Las Mañanitas (letra de cancion & with English translation)
Las Mañanitas sung by Chayita Valdez, is a Mexican folk song for birthday celebration with Spanish lyrics and English translation, great for students who want to ...
We learned to sing this song in the third grade in Calif. in 1961.
The words we were taught from a State of California music text book are
quite different.
The was no mention of religious icons and Saints.
All I can definitely remember of the lyrics are from the first verse, and
it went as this.
"Darling wake the shadows fly, the sleepy Moon has said goodbye..."
The version we learned, although in English, is much more poetic
The lyrics are a true translation. The lyrics you may have heard or learned may have deleted all religious references but they are not the original lyrics

Que linda! I LOVE it! Thanks, too, for the info on the song. Always enjoy
reading about how a song was composed..or the origin of same. By any chance
were you a music arranger in a previous life...because you certainly have
the deft touch creating all your beautiful arrangements that I've heard
thus far. Thank you for another great video!

It makes me feel like a kid again to hear this rendition of Celito Lindo.
My dad used to play this on his accordion. As children, we used to fall
asleep listening to our dad playing this song. It was better than a bedtime
story. Fran
