hey there, i have a 79 suzuki gs550e that i am having some troubles with and wanted your opinion. It was running before i put it away in the fall and took the carbs out this spring and wouldnt start, tore it apart once and cleaned it and never ran. Im pretty busy and was getting frustrated so i took it to a small dealer and had them clean the carbs up and they said they rebuilt everything. once i finally came back home i put them back in and they leaked like no other and the bike wont start at all, the gas seems to be not just in one place but every carb is leaking. its not coming out of my air filter spot at all its just coming from where the bowl and body meet. sometimes i see it ontop of the little ledge where the ends of the screws are though. im guessing the bowls are way over flooding and thats why it wont start but im not sure.

+Mason Kelly Well, they definitely shouldnt be leaking. Any time I rebuild carbs for people I do a wet test, basically fill the carbs up with gas and make sure they dont leak before I send them back to the owner

well they charged me 125 to rebuild every carb on it. im not gonna be too happy about that. but ill do it when i have time. i called him and asked maybe if he put some rubber gaskets or something like that in there and maybe they needed to swell up but he said no they are regular gaskets.

+Mason Kelly If its leaking out from where the bowl and carb body are leaking, then either the bowls arent screwed down tight, they managed to damage every bowl gasket, or they neglected to reinstall the bowl gaskets. Go ahead and pull the carbs off again and make sure that the bowls are tight and there are good gaskets in there
