Arnova 10 G2 tablet ROOTED with new custom firmware...full root and increased app storage space...

Not many videos out there on this great low budget tablet but great perfomance,...thought I would do one myself of my newly purchased Arnova 10 G2 tablet ...

I agree on appslib! :) see the link where it says.... "Android Market is not included with this firmware, please use ArcTools to download and install Android Market on your device, after flashing the custom firmmade by Arctablet, it won’t work currently work on this one, but that should be fixed soon - Default Apps & Market 3.4.4 (rootless Install): should work with any firmware including non rooted ones ** recommended option with this firmware **..............etc"

@Gioy10 ...The display is no way near as good as the ipad or other top names...but it is acceptable for web and films and most games...not as good at all angles of viewing...but again as a first tablet buy at the price I got it for £139... I think it's great! Also remember that it is capacitive only two points so not as good as ipad or others but pinching zoom is fine....cheers! Just for info...I saw Archos same 10.1 model selling for under £150 on Amazon.

I am installing...UPDATE 4/8/2012. ROM is now 1.5c as per website freaktab I am partial to Bob's ROM as I've have no issues in past apart from slow boot on first release....I use Titanium to restore my apps onto it and love it!! LEt us know if you find that MorkaMod or Katsy works well for you. cheers dude!

You need to download the zipped file....as it contains all you need.....make sure to follow the procedure to add the drivers as explained by the guy that did this on arctablet url...I added the 64bit win7 drivers...you need to install the RK29 drivers for your OS. See the link in post above.

no I have not seen this..screen doesn't come on randomly at all on mine....one thing I woulddd say though,...is that as you install more apps it seems to slow down the boot up time???? or maybe it's just mine!? still happy with it though and you're right about the google play. Cheers!

@aprimona .Update for tis post: I'm currently trying to get it to stream from my WMP on win7 with CIFSMANAGER will post if I get time to do it.....and final note, just to give some idea.... battery is pretty good... it lasts easily 2-4 days on standby and 5-8 hours in use web etc...

@helicoptered the effects are because I am using my favourite luncher called "Go Launcher EX" and for the ROM, please see "show more" under video. PS, ROM is fast once it fully boots up! bit slow to load all... but happy with it all the same. cheers!

Hi I have installed this firmware but screen comes on on its own sometimes have you had this happen at all ? Otherwise it works very well. Don't try install market from Ark tools as new play market already there on reboot.

Finless Bob just released a new ROM yesterday 1-29-2012 and it is available at FreakTab dot com. It is faster and comes with the Android Market, Gmail and the AppLib already installed.

I agree my battery also takes ages...I was told that if takes long to charge it will discharge slowly too...so I guess its ok for this tablet. Cheers!

The stock arnova comes with appslib installed due to the device no being certified by Google you can download the google apps from arctalet site and download ...

The link you provides is a forum thread that links to megaupload. That site is currently blocked by FBI. I downloaded gapps somewhere else, but that did not work. I got errors about "there is a problem parsing the package". On the internet it says it's the firmware...so that I have to root. I am not doing that cause my previous Arnova was killed after rooting.

I am just wondering, does the power button work in the newest version? I've been noticing in the comments on your site that there is a bug with it. Also hearing people have not been able to restore back to stock firmware. Also, can you please list the features that do and don't work? And does this slow down the device at all? (WALLPAPER TIP) for everyone that’s interested in wanting to put a perfect fit wallpaper for this tablet…. sit ur picture program or resize ur wallpaper to 640×300 or 320×150. but keep in mind that the top 1st inch can’t be shown because of the bar. anyways thought i share it to everyone that doesn’t know about this yet. :)

Tengo ya instalado este update en mi ARNOVA 10, y despues de instalar ADOBE FLASH 10.1 or 10.2.apk no funciona cuando trato de abrir paginas con contenido FLASH asi como YOUTUBE o FACEBOOK , se cierran las paginas cuando trato de abrirlas. ALguna sugerencia de como solucionar este problema?

I already have this in my table ARNOVA 10, then after this I installed adobe flash 10.1 or 10.2.apk to be able to open pages with FLASH content as facebook or YOUTUBE,but it doesn't work. the pages get closed Somebody could help me to figure out how to fix this issue?

It has been removed because of serious problems reported using it. Check arctablet Blog for older firmwares, that are more stable. We may release an Arnova 10 update based on the very efficient Archos 7HTv2 firmware in the future. Cheers

@joaovictor1994 Can't tell it is safe, you can also get into troubles when flashing firmware. But there are good programms such as the Rockchip Flashing tool that can get you out of trouble in case things go wrong...

Lo he instalado en mi tablet ,se instala un app llamado superusuario , que el antivirus la reconoce como un spyboot que envia datos a terceros. Solo pude anular con task killer. Cuidado

did it but the internet broeser is working for some time and then it just shuts itself off (the internet browser) tried to install another browser but it still has the same problem

Well it seems to start up,then shows white lines on the above middle section of the tablet,then it reboots it keeps doing this .Why ? And HOW can i fix it !?

i got the g3 today as far as i see it it's not worth it, i paid $169. at sears, the g3 is the newer model of this one ,and it was eazy to get playstore app loaded on it but it does not come with playstore /android market the touch works fine but i had problem with netflix it would not work ,youtube was ok speakers are bad ,cam is poor and only have 1 cam i have gotten cheaper/same price tablets that worked better than this (viewsonic view pad 7 ) worked and felt like a better made product

OMG ARNOVA just very well may be the shittiest tablet ever released. for starters why the fuck is the no google play store. APPSLIB is the worst app market there is . no selection at all.and the videos that are posted on how to flash root and get the play store are just as shitty as the tablet itself. if you have an arnova tablet throw it in the trash because that is where it belongs. for 174.00 you can get a way better product than this bucket of SHIT.

What you see in the video is the alternative install procedure describe in the link from the video description. The device is plugged to the computer thru USB, you'll find all the details in the link. The Vol+ / reset put the tablet in a flashing mode, that is more or less equivalent to a fastboot for Rockchip based tablets. There is also an easy custom firmware update method that makes the flashing process very easy, check our link.

I always wonder at what point of development for these devices people sit down and say... I have a great idea, lets remove the already established android market from the device, and add our own shit market with limited and out of date apps... and everyone says YEAH!!!! awesome idea!!! my god...

I assume the C stands for the capacitive version of the 10b G3 while the "normal" cheaper version features a dual-touch resistive screen. When I visited our BCC for the last time last week, they didn't have stock yet, so I don't know for sure, but well. :)

So my win 7 64bit doesn't recognize this POS at all. Tried to run the rockchip thing many times, but windows doesn't see the device, and yes, I have the sdk installed (but haven't tried adb with this device). About to throw it out the window.

Firmware or software? Does it include radios or modems, or just SW/ROM? I cant get the damn thing to transfer data over a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, but works just fine with solid Wi-Fi hotspot. Does this fix that?

I ran the whole thing in the right way, but when the procedure ends on rocktool detachment usb also expect more than 10 minutes, but the tablet is written on for more than 20 minutes for help

The custom firmware is based on the original firmware from Arnova which support German language (as most Android devices), so yes it does have it.
