complete my degree in
it. I just wish my family would take the time to take a class or something.
Also, look up Amber Galloway here on youtube for some of her videos to get more expression inspiration. She was a professor of mine.

I have to say, very inspiring.
I can see a lot of work has gone into editing it, along with making it look
super cool.
To be honest, the sign language also looks like a cool dance in a way,
praise God! :)
God Bless, and continue the good work.
This video seriously helped me, I am learning to sign because I want to be
an interpreter 1 day, and I want to open up a deaf ministry at my church
Thanks so much!
It is a form of the sign for "speaking" which uses the index finger to make circular motions away from the mouth. He uses both hands, presumably to indicate there to be more than one voice, therefore "voices"

@ladybugs221 As my understanding of it goes, Rosettastone seems to be
focusing on listening and speaking, and reading and writing, and makes use
of speech-recognition and speech-analysis technologies... ASL is not an
aural/oral language and didn't come with a written language naturally,
though forms of sign-writing have been created. I recently checked out the
Rosettastone site, and under the FAQ's I noticed the topic of headsets
(audio equipment needed to use their program).
My advise is to find someone deaf. You will know he/she is deaf because
he/she won't be speaking but will have closed captions for the video. I
always recommend Rob Nielson and you can also try Byron Bridges. There are
so many, really. If you search long enough, you can tell who knows their
stuff and who is doing this without the proper training and education. This
is the language of the Deaf. Let the Deaf educators be your teachers on
youtube. Hope that helps.
I hate that most people on here want to learn ASL because of a T.V. show. I
mean it's great so you can interact with more Deaf people ( or deaf they
don't have to be in the Deaf community) but you should want to learn for
the people not for the T.V. show. And if you don't like this comment, keep
on scrolling down and don't pay attention to it.
i dont know sign but my son is learning it due to hearing loss, so i am
trying to find classes that will accommodate me does anyone know if there
is an online class to take........and why are there so many people saying
that she is wrong, but no one has vids to show the right way, i mean make
your own vids people if you dont like what you see!
@simbafreak I didn't say I don't the show but I came here first THEN
watched it. I mean REALLY it's the same crap " thumbs up if your here
because of switched at birth" ITS FUCKING retarded SAB ruined everything.
and yeppers I WAS I didn't like help I didn't want to give help for my own
personal reasons.
Thanks. I'll be checking those out and searching more for native speakers.
I'll still you nonprofessional like Sign Language 101 as they offer vast
amounts of learning to get started. If you ever find a native speaker who
posts regular lessons on youtube or anywhere, post about it.
She is great at what? Looking pretty and being hearing. Those two things
she is great at. Teaching ASL? Nope, not great at that. Reason is, she
actually has no qualification to teach ASL and makes constant mistakes. I
suggest go finding a Deaf ASL teacher to learn from.
I don't know if you've ever tried lip reading a language you're not fluent
in, but it is very very hard. When you lipread your native language, you
figure out the words based on if they're moving their mouth the same way as
you do yours for that particular word.
Great videos. I don't care if the titles are wrong, I'm watching all of
them anyway. They are extremely helpful. I'm trying to learn sign language
with my girlfriend and this is the first place I thought to look :) expert
village. Much thanks for making these!
Yes, there is a right or wrong way. Regional differences are regional
differences, but she is not qualified to teach ASL and that is why she
makes mistakes. It is not a regional "accent." It is a faker trying to pass
herself off as an expert. Don't be fooled.
bluestar123100, yes, anyone who takes real ASL classes knows more than she
knows. She probably learned from a book. She has no qualifications to teach
ASL. For some reason, expertvillage hired her or allowed her to post using
their name. I don't get it.
cpachinojones1, just go look for a real ASL teacher, like BYUFanatic, who
has posted lessons on YouTube and has his own website too. Unless what you
really want is to just look at Melissa, in which case, go ahead, but you
won't learn ASL that way.
can you recommend any free links or sites, etc? These youtube uploaders are
all that is available for some non-native speakers who don't have the
financial means (nor are lucky enough to live among native signers). Where
else can we go?
The reason there are so many problems in these videos is she is neither
Deaf nor an ASL teacher. She is a broadcast personality "acting the part."
Please seek out alternative sources of information if you want to learn ASL.
OMG:D I love Switched at birth!! Me and my sister only got to watch 10
episodes though because we just use Netflix on the Wii:( but yeah I was in
tears when Emmet ( IDK how to spell his name ) Spoke to Bay:D
I just wanna sign I know a lot but if the videos I'm watching aren't
accurate then I'll have to start all over again I won't be able to know
what signs are correct if people don't know what their doing.

i wonder what the sign language for the Historically a part of Cumberland,

I'm learning ASL in school and these are great because I like signing it to
people who don't understand and them explaining to their faces what each
meant
I have only been learning sign for about 2ish years now, but it looks to me
that this is English As Sign rather than ASL. It's still very nice :) you
did a good job! But could someone point me towards an ASL version of this
song? It is so beautiful. This cover and the remix are so stunning :)
+Spiorad I agree, I have been working on a translation of this song with my tutor, who has been signing for 16 years. I have been signing for a mere 2 years, so if I did it on my own, I would probably have done what this girl did, English as Sign. I can just see my ASL teacher telling me to sit down, if I went up in front of the class and did an English version. A more interpretive version can be seen by tiffany.T.hill. ALI....you sign beautifully. I have a feeling you are new, or maybe teaching yourself. Keep at it, and in a year or two, you will see why people are critiquing your video. Your signs are clear, you sign well. You just learn to get out of the English mode, and sign pure ASL. It's not easy, I am still learning too!! Keep going and bravo to your courage to put this out there for good or bad.
+Spiorad You're right. This isn't a translation, it's a transcription. It kinda sucks because there are deaf people out there trying to make a living doing this. :/
