Justin Bell takes the BMW X5, the World's first SUV equipped with Night Vision Technology, for a drive through downtown Los Angeles. The catch- he's ...
What a load of horse shit. Explain to me this, when he got out of the car,
why didn't he turn yellow as everyone else? Cause their promoting this
shit, that's why.
+Justin Hayward my first guess would be because thst that close range, he's not a human form that fits a standing person at x distance or less. he was also stopped do he wasn't a threat. also the cops on bikes were again, not human form. no doubt this was a promo, like the dipshit chick and her punt poodle that walk out, stop and keep walking, but it is pretty good shit. if you've never messed with thermal imaging, it's a lot to take in. we use it in the fire service and for detecting hot spots on high voltage equipment you can't touch, so to me I'm used to it.personally, I'd rather see it as a head up display and have it project the warning image at the person or object on the windshield on location based on the drivers point of view.
+Alex B. And why were the police officers on bikes not yellow either? I don't get why they had to highlight the staged people walking, biking, skateboarding in front of the car.
+kleetus92thats the thing the technology has been available for 10 years now at least and they still refuse to use it, yes it has narrow field of view, but still possible to figure it out, some say that it uses both, but i have doubts
+Igor K I haven't seen either in person yet to be honest. I'm sure it won't be long until they catch up. Hell, you can buy a FLIR cheapy 160x140 camera for less than $500 today, I'm sure a 320x240 (which has more or less been the civilian resolution limit) can be found for $5k or less when it's integrated into the cars other display electronics.
+kleetus92they dont, they use bullshit IR cameras like sony handicam, it has no IR filter so it sees light better at night, which is why if you turn it on during the day, you end up with color image, and at night you have a grey image, and animals and people detection is okay, but its not nearly as good as pure TAU heat cameras used in BMW
selten
