I don't like the new mustang as much as the old ones, but I understand that
it has to change!
I hope that i own a 2013 Boss 302 at some point of my life..... someday...
+Fili Berto My biggest gripe with the new body is it lost its hiked up shoulders over the rear wheels. I like the way the beltline turned upward as it approached the back of the doors and into the quarter windows ala the 65-73 models and returned again in 2012 refresh. It was a retro touch that added a look of power or dare I say muscle. Even Chevy kept that characteristic from their previous gen Camaro in the recent redesign. And of course Dodge has the same characteristic in the Challenger.
+Jimmy870 Deep impact blue... I have since added White GT500 race stripes, roush Rear spoiler (black) , Roush shift knob (white) Roush winglets Roush side window scoops and the Roush Hood scoop. also to protect the front and hood i did a xpel clear bra wrap on the front end. Next is Borla ATAK cat-back and Roush supercharger
+Daniel Kerkotchian Jesus, you made me go through all that, when it was "world class" you didn't understand? Thanks for being clear. Hope my explanation helped some other poor fucker... By world class, it is probably a reference to what I alluded to in my original post, which was that it is America's car industry finally catching up with the rest of the world... in that case, he could have just said "world class suspension - at long last" and that may have been more clear.
"world class integral link suspension" my point is what is world class about it.... its just independent rear suspension.. nothing world class about it
You'd be best googling it, as it requires diagrams to get a grasp on it.... But basically (and oversimplifying) The old chunky single axle (still popular in big trucks) connect both rear wheels (so that bumps on one wheel contribute to unsettling the other wheel as well). With independent suspension, the wheels are totally independently sprung and hinged. With integrated link, it is similar to independent, but there is actually a bar connecting the two sides, that stabilizes lateral force better, while still keeping vertical shock absorption independent. This translates into better stability and greater grip, which is always a good thing in a car with more than 500hp.
+Daniel Kerkotchian I means it won't handle like a lumber wagon anymore.... It also means that the US auto industry is finally catching up with Europe's.
Porsche 918 at the Nürburgring! - The Downshift Episode 37
On this episode of The Downshift, we head to the Nürburgring where Porsche's engineers are testing the upcoming 918 - an 800-plus horsepower, mid-engined, ...
& the F70 will not be far off from the P1 as history serves right,
Ferrari's halo doesn't disappoint, so look for both to be almost equal in
performance, & again it will come down for preference! look at the Enzo,
0-60 in 3.14s, 1/4 mile in 11s flat, a third party (evo mag) lap the ring
in 7:25s with a broken electronic damper, so imagine if it did was fixed &
was driven by a Ferrari test driver/engineer! & that was a 2001 model
vehicle, compare that to the cars now in 2012 & its still up there!
& the Pecs announced by both internal sources has claimed about the same
"PROJECTED" specs, coming from both of these Companys, they will achieve
them so, 0-60 2.5s, weight, 2,400 lbs, power, 800 bhp (3.8L TT-Mclaren,
7.3L V12-Ferrari),7 speed dualclutch gearbox, GT3 racer spec downforce
(1200-1400lbs), KERS with 120 bhp, TOTAL OUTPUT 900+ bhp, now sit their &
read all othose targeted specs, & tell me that either car will not break 7
mins in the ring, i studied a bit on Physics, they just might!
Well, prepare to be disappointed because it takes a lot more than just
horsepower and top speed to make a fast laptime. You have to remember that
these supercars are made to be luxurious comfortable cars that anyone can
drive, so no matter how much power they have, they will never be able to
match a car that has its suspension setup, aero, tires and everything else
optimized for track racing. I think its highly unlikely that either the F70
or the P1 or the 918 will manage sub 7 minute lap time.
K let me explain to you something... im a mechanic so don't think i don't
even know what regenerative braking is fool.. it wont keep the batteries
charged from R.B. alone especially if your doing anything other than
economy driving. The 70 wutever mpg advertised is when you fully charge the
batt. and drive in hybrid mode until the car is dead... while driving on
the engine alone this car gets 10 something mpg.... the R.B. system slows
batt drain... it doesnt just recharge the battery continously
hei childs, calm down. A car is much more then a lap time, more then a
design model, more then its consumption, more than only quality, more than
only costs, more than horsepowers, more then maximum speed, more then
luxery. A car was always and will ever be thes best mixtuere out of
this...and the word "best" and so the targets are defined by the CEOs and
their teams. The 918 is very fast for its luxery (hope this word is right,
I think you understand), fast for its possibility of low fuelconsum
watch the vid... both systems work at the same time fool, thats y the car
is so fast.... if it were only using its engine and not its motors then
simple math tells you it would b damn slow with that power : weight
ratio..... honestly its a pretty easy concept to grasp... its like building
a car with 2 engines say, then giving its fuel consumption as what only one
of the engines used... simply leaving out the fact there was another engine
helping with that number but not counting its fuel consptn
& did you notice as well, the viper ACR & the Vette Z06 Z07 package, & ZR1
were driven by their own test driver & engineer? the Enzo was driven with a
laptime of around 7:25 driven by Marc Basseng for evo mag, if you dont know
who he is dont even reply back to me,pretty sure if a Ferrari test driver
were to try, it be with in the 918's time & that was a 2001 product, even
the ACR does not hold the record as well, 2 Radical SR8 ran 6:48 back in 05
the other ran a 6:55 & a Gumpert ran 7:11 in 09!
LMAO, my signature in all of my forums is"i_///M_GEARHEAD", & i am a
currently studying to be a Mechanical engineer for the automotive industry,
so no i dont need to read up more, please dont take me for a fool, you
think these $1 million or more Automobiles will be limjited by their tires?
to think the 2 greatest F1 teams ever will have trouble to create a
compound for their liking of performance? these are the only 2 companies
left ( not counting lotus, might go brankurtpt ) that have their
I never said it wasn't GM, i said it was "underpinned by Australian
engineering." You said that producing a car as great as a Mustang/Camaro
for under $70k is advanced. I think that is called economies of scale. My
definition of advanced is developing upon proven technologies and combining
it with newer technology, thereby creating a new product, that is vastly
superior to the generation before. I believe that the German manufacturers
do this better than what the American manufacturers do.
there is already the Gumpert, & 2 Radicals, but they are only available in
Europe, & as for tires, really? you think tires will be hard to compound
for these 2 cars, then you,ll be surprise for their performance, they will
run something close to what Chevy used for their record lap times with
their z06, zr1, barely street legal tires, but trust me tires are not the
issue, my only concern for now is will Ferrari themselves conduct Ring lap
times, cause they didn't even bother with the Enzo
like i said again, as history serves right, Porsche willl not ba able to
compete with its Ferrari counterpart, its been like so in decades with
their halo cars going against each other, Ferrari has always dominated back
to the F40, & no i wont be disappointed, just by proof again, are the
certain specifics given & the Fact the Enzo was untouchable for almost a
decade! trust me i wont be, but will you? is the questions, just wait a few
more months, the F70 will debut wit Production specs!
My definition of 'advanced' is the consistent improvement of proven
technology, with periodic steps forward with new innovation. With a few
exceptions, I see most performance manufacturers doing this, regardless of
region. But this is dependent of your so-called 'economies of scale'.
Expensive cars will have more tech content. That doesn't mean affordable
cars don't advance at the same pace. Case in point, the 918 Spyder is a
design marvel but also lists for over $800K. See what I mean?
You know that Holden is just GM's Australian subsidiary, right? GM is GM,
who really cares where the street address is. The Camaro's magnetic shock
system was developed right here in the USA, by the way ... What is your
definition of 'advanced'? I love German cars, particularly Porsche. But for
the price range that the Camaro & Mustang compete in, what German automaker
could do better? If you add more 'advanced' tech, up goes the sticker
price. It doesn't mean these cars are simple.
lol, the Zonda is a tripped down track car at 2,400 lbs, with about 750ps,
or 740 bhp, the F70 & P1 will both be around the same weight, 2,400 yet
have over 900 bhp, same weight, more power, & the P1 has already been said
to have just as much downforce as the GT3 MP4-12C race car if not more, i
believe its around 124 mph makes around 1300 lbs of downforce, the P1 was
designed to be a true racer for the streets yet still be livable & drivable
eveyday, & compared to the Zonda R
yea it would but would it still make 70 mogs? & did you notice that that
makes more mpgs than Gm's own green car? in a hyper car that amkes 800 bhp?
didnt think about that did you? & how much you want to bet the Porsche will
be much easier for an amateurdriver to reach it record lap as to where the
vette,........ (crash), its cool & all the vette & the ACR Viper has fast
lap times but you need profesional training to reach such a performance, &
not eveybody is a pro driver!
Golf has a tiny efficiency advantage (42 mpg vs. 40 mpg). Is that what you
call advanced? The Golf's build quality is not good. I've had two friends
who bought new Golfs, both traded to other makes because of mounting repair
bills, said they'd never buy another VW. One had owned Audis also, had the
same complaints and wouldn't buy another. If that's your only comparison, I
would say this is settled. Anyone who thinks cars from one country are
superior is believing a myth.
& no the Viper & C6 vette took almost 9 years to get anywhere near the
ENZO! & the viper had to have overhauled to another gen first, did you
forget the Enzo came out in 2001 & was sold as a 02 model? what was the
viper & the Vettes' lap times during 2001? the Enzo also was enver udated,
it was a as is product, from 2001 & on! same thing fro the F70 & P1, 900
bhp monsters, with around 2,400 lb curb weights, lol, trust me GM & SRT
will take another 8 years to catch up!
The part about how it gets 70 mpg... gallons aren't the only thing giving
it that range... The energy in the battery (electricity) powers the motors
which help hive the engine its 70 mpg... Batteries need to be charged, that
power to charge them comes from the hydro grid... The hydro companies send
you the bill for that... not the car, i thought this was obvious but i
guess not.... youll understand about paying for electricity when you move
out of mommies basement..
This is like explaining algebra to a brick wall ... YES, engine and motors
both work at once. But in hybrid mode, the engine generated electricity for
the motor system. You don't have to recharge batteries by plug in UNLESS
you drive WITHOUT gasoline. You don't have fill up AND plug in. It runs on
gasoline or straight battery power, hybrid mode or electric mode. You know
how an alternator charges your battery? That's how a hybrid works when you
run the engine.
lol, thats like saying the FXX & the 599XX evo & the Zonda R are just bolt
on cars, ACR-X is a race preep vehiclle, & im tired of everybody who use
price as a point of argument, im sorry if you call your self a gear head or
an enthusiast & do not know hwy the F70 & P1 & 918 are valued at thier
price is over me, that like saying a 4 bed $150K house is just as good as
the playboy mansion to live in cause they provide you equal performance in
providing a home,
There are about 32 units of these being shipped to Malaysia by the end of
the year, and by the figures it costs about 6million ringgit per
unit...which means about 2Million US dollars per car direct conversion...I
have no idea what it costs over in the States or Europe, but heck even an
Aventador costs about 650,000 USD over here....almost double the price
compared to being bought in the States...Hawt daayum, I hate my country
soooooo much....
Actually, no. The Ferrari F70 uses a KERS, but isn't a true hybrid. It's
electric motor is only good for short bursts, like Ferrari's F1 cars. It
has very little electric storage capacity, is not plug-in compatible, no
electric mode, no hybrid-series mode, and will have little effect on fuel
mileage. I could be wrong, but that's what they're reporting as of right
now. Ferrari won't challenge Porsche on a true hybrid powertrain.
production side being mainly funded by their racing department, LMAO, & you
think they wuill be lucky to break 7:10? so the 599XX wieghs about the same
speculations as the F70 with only 740 bhp, & ran 6:568s, so for a newer
model with about the same weight, with more power 900+, have more grip,
more downforce, & thats also P1's targeted specs, & they will be lucky if
they make 7:10? are you serious? lmao really?
