So for some reason when I launch the advanced utilities and when I
boot[kernel] the option for no-force encryption is unclickable, its grayed
out. What would cause this? I run Nexus 7 2012
Wanted to remove encryption from Nexus 7 2012 with root and unlocked
bootloader. Running 5.0.2.
1. Following the video when the screen "Choose Boot Img" the "No-Force
Encyrpt" is greyed out and not selectable.
2. Also attempting to update to 5.1 I downloaded the factory image from
Google "developers.google.com" Unzipped and from advanced utitilities
selected Flash Zip from File on Computer. Added Zip to Flash
"image-nakasi-lmy47d.zip" - it pushed to tablet and then when tried to
flash from Team Win Recovery v2.8.5.1 I get the error that signature
verification failed.
Thanks for all the help!
+Rootjunky.com Thanks for the reply - I did not realize that the Nexus 7 did not have encryption enabled. Lollipop has really made the device a dog. Watched the video, just a little confused, will try again.
+Daniel Casciato nexus 7 isnt encrypted and is why the option is grayed out. to flash the firmware you can use TWRP if isnt in a rom based package you have to use fastboot to do it. have you checked out my playlist on the NRT kit it will really help check it out here //www.rootjunky.com/nexus/nexus-root-tool-kit/
+Rootjunky.com Far as this topic "disable encryption", I did the unlock boot loader and verified worked with root checker that have root access. I have the verizon build LMY47E, but am on the 5.1 lollipop. Will this still work with newest lollipop. It shows my build on the Nexus root toolkit. Sorry dont know all the lingo, if a kernel flash is for just 5.0 lollipop. I have read this xda post, and all these multiple steps and resulting boot loops. Just want to verify. Hear only stupid question, is not asking first.
Hey.
Does this rom have any bugs in day to day usage? I mean like the sensors,
calling, dual sim, wifi etc. And also could you please tell me about the
camera performance?
Thanks a lot.
+iNNovational I flashed this rom and I must say that it is phenomenal. I saw another video and used his method and files. Thanks for spreading awareness about such a great rom. Keep up the good work.
Hi, haven't come across any bugs apart from no LED notification, but then I was having trouble before this ROM anyway; also it doesn't have tap to wake. The best part is that it has FIXED these things: SMS from some contacts do not display their name, duplicate SMS threads when using third party app, unable to use custom launcher, able to change photo resolution. I don't know if this is the best ROM, but I don't need to try another one because I'm happy!
Hello,
Thanks for this review, very interesting as I'm still considering buying
this Lenovo, or the Xiaomi Redmi note 2 (prime) or the LeTV One 32gb...
Still hesitating if the price hike is worth it... Btw, I'm not a gamer, but
I like taking pictures and like a reasonably good sound (inbuilt speaker).
My second question would be: Why not install right from scratch the Nexus
Rom you propose...?
+Walter Pfannschmidt Hi, thanks for your interest in my channel. In regards to your question about whether to install a custom ROM to begin with - you see, in essence, nothing SHOULD be better than the official ROM a phone comes with. The reason is that the official ROM has been made specifically for a particular phone, and has been thoroughly tested to ensure minimum bugs and that the phone runs well. The bugs part is true, however most brands have a vested interest in loading software, whether its own or third-party apps in order to make money - hence the bloatware. For me, when I get a new phone, I also don't want to void the warranty by installing a Custom ROM, and would avoid doing so as long as possible. However like any phone, the more you use it the more it lags, which is made even worse if the phone has a lot of bloatware installed. Google Nexus phones pride themselves on being free of bloatware and only having the stock Android apps, so many people go for these. However, variety is the spice of life and it's good to see what other manufacturers are offering, and in the case of the Lenovo K3 Note - it's a great phone with great specs, but with lots of bloatware.
