Karate Vs Wing Chun
A Wing Chun Practitioner goes to a Karate school to challenge them and test his abilities.
it went from a stand up battle to a wrestling match in about 2 minutes...
that does it, when I have a son, I'm making him learn how to submission
fight.
+Dominick Tran Even if you don't like grappling you should at least learn basic guard recovery, sweeps and sit-outs. The karateka was as lost as a headless goose when the fight hit the ground. I'm not a fan of karate or wing chun (by personal ,preference not in disrespect) but if you study them you should really add groundwork. Catch wrestling as the other gentleman said, or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (or even both) would be great additions.
I have no idea why everyone sees one martial art as superior to another. It
honestly depends on the fighter and his or her skill. The art has nothing
to do with it, as they all have been proven to be effective. It matters not
what system you are in, it matters your dedication and will to train. And
even then, you have to accept that you can and will be beaten just as you
can and will beat someone if the time comes, whether it be wrestling, any
form of karate, any form of gung-fu, boxing, etc.
+Slade Woodward Conditioning is certainly a big aspect of fighting, but some styles are better suited toward other styles, which equally makes sense. I'm not saying that any one is the best, but some are better against certain ones than others would be. As you said though, they are merely tools and tools are only as good as the one that wields the tool.
