Wisconsin Belgian Red + Raspberry Tart (New Glarus Brewing) | Proper Hops #266

I feel lucky I live less than a couple hours away from New Glarus even
though I have to jump over the border to buy their beers. They definitely
know how to brew fruit beers. These beers are both amazing, but I'd say I
like Raspberry Tart slightly more. If you're able to get your hands on a
bottle definitely try Serendipity. Although that may be tricky because it
was only brewed last year as a replacement for Wisconsin Belgian Red. I
hope they decide to brew it again this year. Might be my fave.
It's so surprising that they are so well known and yet you can't get it
outside of the state. They both sound something of a lambic-style beer, am
I right? My latest homebrew (The White House Honey Ale) is fermenting
really nicely. I'll be racking to secondary this weekend then bottling on
the 23rd or 24th. Then I'm turning around and making a Tripel at my friends
house. It'll be my first entry into all grain.
I know, it's weird! I guess they've been around for a while...Yeah, they're
similar to a lambic-style fruit beer. That homebrew sounds awesome! You'll
have to let me know how the presidential recipe tastes. And all grain -
that's pro stuff. Over my head, that's for sure. Ha. Cheers man!
They aren't done producing it. It is just suspended for the year because
the cherry harvest was destroyed. They replaced it for now with
Serendipity, a three way combo of cherries, raspberry, and apple.
Essentially these two beers and apple ale all together.
I have had both- I give slight preference to the Belgian Red. It probably
helped, though, that I had it on tap at the brewery- Amazing. I also had a
ten year-old bottle of it once- still good, just mellower, less tart.
That sounds incredible. Yeah, I like them both, but they're definitely
different brews. One sip I would think I like Belgian Red better, then the
next sip it was Raspberry Tart. Ha. Oh well. Cheers!
That's awesome! Yeah, I heard of Serendipity! I'll have to get a WI buddy
to send down a bottle. If it's anything like these brews, it has to be
good. Cheers!
Well that's good news, but also bad news because I don't have a bottle of
Serendipity. Ha.

you mentioned, ''Sour Bitch''.
I often think Dave that if all of us beer geeks were to swap houses we would all feel at home soon after we peek in the fridge. LOL!!! Thanks a million Dave.CHEERS!!!!DJ
That intro that label lol Awesome!! some times I think your on speed ;)
great high octane review DJ are these crazy expensive in the States? touch
to pricey in Calgary nearly $20 a bottle sounds nice though..
You know, I am almost too hyper for myself sometimes. Yes, one may suspect me to be a speed freak. LOL!!!! This one cost me $6.99 here. $20 is way too expensive for this beer. That is crazy for a 4.5% beer. Heck the imported German Grätzers are only like a dollar more a bottle here. Me thinks the liquor stores are profiteering. Thanks for watching my insanity. CHEERS Brad!!!DJ
