Who else, notices the engine is from a modern GT3 Cup Car? Smart and cool,
but it's obvious this is no original RSR engine. But still absolutely love
the video!
+extra330LT Good observation, which could be the case. They could of just put in a sequential which really helps the driver in a rally car. But listen to the whistle and whine it makes in 5th and 6th as most of all of the 997 Cup Cars have that exact same high pitched whistle. And on down shift the cars sounds to eerily similar to the computer blip in certain no clutch versions of the cup car. But could be either way, really hard to tell.
i think it's not the engine, it's just the transmission. Using a secuential gearbox, like new porsches used for racing, instead the original H type gearbox.
The driver's shifting seems weird to me. I'm no racing driver, but not
using the clutch for upshifts doesn't seem right. And he's doing it all the
time. He uses the clutch for downshifts, though. Can someone explain to me
what's the deal with this?
Sequential box, doesn't need to depress the clutch to go up gears, they're straight cut so they engage easily with a firm pull on the leaver. They don't even need to clutch to go down, but it extends the gearbox's life if you do and doesn't lose you time.
Well it's not easy to drive that Porsche in a race where there's a lot of narrow sections, chicanes & killing kerbs. I'll give him a thumbs up for his bravery.
+Skopey A complet rebuild of that engine would cost 3k Euro on time, if you need to change pistons, valves and more u can reach 10k, then your are rigth saying that he shift correctly, in addition i think he may know his car really well to do what they think is correct xD
Considering how much it would cost to rebuild an engine like that, I don't really blame him.
Break the Barrier | INSANE Porsche 964 RSR Crash
Driver Harry Kleinjan got into a sticky situation during the Hellendoorn Rally when his classic Porsche's brakes locked up on a turn. Both driver and passenger ...
I'm agreeing with iriatuM I'm a racer from ORANZ and we race off road, that
turn would have been simple, shift into G3 and G4 on the outskirt, I mean
come on people! PS: ORANZ is professional Off-Road Racing, Google us!
Auckland and Taupo New Zealand Tracks... Come along one time!
to be shot in the face followed by the other guy above this comment and for
the 3rd one he will just jump off a cliff in shame of spamming the comments
with utter utter baulks that no one gives a shit about and flags it as spam
that is all !!!!!!! #spamming ....
I've watched this ten times already. How this Porsche hits the barrier then
the pole, and then jumps the barrier and into the water baffles me
completely. And then we have the guy who must check his phone at the most
absurd times.
On the breaks too hard going in thus, locked'em up and had the wheel turned
already when he released the breaks that created understeer and kaplow wall
water.
Magny Course or Paul Ricard (not sure wich one, at least a French F1
circuit from the late '90). Nice sound and "grand moment de plaisir avec
amis"... that's all that counts.
Klasse !!! Wat een genot om naar te kijken.
Wat voor een motor en bak zit er in ?
996 GT3 Straat motor met 997 Cup Hollinger + KMP Paddle shift ?
Lijkt of je geen 6e versnelling hebt in deze configuratie.
Around the block in a Porsche 964 RSR 3.9L
Quick spin around the block now that the MegaSquirt MS3X ECU is rough tuned. Nevermind the missing door... Many thanks go out to Black Forest Racing.
The car has always been a racecar. Started as a 965 GT2, turned to a 964 RSR and at some point in the late 90s acquired the front end bodywork of a 993, probably to stay "modern" in the BPR race series. It still retains that bodywork, but the car is more 964 than 993.

Bonjour, elle fait combien de chevaux votre porshe ?
We select the best onboards for you, high quality as expected and only with fast or spectacular stages. This onboard is from Harry Kleinjan and Bart den Hartog ...
Nothing. Sounds like a regular straight-cut dog box. The whining is due to the straight cut gears, the hammering was the cogs slamming - def. not the best state for a dog-box, need to slam it in hard for a solid engagement, but sometimes they're a bit finicky. They're made for durability and efficiency, not ease of use.
Was die onboard ook aanwezig tijdens de crash op de zondag? En denk je dat
we die beelden ooit te zien krijgen?
Normaal hou ik niet zo van de onboards maar deze is prachtig!
