It's a Tesla Roadster.. You can hear the electric motor as he pulls away. It's a totally electric car. They're fantastic. Lotus were contracted by Telsa to build the chassis, which is related to a Lotus Elise but is mostly made out of different components. Tesla now have the electric Model S in production and soon the Model X.

Having seen the whole video now, a few thoughts: Did you guys blow through the toll at the bottom? I noticed you had a pending firmware update on the dash. Was it just new, or are you holding off updating for some reason (ie: reported bugs)? Did the traction control trip at all on the dirt-covered parts of the climb? Your final energy usage was 1590 Wh/mile? Did you learn what you wanted to, or was this purely for fun?
https://gp6.googleusercontent.com/-QS-sF92kM7Y/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/nhuynielVWI/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
LOL it was an arranged event so they let us through and chauffeured us around. I didn't do the pending update as I don't do those when I'm away from home just in case. Traction control was perfect, no issues up or down. Final (just the ascent) was in the 1,500 range I believe, yes. Both up and down was 450 or so. It was purely for fun, but awesome quiet ascent and descent... no noisy engine braking etc ...

Most of the Model S were averaging around 1500 to 1600 Wh/mi on the way up. The Roadster averaged around 1200 with a driver and passenger. Most of the cars added 20 miles of range on the 8 mile drive down.

Ben, a Tesla made it to the summit of Mt. Haleakala in Hawaii. It is a 10,000' climb. I wish I could find info on the energy usage, but the driver only posted a photo with no story.

Oops! Close enough :-) Lowest VIN? I'm S246. I ended up leading the second pack on the way down (we go separated). No taillights to follow. Yikes. Couldn't see the road :-(

I have a quick question. Can you use your Android or iPhone to produce a wifi hotspot for this car or is it only their the 3g network you get the internet signal?
https://gp6.googleusercontent.com/-QS-sF92kM7Y/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/nhuynielVWI/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
With the latest version of the car software you can attach to Wifi so yes, you can use your faster LTE device to provide 'net to the car...

Ben, nice vid but you forgot there were only 15 Model Ss and one Tesla Roadster. I had the lowest VIN so I went first LOL.
https://gp6.googleusercontent.com/-HVNQ1L35b1w/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/0Eqe3yqYR3Y/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Nice job! I didn't even think about taking a video (or using the trip meters to measure energy on the way up or down)
https://gp6.googleusercontent.com/-QS-sF92kM7Y/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/nhuynielVWI/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
It was about 1,500 for the trip up. Used about 40 miles of range to go 7.8 miles. Regen'ed about 15-20 of that back.

If you put solar cell on the roof top so you can charge car in area that electric power is not available

are there any tesla owners in western Maine or New Hampshire? Would like to connect with them.....

"15 Tesla Model S'es and a Roadster climb Mount Washington"... Yeah? So what's the punchline?
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-Rb1333T27q8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/eBbpxtlDqYI/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Most of us never touched the mechanical brakes. Used only regen all the way down.
https://gp6.googleusercontent.com/-vnT-BWF_1dU/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/eKUs7Ujhurg/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Bet there was some major regen to be had on the way down too, am I right?
https://gp6.googleusercontent.com/-m5BsqSjGtYk/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/_oqfew1IsC4/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
It might be too late but I would have loved to see the wh/m average
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5L0ditiTnRI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABY/gfomDVmis70/photo.jpg?sz=64
Do you have video of the descent? I want to see regen at work.
https://gp3.googleusercontent.com/-biBQrHtmpvw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/LxZ30qa77-A/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
so technically 2x 7.8 miles cost you 20 miles on range. solid.
https://gp4.googleusercontent.com/-C4xaF6XeZKs/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/s5NyuRHgpMk/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
How dare that ICE park in the way of your model S at 26:18!
