That was really cool, there's this area of trees where these people tapped
their trees and made a piping system to make the syrup drip from several
trees into one barrel. :) that's someplace west of Menomonie, WI.

Heavy Snow Storm & Preparing For Maple Syrup Season
Read the full blog post: //www.thediyworld.com/blog/?p=1607 We had another power snow storm hit the area so I was shoveling snow most of the day again.
The rocking chair portion of the video, with feeding the birds...nothing
like the stillness of the winter snow and its meditative qualities. And
even more lovely is watching life come from that stillness and seeing tiny,
delicate birds enjoying a meal you've provided to keep them alive another
day in the cold of winter. That was a lovely scene, especially with my
Celtic music playing in the background. I do enjoy the times you take a
moment to just let us live.......IN the moment. That was a joy to see
after a long hard day at work. Thank you. (SSanf, a special wave & hugs
to you. You're the one that can understand why I appreciate this part of
the video so much) Once again, thank you Troy.
hey troy, one again thanks fro the video my cyber friend. just wanting to
keep it current about when you are ready i really do want to trade
preserves / jellies for some syrup. them small fat birdies you filmed look
sorta like a finch or love bird. accept here in Georgia they are more
brown then the blue grey color up your way. maybe its like crows ro black
birds. down here they are so black they look almost dark purple. up north
i noticed they had white breasts.
I'm enjoying the videos, especially the snow. And I'm enjoying some
comments, though completely skipping over comments where you're squabbling
with people who are ultimately trying to insult you. I can understand
wanting to defend yourself but not sure why you would get into the muck
with them - but that's your business. I like the videos where you just live
your life without worrying about viewers.
I do have to differ with you about working in an office. I just spent a
satisfying 8 hours sitting at a computer solving a spherical polarization
problem and now home to cook dinner with the family and then an evening of
remodeling my house. So I say, to each his own when it comes to finding
your bliss.
That is the compromise, but then I get to play with multimillion dollar toys I wouldn't be able to afford on my own. I guess that is the difference between a job and a career you love! Good thing the world offers so many options.
Ok. lol. Some people love their office jobs. Some dont. I love PHP programming but not sitting in an office somewhere for hours on end working for someone else doing it.
I have to thank a viewer for answering my questions about YouTube,

I own a business and can only speak from that standpoint as I am not a tax
adviser. I mean this with no disrespect but if you cannot afford a tax
consultation you have no business starting or running a business. With that
said, If you are running a business, as Troy is, or as you are planning to
do, any cash you receive is considered income. In businesses there is NO
SUCH THING AS DONATIONS OR GIFTS, that is unless you are a 501C(3), which
you would not be. Any physical items received that have stated value are
included on the P&L and therefore taxable. Troy has a large amount of those
items and would be paying tax on them. The percentage of tax depends on
where you live. In my state, like most, EVERYTHING IS TAXED! Even labor.
Also when Troy sells any of his items, be it coasters, T-Shirts, etc.
within the state he is required to charge sales tax and would have a state
tax id number. He would also be required to have his business name
registered in the State of New York. Most likely he would be setup as a
sole proprietorship for profit business.
There is a lot to know BEFORE you start a business and unfortunately many
people just open up a shop without proper research and filings. Eventually
they are caught and the penalties are extremely steep. Even if you pay your
taxes, if you are not properly registered you will be screwed. Also, not
being properly setup as a business opens yourself up to personal liability.
Also, without proper liability insurance you could easily loose everything
you have, plus some
"sole proprietorship for profit business"- which makes him open to lawsuits-- an LLC(Limited liability company) may protect from losing his shirt, etc.
Whoever is removing entire threads please stop it. I am getting blamed for
deleting them. Edit: Forgive me now they are back. YT is messing things up
big time. If you lose your comments, just come back later. They might be
back on again.
