+Jeran Bruce If you push the slider the ESC start regen-braking. The power generated from the motor is used to slow the skateboard down while charging the batteries.
so close, is there any boards that are regular skate boards, not long
boards? would be cool to see high speed kick flips and ollies, and pop shov
its and fucking variels
+Christopher Sanchez It's difficult but not impossible to make something like that. I saw a friction-drive mod for regular skateboards on Kickstarter not long ago.
If i were to use dual motors, do i split the ESC motor output and connect
two motors or do i have to get another ESC for the second motor? And are
there anything else that i should be aware of before i install a second
motor using your circuit diagram? Thanks a lot! =)
+Vlad Pomogaev Hey, thanks for your reply. :) Btw, this regenerative braking means it gets your batt charged while braking right? And this is controlled by any ESC?
+Tango965 NO. Don't do that. The ESC requires feedback from the motor to determine the position. Putting two motors would make them interfere with each other. Use a proper ESC that is meant for two motors.
what is you used a solar charge controller and you connect it to a DC
charger ... it would have a smaller socket and the battery would not
overcharge ... plus no fancy charger would be needed
I made this list a while ago, so some prices may have changed... Just tell me if a link doesn't work, and I'll send you another comment. Also, this list doesn't ...
Great helpful video! Do you have to use a Car ESC or can you use a boat or
plane ESC, I am thinking a car ESC has break support, but don't know about
a board or plane ESC. thanks
Thanks man! And I would lean towards a car esc: the boat esc's will die after 15minutes because they aren't designed for this kind of stress, and usually rely on water to cool them. Plane esc's can work (I've seen some people manage to use them) but their throttle control is really weird, and the brakes are completely useless. The reason a car esc is best, is because the skateboard acts most like a car. Spinning a boat or plane prop is a totally different experience, so those other esc's tend to die if used on a skateboard. Hope this helps! Hey, I just wanna say that your video is really detailed and awesome. I
planning on building an electric skateboard, and what do you think 1 motor
is enough and how big the battery should be
+Horog for a 6s battery, 1,000mah is going to be roughly 1-2 miles. so 5,000mah (my battery in the video) should give you 5-10 miles. I average more like 12-15, but that is because I am usually only going 1/2-2/4 throttle.
Regen braking is all in the esc, so you sk3 would work if you had the right esc. Right now I have an enertion 190kv motor, and in this video it was the older (and smaller) 245kv motor. The 190kv I really good if you are running higher voltages, so definitely look into that. Hope it helps!
Is the ESC really required? cant i just use a Potentiometer or any for of
variable rasistance inorder to vary my speed? And I just use a step down
transformer to charge a single rechargabe battery..so would that work or do
i have to get the charger?(3rd World Country Problems :( )
+sanath Naik for me (65kg) I was getting 1,000mah = 1 mile if I was pushing it, or 1,000mah = 2 miles of just average like 75% throttle riding. I'd go with a 5,000mah lipo just because it will degrade over time, and you probably will want to go more than 2 miles...
lead acid suck, and are heavy. stay far, far away... also, you don't need a 70c lipo.. 20-25c will do just fine for single drive, and maybe 30-35 for dual.
Hey.. the LiPo batteries 70C ones seemed to be hilariously costly..i saw an eboard for sale on ebay using lead acid batteries..do you think those will be good?
Lipo or lithium ion- the incline will all depend on your weight, gearing, and motor. Generally, a board will be able to go between 0 and 25 degrees based on your setup. I have very few hills where I live, so a single small 50mm motor was fine for me.
Haha well that's pretty sweet. As for the battery, you will see a degrade in performance after about 100-300 cycles, but they are completely usable until sometimes double that. It depends on the quality most of the time.
Thanks! and just so you know, most of the items in this video have gotten cheaper, and I can almost guarantee this exact board can be built for around 500 USD.
No, you'll need an esc.. two wires coming from the battery, 3 wires for the motor. It isn't just as simple as varying the voltage/amperage. I'm not sure for the battery though, you'd have to look that one up.

+Phuong Vu //www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__18181__Turnigy_Aerodrive_SK3_6364_190kv_Brushless_Outrunner_Motor.htmlMuch better price, and it's not a company that just pulls the sticker off someone elses junk and throws their own on it and charges 2X the price
RC stuff is not actually that good for eboards. It all needs to be custom made. The ESC is only 30% of the electronics required for a quality eboard. So that is why we are spending time to develop it.
+E nertion Why are you spending time on electronics when brands like traxxas, leopard, and castle are making some of the RC industries top electronics? - just some friendly criticism.. also; I like the idea of not making full boards yet with how many options there are out there right now, but when you do decide to- please make a mountainboard model with alluminum rockers and quaity shocks. that would dominate this industry.
Hey this looks awsome and really want one,
Question, do you need special trucks or wheels for this to work?
I have some normal longboard wheels without plastic insides and im not sure
if they will work! If you could help please
+Jan Aichholzer Hi Jan, actually you are wrong. I suggest you make consideration for the currency difference... Alien stuff is about 15% MORE EXPENSIVE. Feel free to reply and let me know If im wrong... or correct your message!

thnx.. since for an one wheel like skateboard the ground clearance is quite more, go kart wheels would suit( seen some one wheel vids n observed) i guess, or i could go for custom made wheels based on the motor dimensions. I am really interested in the electronics part coz that is the knowledge i lack. I'll check it out at the earliest i can. Now i am building a Glide Cycle(check it out! its cool) for my brother, its really grt. But since i only have sundays to work on my ideas i might lag a little bit. Thnx for your comment.
If you are looking for something that can do off road you would want pneumatic wheels (larger inflatable wheels) so they will go over bumps and rocks. A hub motor would indeed be possible if you have some sort of ability for fabrication. you could use a small 200w hub motor mounted in a custom made wheel. Sadly I would be unable to help with this portion, but an off road skateboard is 100% possible and with greater ground clearance you can get a larger battery for better performance and longer range. I hope this helps, I would suggest looking into a off road board and see what you can find as far as parts to start with go.
thnx MrLazer1211 i wan to build a vehicle like this, but since I am in rural part in a remote area of india, and skateboards are never heard of here. i wan to mix the "tlt board","one wheel" and also the hub motor in the center of the wheel. I would like to experiment on these see if it works then teach my village people which would be really helpful in many ways. I would like to know what spec motor would be better to carry a person weighing 120Kg(max) at max speed of 30Kmph off road condition. May be if you could give me a little bit more advice on this, It would be very much welcomed. thnx anyway for the time you took to help me:)
+John Ryder It's actually Kv which stands in short for RPM per volt, a lower number means more torque (which in this case is a good thing) and a higher number is faster. The current motors on the site are 190Kv and are on a 36 volt system. Which under no load would spin at 6840 rpm. I hope this makes a little more sense to you now.
+E nertion boosted boards is great for going around town the board actually has flex unlike the e nertion boards and alot of other boards, .. the only thing that sucks is the belts like 99 percent of boards have today.. battery range isnt really relevant anymore because you can hotswap batteries with 2 boards in the market today..
+William Martin ok understand, thanks for the clarifications, there is definitely an huge knowledge void when it comes to electric skateboards & performance specifications.... the more we can educate people the better!
+E nertion Don't worry! I am criticizing boosted boards not you. Boosted boards best model has 7 mile range and 22 mph. And it costs $1499. Moav up there seems to think that boosted boards are better than your kit. But he is dead wrong because they are worse and more expensive.
+William Martin Does Hi William, where did you get this information from, is not correct based on the published specs found at the manufactures websites! Also does marbel actually have a board available? I really hate mis-information... so Just to clarify zboard top speed is 32kmh & range is stated at 25km - Marbel claim 40kmh top speed... & range of 25kms.... Our latest battery technology (this video is old) offers 30-35km range (depending on rider weight - i'm 95kg) & our propulsion system is a dual motors system, if we had just one motor our range would be even greater! We also can offer pulley performance upgrades to increase top speed... 45km/h is pretty fast though!
this motor is good to make the eletric skateboard?

No a-fence but Dude your kind of Dumb I made a electric skateboard for
around 45-60 $ by pulling a dewalt drill apart and rewiring the battery
pack and welding sprockets on the motor and trunks that I got from an old
chainsaw
+Jamal jabbar I think that was a dumb comment. Because this video is about a nice looking skateboard not a Dewalt drill taken a part and to look all crappy. Plus I looked at your channel and couldn't find any video of it. So as of right now you have nothing!!!
And also the fact that good electric long boards on the market are DEFINITELY not 600-700$ but ,more like 1000-1800$... ( Boosted, evolve, marbel , Zboards good models )Get your facts right, for 600-700$ you either get a poor Zboard model or a super heavy meant for kids brushed motored board.
Hola, please check with our amazon store, we have 5 kinds of E skateboard,
junior //www.amazon.com/dp/B017YKRTUW ,and for madman ,you could take
chain driver, .. we are professional design studio , trikkle and RAZOR is
design by us.you could share our page in your friend,we will provide more
amazing parts for you free
This should definitely help those that do not know or are afraid of
skateboarding, you should go to Dragon's Den with this, I would buy one,
cause I don't know how to skateboard and I keep falling of and hurting my
self, this would def. help me learn balance rules and basic skateboarding
:D !
Could you do a future video with more detail of your new set up? showing
all the wiring, I feel that would help a lot of people to better understand
how you wired up the Duel system.
Excuse me sir, so if I used this motor-
//www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=35029&aff=1545616
and this mount-
//diyelectricskateboard.com/product/single-truck-motor-mount/ ( with
the 63mm SK3 Motor option) and I already have a deck, esc, reciever,
batteries, etc. would that be a decent configuration?
+ZSDesign Also if you wouldn't mind, what battery did you have when you had this setup (if this was in this video or any other video I'm sorry for not noticing)
