One of the more obvious examples of how language is used to control public opinion was at the start of the first Gulf War, and it's remained since. Out of nowhere, seemingly, came the phrase "Support Our Troops", as if we hadn't ACTUALLY been supporting them in earlier conflicts, which of course is nonsense. It was a way to make people acknowledge what the US govt was doing was okay, even if you said, "I do support the troops, but I'm against the war." It was a subtle form of conditioning, because nobody would ever say "I'm AGAINST the troops". It was an end-run way of getting people to support the mission without really supporting it.

+jaybone23 Interesting analysis. Thanks. I never thought about how they used this tactic. Opened my eyes.

04:53 Booya! *We need a "doublespeak/inspeak" encyclopedia / wiki* This would inform, educate and reduce manipulation from such obfuscated communication.

Basically when someone says that your hard work is actually terrible they are admitting to being envious.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-YkZCPRwpdqI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAmc/0TmUvvsA1hY/photo.jpg?sz=64
Hmm I don't really get the second one...But there is a lot of such "talk" that flies way over my head :-p.Until there is a written reference to "in speak" it will always be changing, in order to heard constituents, into its "prime directive" of manipulation and individualistic and moral corruption.

+Oliver revilO Example: "Your work is terrible." = "I'm pathologically envious of you."

+Oliver revilO Excellent discovery. I love the wisdom of William Lutz. Thank you so much.

Example: "I hate you" = "I'm jealous of you"

Double speak is also used extensively by white supremacists/racist. You could fill a series of books of words and terms that white racists use to deceive/indoctrinate people of color.

+Gareth The same can be said of leftist liberals / race baiters.

The latest employer doublespeak when firing or laying off employees is " you've been separated from the corporation."
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-6bN8J-BZqag/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/nVAB1-h6eFs/photo.jpg?sz=64
+aremarkumade For a few months my direct supervisor kept saying "You're good to go" and "You're ready to leave the nest".

Double speak is actually called bullshitting. Subterfuge, lying, being ingenuous, and downright dishonest. Once you get a bit older you begin to see the pattern and aren't so easily taken in by bullshit. It's what people do when they want something like power or money or sex badly enough to lie to get it. It's weak and despicable and criminal.

+sigthor2015 yes and the serpent was "subtle" a liar and a murderer.

Wow. Watch "Billy Badass Loudmouth" make a complete idiot out of himself. Yelling at an old man like that? How shameful. The thought of that out of control CAVEMAN man being responsible for other people's well-being is scary and bothersome. I don't see how he is able to maintain his composure during an emergency when he can't even control himself at a town meeting. Lunging and yelling at an old man like that. What a disgrace and a complete embarrassment to society.

This video is disgusting. People cannot get others to agree with them so they begin making personal attacks? A poor representative for the Coalton Fire Department. I would not want this man anywhere near my house or family in the time of an emergency. There is no justification for verbally attacking and attempting to instigate a fight with a 70+ year old man. I will do everything I'm able to see he removed from the fire department.

people have to come with an agreement on both sides. people in coalton should keep the coalton fire department because that is where they live wellston is way too far and will not get to coalton on time if something were to happen. i want to keep the coalton fir department for coalton pertection forever.

Wow. Bottom line is protection. Come to an agreement, people.
