+Jen its just like the spiral you'd see on the kitchen sink when you drain water thru a tiny hole. Instead of water going down a hole, hurricane is a dense sunbathed hot air punching upward thru a hole in the clouds. It's an upside down kitchen sink.Just stir water on a kitchen sink a bit like the random winds of the oceans, then punch a hole to get a phenomenon where water spin faster as it get closer to the hole. This is "self-organization" coupled with "angular momentum conservation" (if you fancy for scientific term)...

+JT Smith I live in Baton Rouge, and I was in second grade when Katrina hit. I can actually remember thinking the whole thing was great because we got like two weeks out of school for it. I never really thought about it again until now, when we have to read about climate change for school. What happened to New Orleans seems so much more real to me now. It's awful.
I was in Katrina. I lost my whole family and my friend David. The worst about David is that I found his body under some wood and he was bloody and lifeless. Katrina just goes to show that Mother Nature can be very dangerous. VERY dangerous. I mean those winds when you walk outside. 150-175 mph on your face. 13 foot deep storm surges. State wide blackouts. I will never stay home again instead I will evacuate like the news told me.
