Probably fake, since it's illegal play a recording of a call like this, unless the other person were notified that they were being recorded/played on air. Other prank calls are legit since people called the prankster.

they do the phone prank without telling them then when they finish the prank that's when the let them know, they get permission to play it and thats it!

+takerdust This was on a television show where all they do is make prank calls. They play the numbers that some will say yes while some say no. These television networks and even radio stations have attorneys that tell them what they can and can't do. They're smarter than you are in this case and have more figured out than you or I do.

+Abbe J  I'm sure there are instances where they sometimes get permission, but to set up a great prank call isn't easy, and many would refuse permission. These radio guys make very little money, and it's not like they have full time writers who do this unlike Howard Stern show, who even some admitted their prank calls were fake as well.

Filing a complaint or a lawsuit, the "victim" would have to prove that it was themself on the line.
