Hi Four Owls, I use the effects all the time so I don't know how long it
lasts. Batteries last about 4-5 hours. You can play this guitar as a
standard strat without batteries. All the tones, tunings & acoustic are
more distinct thru' clean amp. For rock grunt, put on humbucker, tweek the
gain, distortion etc and you have a Les Paul on steroids. Video with Steve
is very accurate - no trickery or smoke & mirrors, this is the best guitar
I own & it will get your love for guitar playing back cheers
I bought one, the black, maple neck on the basis of these videos and I can
say I'ts the best move I ever made. $1200 with case in Australia, that's
cheap for a high quality strat. The result, I play it all the time, strat,
tele, humbucker, 12 string, baritone, even the acoustic and sitar get a
good run. It's fun to play and my guitar skills are improving by the week.
Instead of looking at my guitar in the corner and feeling guilty, I've got
this bugger in my hands all the time. cheers from Oz.
Not into an instrument that does half the work for you. Part of using
effects and other settings is a decision that the player/artist makes based
on style, preference, skill and experience/knowledge of which is then
applied to the other hardware in their setup. additionally, a guitar that
processes and equalizes will never be as quality as hardware + a straight
guitar. This looks like a toy for people whom are looking for the fast lane
to different sounds.
There's validity to your point, but it seems short-sighted to just call it
a toy or shortcut. For musicians that gig regularly, this can be a
practical alternative to carrying a ton of gear everywhere. Also, it
doesn't prevent you from still tweaking your sounds on the amp and with
pedals. Doing half the work for you? You still have to play well. This and
Pete Thorn's demo show the good practical applications of this guitar.
Excellent Demo, one of the most comprehensive ones that I have viewed.... I
have researched many guitars and these DEMO's are extremely valuable in
searching out equipment... Also viewed the one from Pete Thorn on the
Roland/Fender VG Stratocaster .... This is a very nice guitar with lots of
capabilities for the musical enthusiast like me.... So with that being said
I ordered myself one today... Many thanks for the INFO...
Don't get bugged by this guitar. Play "Hotel California" 12 string -
everyone says it sounds like 12 string, play Baritone - "Come Together" I
think I'm a Beatle or sit cross legged, chant and work out some sitar
ragas, this thing will blow your mind. I play tons more than I ever did and
that's really what we want - to enjoy the guitar and see improvement in
skills and creativity. cheers.
Very good player! A real master. This is a proof that real talent can make
talk even the stones... I think this is a great instrument for one BIG
important reason: it is environment friendly. I love guitars but poor
earth, such a waste of wood. You have many guitars in one single
instrument. Good enough for any real musician (not guitar collector).
I really wonder how it feels and sounds acoustically, especially when doing
the alternate tunings. But something bugs me about it, as well as the
"activating pickups" that aren't there... Like you can put a V12 into an
Opel, but it won't become a Lambo, that kinda thought.
I have nothing but the highest respect for Steve Stevens as a player... but
when you run a guitar through that much processing and effects, how can you
fairly assess what the pick-us sound like? Any guitar Steve Stevens picks
up will sound like a million bucks.
Steve is so wonderfully versatile, so stylistically diverse. Situation
Dangerous (Bozzio Levin and Stephens) has some amazing performances on
guitar, with many moods and styles. He should always be mentioned when the
subject of great guitarists comes up.
Awesome! But in the end, Steve Stevens is a master virtuoso, he could play
almost anything and I'd be stunned anyway. Does this all work with any amp?
Who has this guitar at home and e.g. an AC30, can you tell about your own
kitchen experience?
A guitar that is an Ibanez , Esp , Gibson Les paul , acoustic guitar ,
spanish guitar , 12 string Rickenbacker , Baritone , Tele and Strat at the
same time ! WTF ?! this is the best guitar for studio uses . I think i want
that badboy . Damn
Lovely guy, great musician. A few questions... Is that a standard USA strat
to begin with? Normal strat pups fully useable as a normal strat? All
sounds coming from the roland pickup? No effects pedals etc? Strongly
considering this strat.
I really like Steve Stevens, one of my favorite guitar hero...I think
everyone is right when they said, he is one of those UNDERRATED guitarist
of our generation...Long live, Steve...just always remember you have
millions of fans !
Or just have some fun without having to carry around 10 guitars and pedals.
Definitely not meant to recordings not live performances, but must be
awesome for jigs and home work. This guitar looks really fun to play with.
WOW, dude plays the shit out of that guitar. What an Amazing talent. I
especially liked his nylon work. He seems a pretty down to earth/laid back
kind of guy. Extremely nice work. Good posting, thanks for putting it up.
Real Talent. A true lifelong musician. He can not only play the instrument
flawlessly but he has a real talent at making demo videos that are easy to
understand and fun to watch. He is a true master of his craft.
interesting, but the feeling of a realy nylon string guitar is completely
different of a fucking fender stratocaster ; you must spend a few times on
this before you mastering the subtelties...
Just got that guitar along with the Roland GR55,still haven't figured out
how to make it work yet.Way over my head,so fucking stupid. He sure did a
great job though.
Its the Stones....Start me Up or whatever its called. Its the chorus
riff.....plus he said Keith Richards. Whatever it is, this guy has got some
mad skills
