And another thing, the pictures of the fair people in this video are total propaganda, there are a few Cypriots like that but the massive majority of Cypriots are very dark. If you are expecting to meet many Greek Cypriots like the ones in this video you will be greatly dissapointed because it's total bollocks that Cypriots mostly look like that.

I am a Greek Cypriot who grew up in the UK. This whole thing about Cyprus being Greek has left me with nothing but an identity crisis. My parents always told me I was Greek. If anyone asked where we were from we would say we were Greek. I grew up believing I was Greek, but then I was confused when everyone else would constantly mistake me for being Asian or Arab. To be fair, in the UK, there are so many Asians, that if you are dark you automatically get pigeon holed as one of them. I never liked being mistaken for an Asian, because I felt like I was Greek....that is always what I was told. I use to blame everyone else's ignorance, and think they were stupid because they couldn't tell the difference between an Asian and a Greek. Now I am older and more wise and I realize that they were not stupid at all. I am not Greek, I am Cypriot. I am from an island in the middle east, and my looks are exactly as they should be for someone from a middle eastern island. We tell ourselves we are Greeks. Our culture is Greek. Our language is Greek. Genetically though we are not greeks. I DO look Asian or middle Eastern. I am NOT caucasian looking at all. All my ancestors have come from Cyprus and as far as I know they were "Greek Cypriot". I am living proof that we are much more Arab looking than European looking. I am living proof that we are not ethnic Greeks. if I had grown up being told I was middle eastern rather than being told i am Greek, things would have made a lot more sense to me. I am a middle eastern man not European, not Greek and I am from Cyprus. We have nothing to do with Greece, it's just an ancient culture that the middle eastern people of Cyprus followed and it has stuck with us to this day. People from Cyprus who insist they are white and Greek have a complex i'm afraid, because they are neither, they are middle easterners who follow Greek culture. That answers all questions about greek cypriot identity and who they truly are. If you don't agree, you should take one look at me, a true Greek Cypriot blood, and you would understand.

Grivas was the wrong person for such venture. He was a collaborator during the German occupation of Greece and was responsible for many murders in cold blood. He targeted resistance fighters and took an oath of allegiance to Hitler. The British knew about his treasonous past. Still they used him when they landed. They found him useful to fight against the partisans who were till then supported by Churchill - being he only effective fighting force in Greece during the occupation. However, as they were against the return of the foreign king, suddenly they became the enemy. The foreign kings that the British and Americans imposed on the Greek people were ousted eventually after about 20 years.

This is how the Conservative British Government rewarded the Greeks for fighting on their side in two World Wars.

Anyone who is watching this remember to take into account how one sided this is, the Turks of Cyprus faced an excessive amount of persecution from the Greeks both mainland and Cypriot and this documentary leaves out a lot of that just to portray the Greeks as the only victims
