The resonators on the Speed are just pass-through piping with packing around it to muffle the noise as the exhaust passes through. Removing the resonators results in only the change in exhaust note because the new pipe is the exact same diameter, just minus the packing, so it neither changes the air/fuel ratio nor the backpressure.
