@MillFarmAshorne yes i have a hay basket bought for 300 dollars very cheap
a hell of a deal its worth 3-4x that nh makes a bale wagon that works on
the tractor pto my friend has one it is about 25+ years old its a sperry
new holland he has never had any trouble with it on the basket it dumps
itself you can do everything on the tractor you just pull a sting the gate
opens the bales fall out and the gate closes with gravity you seem to be in
europe somewhere i like the jcb i like there backhoes to
@brian93ist We've looked at a Bale Baron and a Bale Bandit that secure a
dozen or so bales into a block with string or wire, but they're very
expensive. The Baskets seem to require manual stacking at the barn, whereas
we now stack onto a big low loader with the telehandler in the field
(unlike in the video!). We then restack in the barn with the telehandler so
we never manually handle the bales. It seems to work for us! Do you have
any experience of baskets or wagons?
@brian93ist Because we stack quite high in the barn, we'd have to manually
stack if we dumped bales out of the trailer although I can see the benefits
in the field. We are in the Midlands in the U.K. and we're farmers and
contractors. We find the JCB Fastrac ideal for our work because of the road
speeds, but the gearbox is not great to use (the new version, on the Xtra,
is better apparently). I agree that their backhoes are good tools.
@ford4000man We find our sledge really good. We've made a few modifications
to get the eights tight so they're easy to pick up with the grab such as
wooden narrowing slides, plus we've put a hydraulic release for the gate so
I can keep the cab window closed. It saves lots of time and you can choose
where you drop the eights unlike the Browns version which drops the eight
as soon as it's made.
@endamc79 Yes, I think the Welgers are better balers as you can push on and
they'll just keep baling. I have heard people say that the bales can be a
bit inconsistent though, plus they are expensive second hand. Put it this
way, I'm very pleased with my JD and I'm in no hurry to change it, even for
a welger!
It's not easy finding decent conventional balers and I don't know of any
specific place to find a good one. Ours was found by chance at a local ag.
dealer and luckily had good knotters. Try Farmers Weekly, e-bay and Farm
Trader, then go and look carefully at any you find. Sorry I can't be more
helpful.
@aarontong1 It's really great to drive, except the gearbox which is
horrible. The very latest ones (3000 Xtra) are full powershift and really
good. The only other bad thing is that you can't see the pickup hitch from
the cab, but any decent driver can cope with that so it's not really a
problem.
@aarontong1 Yes, you either love them or hate them. It's on the baler
because sometimes you have to use what's available, plus it's very
comfortable for baling and i can run it on 1000rpm on the PTO but dropped
back to 540, to save diesel.
@endamc79 I find that the baler is really very good. It's a 1985/86 model
and performs almost like a new one! If you're looking for a reliable second
hand conventional baler (and can't afford a Welger!) then I'd buy one of
these again.
If you are in Ireland , look up Donedeal.ie , click on farming , then click
on machinery, its the place to go to look up second hand machinery . Hope
this helps. The site advertise anything you can think of, regards
@massey8130 This year we cut and baled only about 100 acres, but we only
started out contract baling in late summer. Next year we'll hopefully do
several hundred acres for clients, plus about 50 for ourselves...
@johndeer7030 She's pretty good for most of the work we do (now she's
chipped up), and the cab space is great. Can't wait to try a Fastrac Xtra
as the old gearbox is shocking!
@MillFarmAshorne Oooh get you all chipped up. Our contractors isnt thinking
about buying one sometime in the future. There brilliant and like you say
with the cab space.
@TheHally2795 We agree! They're a bit like Marmite - you either love 'em or
hate 'em, and she's a bit OTT for our little baler but still looks right
somehow...
How exciting to see and hear them looking and sounding like a BIG time act!
The production values finally caught up with the quality of the
performances -- YEH!!! Go guys!
