An actor name and use case name together express the essence of a user story - you just need to add a value or benefit statement to make a complete user story. When you write detailed steps for a use case, you are providing more details about how the user will go about doing the task described by the use case name.

Absolutely correct. The point is that more work on requirements has to be done after you write a user story. It is the very best if that requirements work is done as a conversation, not a big document. Personally, I prefer to capture the detailed requirements as Tests and use them to drive Test Driven Development.

I don't think a user story need to be detailed in form of a use case, actually user story strength conversation, but use case focus on a detailed document. Furthermore, a user story card always be takes as a reminder for discusson in requirement details.

I don't see it as a matter of user story vs use cases. it's more like a user story can be considered as an earlier step for some (not all) use cases.
