I have a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan with the cylinder switch stuck. I removed
the steering column and had to hit on the cylinder housing to get the key
to turn. So i bought a key cylinder and replaced it, when i tried to start
the van it started ran for a second are two thin it stopped. I tried two
more times again it started and stopped, when i tried a forth time it would
not crank at all. So i took the old key cylinder apart and the new one
apart and recoded it to the old key and it did the same thing. Can anyone
tell me what is the problem.
You may want to check to see if there's a frayed wire on the ignition, and that all of the connections are okay. If there's a check engine light on, you should have the code pulled. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
The ignition in my 2002 Jeep Liberty was completely stuck frozen to where
the key wouldn't turn at all once it was in the ignition. I took a hammer
and started tapping on the end of the key when it was in the ignition until
I could get the key to turn to the ON position. Then I bought a new tumbler
w/ keys and installed the new one immediately after removing the old one.
Note: to remove the bottom shroud in a 2002 Jeep Liberty, it requires a
T-20 Torx screw driver. Thanks for posting the video!
Found you via the Lost Jeeps forum. This video is PERFECT. Saying what
you're doing and then showing it is VERY helpful. For those looking to do
this, remember: you will need the t10 security torx bit (it's a regular
"star" bit but with a recessed hole in the center for the "tamper
resistant" screws). You probably have the regular t20 Torx bit on hand (in
a driver kit), but the security bits are less common (though readily
available).
Any idea why the dealers won't give up the truth on this one? I went to TWO
different dealers (one in the area where the ignition pin broke, and my
dealer at home)...neither of them mentioned that it was the ignition pin
actuator...they both just said that "two metal tabs" broke off inside the
column. This video saved me $1,200 -- I found a salvaged TJ steering
column, stripped out what I needed and used this video to install the parts.
Sweet thanks for this video, on my liberty putting it back together was a
little different, I had to put the bottom piece with the spring on before I
could get the key cylinder back in properly other then that, it was right
on point !! This saved me from 236-1200 bucks!!
my car was not turning on i thought it was the ignition switch but a buddy
of mine sent me this video i imediatly went home bought the part and
installed it, my car is now running well, thank you for this information it
was fairly easy to do also
Like Mr. Davis, I want to thank you for the video. It was very helpfulin
figuring outhow to open up and repair the ignition from my Jeep Liberty.
The quality of the video was very good, better than other videos had
watched on the subject.
Moes - I've checked with the dealer - they wont even talk to me unless I
replace the entire column. How close was this video to what you actually
experienced? Thanks

Refilling And Bleeding The Cooling System
In this video I cover the proper procedure for refilling and purging air from the cooling system after a cooling system component replacement or a coolant change ...
+Joe 88 You'll need to monitor the dash temperature gauge to determine when the engine has warmed up.That's a pretty risky setup you should really have an aftermarket radiator fan controller so the fan can turn on automatically when needed.
Sir I got a Nissan pathfinder R 50 , 2005 model ( Qatar - Middle East) ,
unfortunately I could not find the bleeder valve or air out valve,
please help me
muhammad
Check the coolant temperature switch first disconnect the 2 pin connector on the switch it's screwed into the top of the lower radiator hose thermostat housing. The 2 pin connector will have a Green and Black wire turn the key to the on position and carefully jump the connector with a jumper wire or paperclip (be careful not to bend the connector contacts by shoving the jumper in just touch them) if the fans run the sensor is bad.If they don't run you can rule out the sensor. Let me know if it's not the sensor and I can provide further info.
+psychsoamiii LOL... anti freeze DOES NOT stop rust, lets break down the word shall we. ANTI FREEZE.... what exactly do you think that means? lol Sure it has additives in it, but you don't have to have antifreeze in it to run additives. Antifreeze helps lubricate stuff sure, but regular additives do the same in water. We are talking about nonfreezing atmosphere. In a regular day to day running vehicle in the South, with additives in water, is perfectly safe and fine, and many people do it. and you know what.... the motors have zero issue lasting. Fluid on metal creates rust period if there is iron. Will it be enough to clog a motor? Sure if you a fucking moron that does zero maintenance on a car and thinks it takes care of itself. lol Never doing flushes or oil changes, checking levels, etc... yeah absolutely that will mess a motor up... it has very little to do with what is inside of it as long as your using your head and know what your doing. Know what I mean vern? But I was referring to the colder climate only in my comment. I wasn't going into chemical breakdown and specifics. It's only youtube homie, I'm not trying to fix everyone's car and be a chiltons
You clearly don't live in cold climate then, because if you did that tap water would freeze and crack the radiator if your lucky, block if your not. Be careful there is a reason we put anti freeze in cars, but if you live where it don't get to freezing then yes water is absolutely fine.

Chrysler refused to warrant the front wheel bearings with only 54500 miles on them under the 7/70 powertrain warranty, so I did the work myself and saved over ...
Thanks you for the video. Very Helpful! I used it as a guide to change the
front wheel bearings on my wife's 2007 PT cruiser today. The only two
things that I can add, is the sensor was on the strut, so that did not have
to be removed; and on removing the steering knuckle form the lower ball
joint, there is a slit on the sleeve that fits around the lower ball joint
stud... at least on our 2007, and if use a chisel or wedge in the
slip after bolt is removed and lightly tap to pry it open a tad, the
steering knuckle will lift right off the lower ball joint without having to
hammer the knuckle. My total cost was $20 for the two bearings (with
discounts from AutoZone + $50 for the machine shop to install new bearings
for a final total of $70. Took about 1 hr to remove and 1 hr to install.
im on my 2nd set of replacement bearings at 120,000 miles. not a tough job
to remove the knuckle but from what the machine shop told me it is
difficult to remoive the bearing from the hub. which only cost 40 total
(you got ripped off). btw if you are going this far into riiping apart the
front end you will want to replace the lower control because of the
bushings and replace the outer tie rods especially if you are close to
60,000 miles trust me. im with you on screw chrysler and there warranty
OK, You need to do an alignment after removing the knuckle assembly. You
have 2 choices of Bearings that are used. One is a double roller "Ball"
bearing and the other is Double "Tapered bearing". The "Ball bearing is
half the cost of the Tapered. The Ball bearing you will get 30 to 50 K of
service life. The Tapered Bearing you will get 4 times that amount. Request
Timken Set49 bearing . That is the Tapered bearing. Grease the splines
before reassembly. 180ft pounds very important.
If Chrysler's are using 1970s technology, GM is using 1920s technology.
Have you ever worked on a Chevrolet? I have a degree in mechanical
engineering and have been working on cars for over 40 years and I agree
that the PT Cruisers do have some minor issues, overall they are
exceptionally well thought-out and built vehicles. They incorporate much
Mercedes Benz technology. The doors close like bank vault doors (Ever shut
the door of a Toyota?) and the fit and detail is very good.
I would rate this video "B minus." He does very well in showing how to take
the right front hub off and I agree with the suggestion to have a machine
shop press in the new bearing. However, the reassembly is not as easy as
the video would lead you to believe, particularly the left hand side. Not
having the luxury of a shop and lift as he does adds to the misery. Bottom
line: you save $500 - $700 dollars but you sure earn it.
The MAJOR problem with these vids on PT Cruiser bearings/hub is the epic
failure for anyone to acknowledge the issue with the STRUT. If the STRUT
becomes hyperextended you are completely screwed. Removal of knuckle and
the bearings and even pressing them in yourself is a breeze. But, if the
strut will not go up about 2 inches. You're done. Screwed...Don't do it
yourself people. Go to a garage and pay the $250.
I have over 85,000 miles on my 05 PT and Im changing my wheel bearing for
the second time. I actually only changing one as the left front is humming.
Im only paying 15 dollars to have the bearing installed. Im also doing this
work myself. I have also had a weird growling sound when I turn the car
ever since it was new and Chrysler could never figure out what it was. Any
guesses?
I have a question. How did you know the wheel bearings were shot? The thing
is my PT Cruiser 2003 is pulling to the left and the front end shakes. We
can't drive past 40mph without it really shaking (More like the car is
limping) It only has 24,000 some odd miles on it. My mom thinks it's the
wheel bearings.. did yours have any trouble like that?
Off to the right where you see related videos to changing these wheel
bearings are a couple of my videos. One of them is the bearing being
pressed out. 2002 models specifically had a midyear part number change that
Chrysler failed to inform people when and with which VIN the Cruisers would
start using the newer part number wheel bearing.
Lol keep beating on the tie rod ends and you will earn yourself more work.
beat on the steering knuckle to loosen the tie rod and you can lift it out
with a finger. beating on the tie rod threads can cause damage to the ball
joint which is inside the tie rod end boot. seen it before.
This is awesome but does it depend on the bearings? I was told you could
knock the bearings out w/o the machine shop but if they are pressed on I
could understand how a machine shop would be needed....but again awesome
!!! thanks for posting this
Just for the record, you do not need to put on that thin nut which holds
the rotor on. That was only used at the factory so that the rotor would not
fall off before the wheels were put on the vehicle. They serve no other
purpose.
Hey, thank you so much for the video. It made the job so much easier, was
able to remove successfully with no doubts or headaches. Appreciate you
taking the time to make the video for the greater good. Thank you!
Thanks for the video. My Haynes manual says that the two horizontal
knuckle-to-strut bolts take 40 ft-lbs plus 1/4 turn, not the 40 ft-lbs you
state. What does Chrysler specify?
