hey john love your vids i just got a ctx3030 and just have a question.what
settings do you use for finding old coins like shillings and stuff in
modern parks cause i tried using the ctx but my numbers and depths jumped
everywhere and i kept picking up 2 cent and 1 cent peices which i think
come under the same number as shillings .is there anyway of telling from
the 2 .id really appreciate any feedback thx .
no they have good quality, most xp machines are well used in the uk, it has a beach mode and has downloadable updates similar to the ctx, its really a personal choice, but id go for the xterra range awesome litte machines, if u are getting any signal low or high, if its staying within five points either way on your scale it should be worth a look, 11;35-41 could be1$ on edge but coins are generally more stable, using auto+3 sens 23 is the machines average.. I will only manually pull sensitivity down near a fence ..in a playground or when it will affect the machine from large metal near, or manually put it high on the beach or long grass, otherwise its auto +3 i adjust my swing speed for areas where there are more targets and then slow down and look for ones I want,
+john24gold1 ye with the jumpy tones sometimes i will get a 12.37 and it will jump back and forth to 12.37 -12.38 sometimes to 40 are these tons still worth digging in case of goldies .atm im not sure weather my sensitivity is to high i sometimes just use the goldie program and hunt for $1 and $2 coins but even on 4 sens it still sees 4 inch into the ground so maybe i should drop it even more cause im guessing goldies will mainly be on top surface ?.
+john24gold1 gotta say metal detectings a great hobby since i started i was a bit unsure about it but the more i learn the more i wanna get out there and find stuff .
+john24gold1 thx for the advice again man really good stuff .well im about to purchase a deus just as a side machine to skim for modern coins and use the ctx for beach and deep targets but im still unsure about the deus did it seem ok on coins and like was it good quality or .cause in videos i see it seems like its pretty custamizable.dont get me wrong ill never sell my ctx3030 such a great machine just sometimes i feel like i want something light to shave the top of the surface .
the ctx is a heavy machine, but not heavy compared to a gpx, im a small guy 59 kgs, it takes a bit to get used to any machine, ive used a deus but only for 20 mins , overall good machine but no way near as stable as the ctx, I cant say that the ctx is easy to learn either, I started on a xterra 705 and found it to have a bit of a learning curve, don't worry too much about low tones and jumpy tones, gold rings are usually constant similar to coin signals in the dirt, more u dig the more you will learn, its not just beep and dig with an advanced machine, but if you can recognise 1,2c then u are on your way, learn to dig steady high coin signals, and u will be quite happy with your results, then u can branch out , learning deep signal responses, when to dig all targets and when not to...
+john24gold1 oh ok thx .do you ever fnid the ctx a bit heavy after a hr or so of use and have you ever used a deus xp ?. sorry for all the questions lol .you seem pretty knoledgeble.
Normal mode means the pinpoint signal won't narrow , in sizing the tone will narrow .. So it will lessen the response made by the target , I use sizing pinpoint function . It just means that the tone will narrow and lessen giving you more sizing information by just tone alone .. Then u can glance down at your screen and check the tracing and identification info .
+john24gold1 thx heaps man for the advice this will help me heaps .ive just started metal detecting and at first i wasnt sure weather it was for me but as i began finding $1-$2 coins and just learning the machines sounds and stuff i have really enjoyed the hobby i know im prob not gonna make a million dollars but now for me the thing that keeps me coming back is never knowing what you can find and loving the ctx i dont fully understand how to decipher things with the target trace yet but working on it :).thx again.
thanks for watching! I always run silver setting, with deep on and fast on, ferrous coin, auto+3 sensitivity, and never ground balance or noise cancel unless the machine is unstable, 1c is usually 11;41 2c is usually 11;45, shillings are a little higher 11;46 , any lower number in your first ferrous side such as 1-13 is good sign.once u learn shallow target response, learn to use pinpoint to size your targets, which u can learn to hear how big the targets are, as well as using your tracing to determine size, I also have my machine setup in 4 tones conductive and have set the tones up so anything above 1-2$ is giving me the highest tone the high tone starts at around 11;36. so anytime I go over brass,silver,copper,1-2$ I know it easily... I also dig 1c,2c, ive had massive gold rings, silver rings, medallions, on edge pennies and silver coins give me the same id, I just recycle the unusable coins and put it back into my fuel or new machine costs, if theres potential for old coins and is older grounds dig them if is newer area then u can leave those signals but could be missing the targets mentionedhope this helpsreagrdsjohn
I am a bit of a redneck lol, listen to metal music, go bush a lot so u are prob right !!
