I saw doesnt work properly, but what its wrong. Put backwards a gear or put
a shim there, tanks for ansewr, am planning to do mine but i dont want
install wrong.tanks
Misael, The "Collar" was on backwards. The Collar must be installed correctly! If done wrong, the ENTIRE UNIT MUST BE TAKEN APART AGAIN! As stated in the video, The collar has a lip on one side. If installed wrong, the collar will not drop or slide far enough and cause contact with the fork as it continues to try to push the collar into position. If the collar is installed wrong, it will never actually disengage the gears. Hope this answers your question.
Question if its installed incorrectly and you put the car in reverse would
the car actually move back or no? And how would u know if someone else
installed it correctly? thank.
The transmission simply won't work. In my case, the collar was upside down, causing a alignment issue that sounded like gears chattering when I rolled backwards on hill. In drive, it felt like 2 gears trying t o operate at the same time.
I only drove the van about 100 feet and caused a little heat damage to the fork which I was able to file clean. This problem will not take long to damage permanently!
How to fix a REVERSE LIGHT SWITCH on a 2005 Ford Focus (and similar models/years)
This is a tutorial on how to change or fix a reverse light switch on a 2005 Ford Focus. The repair took about 1 1/2 hours, but the video is edited down to about 10 ...
Chris, great vid. Just word about the switch: since the switch is just a
ball which is depressed by linkage interior to the tranny and connects
across the two electrical pins to complete the circuit, it has a tendency
to get gunked up with fluid and then contact is lost. Try 1st using carb
cleaner and depress the ball and spray into the switch past the ball
several times until you get only clean fluid coming out. Then with an
ohmmeter across the two terminal of the switch depress the ball and see if
you can get a 0 or nearly 0 ohm reading with depressing only 80% of the
way. If you have to press the ball all the way in then you need to
replace the switch. To ensure that the wiring is NOT an issue (or the
bulbs), put a paperclip across the contacts on the wiring harness plug,
then turn key to accessory position and put in reverse to make sure that
the lights will come on. BTW, if you get lucky and it's gunk in the switch
then $5 to fix (carb cleaner) vs. $50 (2014 prices in CA) for the switch.
You choose.
the floor jack goes under the trans pan but put a piece of wood on the jack
saddle first bc you dont want to bend or punch a hole in the trans pan you
dont need to pump the jack up a lot just have it sit under pan what you
were looking at after you removed the batt housing was the transmission
mount
nice! just bought a 2006 focus today and reverse lights weren't working so
I checked the fuse box the bulbs and everything and there was no problem
there. now that I see this I know what it is. thank you so much for this
helpful video
Thanks for the video, Chris! Worked perfectly, and got her reverse lights
working again! Also, thanks to Joe Ford DIY for the tips on the dielectric
grease and the piece of wood on the jack.
Just a warning to save you a few hours of work. IF YOU HAVE AN AUTOMATIC
FOCUS, THIS TUTORIAL IS NOT FOR YOU! THIS IS FOR A FOCUS WITH A MANUAL
TRANSMISSION.
jack goes under transmission pan not engine your thinking of the oil pan
thats only when your changing the big motor mount under the coolant
recovery tank
F5A51 Transmission, No Forward, Slips in Reverse - Transmission Repair
This is a 5 speed Mitsubishi unit exhibiting a common failure. Although the wavy didn't cause the pump to fail, it still failed causing a complete burn up of this unit.
I have 2002 Lancer evo GTA with about 100k on the clock, a few months ago I
heard a loud crunching from the trans heading down my driveway. Upon
inspection I was told it was direct planetary assembly, unable to get the
right part I found out the F5A5A from the US eclipse 3.8 v6 and Galant is
basically a FWD version and most internals can fit. Fast forward to the
present I have the F5A5A trans with the bell housing from the evo and evo
torque converter fitted.
My issue is that when the car is shifting from 2nd to 3rd there is about a
1.5 - 2 sec delay, its like you're driving and the car applies the brakes
then shifts or there is engine braking like when going down a hill. 1st to
2nd, 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th are all fine along with the backing down
from all gears. Whether I
drive in auto or manual mode it always does the same thing when shifting.
We've tried the valve body of the eclipse on the trans and the evo's valve
body, we've also swapped sensors. The fluid is fresh and is full, the only
other option is the torque converter but since the eclipse's own is bigger
we haven't
gone that route. I'm really hoping its not the torque converter because
after searching for months I have gotten no leads on finding one.
+Hiram Gutierrez hiram can you please give me the part number for the forward clutch in spanish(tambor de avance) of the transmission f5a51 PLEASE i need it now
On top of the case there are some numbers and letters stamped. There is a 3 letter code. That code has to match the other transmission you got the parts from. If it does not match, the transmission will never shift properly since the gear ratios are different. If the code matches then you need to do a Re-Learn. Here in the U.S. I don't know of an aftermarket scan-tool that will do it, only the factory Mitsubishi or Hyundai tool and that's a trip to the dealership. What we have experienced is a bind up on the 2-3 upshift which is what it sounds like the issue you are having. Hope this helps.

Car repair trivia? Car will not move when shift to drive or reverse...
I replaced an axle on my car today and after I was all done, the car would not move. It acted as if every gear was neutral, even park. Take a guess as to what you ...

2004 ford taurus. What are all of the possible problems/solution?
I have a 06 Ford Taurus sel 3.0 v6 it won't do anything when I put it in
drive reverse or low gear all it dos is ram up it was working fine going to
class I stoped and was going to reverse cause I forgot something and it
wouldn't move so it stuck it in drive and still nothing just wondering if
it may be my torque converter or transmission?
hey im going to buy a nissan sentra but the guy says the car starts but
wont move when u give it gas. He says i might need to change the fuel pump
or regulator. is what he said true
sory for the delayed reply.. but for easy turning, either its grip or
drifting, its much better to get the car on the opposite side of the line
for a much easier exit.. and apply it on each corner as soon as possible so
that you can have much better time..
hey..im also using a nsx-r for dreadnaught b and im not really good at
"picking" the right time to drift. if im turning right, should i first go
to the left side of the track then e-brake and drift???tnx
