This video shows how to pull a bush / shrub, using a spare tire or tire rim. This method has worked very well for 4 generations on my family farm. Not only is this ...
Brilliant and simple. I was looking for shrub pulling solutions and this is
the best. Video was nice and to the point, too. Thanks for taking the time
to post. I've subscribed to your channel.
+squire haggard This technique has been around for decades. My great grandfather used a tractor rim to pull posts in this manner. I used a spare tire in this video because I figured everyone would have access to one. However, if you need to do more of this kind of work, find a large rim, it works even better. Thank you for subscribing! I hope you enjoy my other videos.
It is very dangerous to use a nylon rope connected to a chain in this
manner. If any part of the chain hookup should fail, the stretch of the
nylon rope will act as a slingshot, propelling the rest directly at the
vehicle at a rapid rate. A local farmer once put a steel clevis right
through the tailgate of his 4X4 when the chain around the combine axle
snapped. If it had been 4 Inches higher, it would have decapitated him.
+Russell Starr Russell, I totally agree with you! NEVER use a nylon rope or any rope that can stretch and spring back! I once saw a family member pull a tree from their front yard and saw the tree fly across the street (barely missed the windshield on the truck). That was a very educational moment! The rope that I used in this video is a special tow rope that Linesmen use to handle those huge timber utility poles. These tow ropes do not stretch and are very safe to use. Even though you mis-identified what I was using, I really do appreciate your comment. I hope your comment helps someone stay safe. That would have been a good thing to mention in my video. THANKS AGAIN for stating this! You may have saved someone from injury, or worse!
I guarantee I will be using this in the near future have my eye on some overgrown shrubs neglecting to pull them now I have a reason to try to look like I know what i'm doing infront of the fam lol
+Ontario Bushcraft My great grandpa used tractor tire rims to pull fence posts straight up out of the ground. This practice has been past down generations, and I'm glad to be able to share this wonderful trick.
