I know, Case 5 of DD was pretty dark. It was also pretty cool how it took place in the court that was blown up.

It is a kinda dark thing but Dual Destinies (the 5th game) goes way much darker. In fact, all Phoenix Wright games have T rating except for the 5th one who is classified M because of it.

+Rohan Skatedude I guess that they were trying to protect her innocence about her mother, but again, it's not like she didn't know that her mother was a complice of murder and tried to frame Maya. That case was full of plotholes.

+Elsa García That's because spoilers whilst technically not being a baddy, he did commit a murder :/ I don't get why in that last case if they knew Pearl was going to channel Dahila, why didn't they just tell her not to and explain to her what would happen if she did - that she would be killing Maya. She's not retarded, she would understand.Then again, I guess they have to make a story somehow...

After looking this up, it seems that the original version is supposed to take place in some unnamed place in Japan, but the localized version takes place in Los Angeles. Since the difference is only in the dialogue, a lot of the visuals, and the cultural and legal aspects are more reminiscent of Japan than California even if the characters themselves claim they're in LA. Also, this could be a red herring, but Trucy's insistence on leaving Jinxie's forehead talismans alone, and that her father told her to keep them on to prevent bad spirits from entering her...it may be that she actually has something on her forehead which will conveniently be relevant to a case.
