They still allow out houses in many areas. Tapping into the water supply
will not be a problem if you are drilling a well to a safe depth - using
good sense and working with the earth. The earth is amazing and has a way
of cleansing itself, even where there are large concentrations of animal
waste. God created it this way. All the systems of the earth work together
- by design. By the time natural animal waste trickles down to the depths
of the aquifer, it has been through many, many filter mediums and is
rendered harmless. Here, where we are located, the aquifer is spring-fed.
Our water is spectacular even though we are an agricultural state with lots
of cattle. My old house had a shallow well dug by the original owner. It
was only 12ft. deep. Not a good well! Good sense told me not to use this
well. Where your water is taken from a surface source - lake, stream, etc.
- your out house should be at least 200ft away. Let good sense be your
guide as you work with the earth, not against it. Ever wonder why despite
all the billions of insects, reptiles, amphibians, fish and mammals pooping
and peeing on everything, EVERYWHERE, the earth (when left to work
naturally, without human interference) is still fresh and clean? The earth
is designed to dispose of all its natural waste in a most elegant way, for
our benefit. :)
u need crossbracing on that toilet stand. u can actually get the door to
ACT as crossbracing. just jam a decent bit of MDF or ply ( like at least
half inch ) in the slot at the front and it will actually act as
crossbracing. BTW i have an overhead tank for water. had 2 leaks. one at
the tank (crap fitting the tank place gave me), and another one in the
laundry coz I wound the teflon tape the wrong way and it bunched up. you
need maybe only 2 meters above the tap for sorta OK pressure. I've 12ft
Some advice from a off the grid composting toilet user...don't pee in the
bucket. Do your business separately and you will have no smell and can let
it fill to the top before having to dump it. I use peat moss for my
covering and it really works well since it has the bacteria in it to
decompose the poop. Without the urine no need to dry out in the bucket. No
smell after 3 wks. When you can afford it get a better charge controller,
you don't need more batteries, need a new charge controller.
Save your pennies and replace that PVC with Pex. My '99 Fleetwood had PVC
also. Not one of the industries finer moments... the PVC dries out and
splits, usually more lengthwise than across. I'm currently without plumbing
and saving to replace it all. :{ Keep on truckin', your doing great. PS My
RV supplier says "if you're not spending money, you don't own and RV!" They
are delicate little plastic houses and require frequent maintenance. Did I
mention my furnace 12v fan motor went out, too?
We love our composting toilet. We only use wood chips from Tractor Supply
at this time. 4 bucks for a 40 lb bag that seems to keep multiplying the
more we take out of it. We have a compost box to dump this into. We keep it
separate from our other compost since we only use this compost to go around
trees and bushes. We let it stay in the box for 1 year before we use it to
insure no human funk is left alive. And YES there is NO Smell as long as
you keep it emptied out around 3/4 full.
Thermoelectric coolers are power hogs (4+amps Continuous). With warmer
temps around the corner and if you have to run it I'd like to suggest doing
that only during 'charge' hours. It should hold temp overnight. Keep an eye
out for a compact 120/12v fridge not a 3-way as they use an element
(10+amps) vs a compact dc fridge at about 2.5 amps only when they cycle. If
you get a 120v fridge keep in mind most compressors don't like modified
sine. Good luck.
Yes, the cooler is a huge power hog. Mine is 75 watts = 5 amps. I run it
only when the sun shines for now. When its warmer I need to urgently
insulate it to keep it cooler at night or I will loose my food. It doesnt
hold cold well when its off. I need to look into those fridge units. But
arent they in the thousands of dollar range? I read that a fridge needs a
full sine wave inverter. I am looking for a cheap one to run my fridge.
Thanks.
Thanks for the tip on the composting toilet. So far with pine shavings I
have no smell, although I must admit I am putting it to the full test. I
use it in the morning and evening for everything. That means, yes its
getting very wet in there. If it smells in warmer weather then I need to go
outside or do something else. I think I need both batteries and a charge
controller. To run a fridge, I need about 1,000 watts per 24 hour period.
On your voltages, I think you may be making an error. Are you measuring the
voltage at the battery or at the controller? There is a voltage drop that
increases as current increases. You'll always measure more at the
controller than at the battery. The only voltage your really interested in
is the voltage at the battery. Move the input for the volt meter to the
battery posts and see if it does not begin to read out more accurately.
look into getting a deal on a honda helix big scooter. the one i found on
craigslist for $1,200 i got down to $600 an drove it home.. it's great on
gas(im pushing to hit the 100 miles per gallon mark), super cheap
insurance(well under $100/year via progressive) easy/low maintenance
because its a 4stroke single cylinder/carb. they made them from the
80s-2000s with minimal internal changes so there is so many out there.
that charge controller shouldn't be allowing it to get about about 14.8
volts, UNLESS it goes into automatic equalisation mode. my solar fridge has
that mode as an option ( i switch it off ). i can press buttons to get
equalisation to start. and my main house solar rig has a mode knob you
would change to equalisation mode to get it to equalise. the equalisation
voltage is around 15.5V or something.
I have been thinking about using the HF panels as well, but they are
different voltages. Not sure what would happen. Of course, with diodes, it
may not matter. Thanks for the compliment. People could donate. There is a
link on the right side of my channel. I have so many projects on the side
burner due to lack of funds. Or pre-purchase the book and DVD on
TheOffGridProject homepage.
they would be best for the final steps or for a dry composting process
where you dont mix it up but only pile. they only pop up occassionaly to
spore and during that time you wouldnt mix but once they start to die then
you go back to mixing again. its a different process. i cant use it because
im allergic to them. if they got into my food chain id be a sad puppy.

+MollyDolly : I was worried Felix was going to get his nose caught in the fan when Troy put the fuse back in. Maybe he did because Felix wasn't there after the fan started up. :-D
How about removing the flapper, re-install it behind your stove for fresh
air intake in winter. BUILD A single flapper vent out of plywood. cut a
4inch circle out of a 5X5' square, insert 2 rods (nails) in the sides of
the circle,1/4' above the center of the disc (horizontal) going through the
5 inch square into the disc. It should swing freely. install this disc in a
box with an inside dimension of 5 inch. Mount the box to the house. it will
be counter-weighed and will move with a feather light breath of wind. add
or remove weight from the disc using small screws or tacks driven into the
top or bottom half of the flap.
+grodad i think that is a bit to elaborate for this application...lol How about the 90 degree elbow that pieter zeeuwen suggested....keep it simple is my philosophy
+pieter zeeuwen I was just joking with him. He knows I joke around with him and Molly on here all the time. I wasnt expecting to find a video on here until sometime tomorrow.

Hello my friend Chris!!! I bind the spirit of confusion over you and loose
the truth of God's peace and love over you in the Holy name of Jesus Christ
our Lord and Savior!! Blessings come from suffering, and obviously there is
some serious suffering going on over there according to your story and
rage. Please consider reading or looking up the author Immaculee Ilibagiza.
She wrote a book called The Rosary, the prayer that saved my life.
You my friend have NO Idea what is to be truly tempted by the horror of the
devil. Not even close compared to what this girl went through.
Immaculee was hidden in the bathroom of a Christian Pastor (non-catholic)
while people were being raped, murdered and tortured literally 10 feet away
from her hiding place. Grow up and stop blaming the Catholic Church for
your life.
And yes my friend Chris, you will be included in my rosary this evening!!!
A living prayer directly from my heart to the hearts of Mary and Jesus.
Take those prayers to the Heavenly bank! God bless you and your restless
heart! If only you opened your heart and soul and truly knew what those 3
Hail Mary's could of done for you. Amen @men I say to you!
You made a video saying it's bad to be funny or make jokes, but here you're
making jokes at the expense of Catholic people. You seem to enjoy bathroom
humor as much as Martin Luther did. You cast a lot of stones and tell
people they're going to hell, but you don't tell them what church they
should be attending. Please tell me what kind of church you attend, and
explain how it isn't a Satanic cult.

We purchased a brand new kohler toilet and it fills up and then still
quietly runs on the left side (where your white cap thingy is) mine is a
yellow cap. On mine, the running sounds like it is coming out of your white
cap area. We were told by Home depot to adjust the water level, but that
didn't work. Don't know what is wrong with it. You would think a $200
toilet would work......
What do you mean "we have a leak" you flushed the toilet of coarse the die
is going to come through ? How is that a leak I thought a leaking toilet
was water slowly leaking through from the cistern to the pan?? Not flushing
the toilet seeing the die come through and saying that's a leak doesn't
make sense "plumber" ?!
if still leaks--try the part on the other side, try pull up on the lever
and turn counter clockwise and the little top piece comes right off--it
gets plugged and cannot stop filling. Just clean it out. There are other
vids here to show that! aloha
My first plumbing experience was horrendous, i didn't have a plunger or
unclogger so i had to put my hand inside the bowl and unclog the pipe
myself. I was petrified ever since
