I actually do have bit of an objection towards both Ace Attorney 5 and
Professor Layton. Why 3D models? I know, I get it, 3D screen, but since
when was the depth of that character important to me? It was rather the
depth of their emotes and animation through the hand drawn artwork. I don't
know if you realize, but 3D animates a great deal differently and that is
very robotically. I know I'll need to wait and see, but please stop
shunning 2D art just because of new tech.
nope I have not seen it. I'm just more optimistic than you and judging from
how the 3D models look in the screenshots. I have no doubt that they will
be a faithful representation of how the older games look and animate. So in
the way of your "stop shunning 3D art because of new tech." Don't assume
you know better than the people who've been making it for years. They've
been doing the same thing since the series started on the gameboy advance.
Let them live a little. lol
And futhermore, 3D that imitates 2D is 3D that is unnecessary. It's the
difference between a real actor and a CG replacement, its unnatural and it
feels wrong. There are qualities and attributes 2D animation and
presentation carry with it that 3D can not reproduce as their methods of
design are inherently different. Animation draws the next frame at the
artists discretion and choices of appearance, 3D models simply bend to the
next pose.
It did not need to be fully animated, it's loops for each emotion in
conjunction with the sound effects were a huge part of the games identity.
It was a huge part of the games humor. The way it just jumped in and out of
these animations and the further you'd go along the more of them would show
up detailing the change in their mood but also personalities. I really
don't see full animation of a 3D model replacing that kind of charm.
Well, for one, unless they change the gameplay, I feel that this same song
& dance will just be repetitious and un-original. I also feel that the
series should have finished at T&T. I dislike the 3D models, and would
prefer HQ 2D animations. I dislike the fact that another new assistant is
coming into the mix. You know, just small things like that that'll edge me
away from buying it. I will buy it though.
I think its serviceable, probably necessary for the more cinematic
courtroom sweeps and camera angles, but like I say, the animation methods
used with 3D models is strange and unpleasant to my eyes. Especially with
hand gestures, hand models and expressions. It doesn't look "bad", I just
feel the 2D has a charm and feel that 3D can't replicate. So, it's a little
robotic.
From what I recall the 2D characters weren't really animated all that well.
They were more still frames than character animations. I'm all for 2D art,
in fact I love 2D animation much more than CGI movies, but it needed to be
fully animated. With the 3D model we at least get that. Also the 3D models
look pretty much exactly like the 2D drawings from what I could see.
I'm a jaded man. Timeless 2D games always end up getting the "re-boot" into
3D and every single time it is hideous. 2D has a place and it was doing
it's job perfectly, I don't see why they always need to jump off the ship
in favor of something far uglier that adds nothing.
I love this show, really makes me love Nintendo even more. I am however
really sad that they've decided to stop making Nintendo Power, If I could
do anything to keep it going I would, I'd even buy a couple years worth of
subscriptions, I hope they change their mind.
I won't spoil anything, but if you played that game, you'd understand.
Capcom didn't make a "mistake" with disbarring Phoenix. It was fully
intentional and plays a big role in the story. Him returning for GS5 is a
logical continuation of GS4.
I haven't played Apollo Justice, but I heard Phoenix's character got really
screwed up in that game (getting disbarred? What!?), but I'm glad Capcom's
undoing their mistake.
he is tricked into handing in fake evidence and gets disbarred but he gets
his licence back and has the choice to become a lawyer again by the end of
appollo justice
