I finally found a market that has both fresh and canned. The fresh didn't
look too good so I bought the canned one. It was sooooooo amazing I loved
it! My only complaint is there wasn't enough lol I ate it all in one
sitting. I shared some with my family and I think we've found a new fruit
to have as dessert at our family table! Thanks for introducing us to such a
great fruit. I will continue to check out the fresh one and hopefully find
a good fresh one to try soon.
I just love your videos I've learned so much. This fruit is totally new to
me I didn't know anything about it. I will take a trip to an Asian market
this week and see if I can find it. I go and visit my cousins and aunt and
uncle for dinner once a week. This might be a fun fruit to bring for
dessert.
+Stefanie Leale That is an awesome idea please do let me know how you liked it, I love trying new exotic fruits from around the world... Really appreciate you taking the time to comment....
How to eat a JACK FRUIT

In Brazil, we call them: Jaca. And the trees that they grow on are really
dangerous, because they fall on top of peoples heads and... well...
Fatality!
A Jackfruit is a large sweet tasting fruit that grows in Jamaica and other Tropical climates. It is difficult to eat, but Calvin demonstrates how to get started. Here he ...
@kidboygator My experience said otherwise. I used to own a land with
several jackfruit trees in it. What I noticed is, no matter how ripe the
fruits are, they still produce whitish sap. All I could do to alleviate the
sticky situation when cutting is, dip the knife in cooking oil before
cutting. As a side note, these fruits can grow as big as size of average
pillow and single tree can bear as many as 15~20. I ended up giving away
most of them.
I've been told that if you pick jackfruit too early you will have a large
amount of the sticky white sap oozing from the core as shown in this video,
but most just have to take what the store provides. I go for one that is
gold in color, smells sweet from the outside, and the shell should be soft
but not soft enough to push your finger through it.
If you look very closely at the top of the right in videos suggested, there
is a continuation of this very video marked with the same name ... with
Part 2 added. That lets you know there is more to this. And when you do
click on it, you will definitely see someone (Calvin is his name) showing
exactly "How to eat Jackfruit."
Woah! thats a sharp flippin machete... there is a technique, though I do
not know it, of peeling it and pulling it apart without cutting it. I was
told that it is the best method by a bangladeshi guy (who wondered why we
wanted "poor people" food)... supposedly the latex is gross, and must be
avoided at all costs.
yes i have eaten those, and the ones grown in america test like crap, the
ones that test good are the ones from africa assia and south america,
europe and american can't grow good fruits!!, i ate like 100 from africa, i
have friends and family in africa and daymn i love this things,
@LovelyLilDevilWings This an't no nasty Durian/cheese/vomit fruit whatever.
Jackfruit is lovely. If I remember correctly it had to be cured with salt
before being eaten. I mean I've only eaten it once, in 1982 in Jamaica, and
it was so nice.
The Jackfruit flavor is what Juicy Fruit Gum was modeled after. Absolutely
divine. Make sure you get a big ripe one with rounded outer rind. Put oil
on your hands and the knife when cutting to keep the pulp from sticking to
you.
this is seriously not how i'd eat jackfruit... I'd put it in my mouth after
squeezing out the seed.. and then go for another... and another.. .and
another... .... . . . you get the picture.
You both seem like sweet people. Thank you for sharing a brief bit of your
life with us! And now I seriously want to eat some fresh jackfruit - after
I learn how to use a machete!

Today's Exciting Fruit Buys AND Jackfruit- My First Time! Learning How to Cut & Eat Jackfruit.
My first time cutting and eating jackfruit, and seeing what the inside of a jackfruit looks like. Also, what we got from the market and farm today! CHECK OUT MY ...
You shouldn't cut open the jackfruit in half...just the outer later of the
skin is enough...then remove the skin away it will be easier to pick the
flash later on...and also eating the flesh as a whole is much tastier than
eating in a smaller pieces that's how we do it here
.
you bought a very bad jack fruit lady.
that was picked young, not ready to eat.
the best jack fruit is very juicy and sweet.
the smell will also be sweet.
inside should all be golden yellow.
the spikes on the skin if blunt or like stretched away from each other,
that is a jack fruit that contains lots of sweet pods.
+ronycruz2010 thank you! I think one of the problems is not encountering it enough to get practice at identifying good ones! Over here, if I see one, it is rare and I get excited and buy it! haha. Maybe someday I shall travel to where they are plentiful and improve my jackfruit-picking-out skills. :)
I have experimented with the seeds. The taste is akin to a bland chestnut
-- same texture but no sweetness, Still edible anyway. I have baked them
and boiled them. In both instances there is a gummy after effect in the
mouth. My teeth get gummy. Has anyone tried this with the same result?
Does anyone know how to get rid of the gumminess? Also, what is the
easiest way to get rid of the hulls covering the seeds? Very tedious to
remove. Thank you.
+Peggy Stoute Morin haha, very interesting, thank you for sharing! I don't know the answers, but it will be interesting to read if anyone else does. :)
